We booked our second stay at krasnapolsky this September for my birthday. We added three more days because of changes in our plans, as advised by costumer service on email. When we checked in, it took a long time with the attendant claiming she was combining the bookings and that we’ll have no problems. Yesterday we were blocked from entering our rooms and had to wait at the reception again, were treated rudely, told we don’t have a second booking - after i showed the booking confirmation. When it was finally done, the manager dismissed us with no apologies. After paying for a 5 star hotel, i would expect better treatment and even compensation after being promised something by an attendant and then be halted in the middle of the stay.

The hotel has a wonderful position on Dam Square which makes it so central. Warm welcome from Concierge taking our cases on arrival. Ushered through to Reception for check-in which was quick and easy. A young lady showed us to our room and helped explain the lighting, temperature control system, coffee machine and bathroom facilities. Although we had a rear facing room with views over the hotel roofs this was not important for our short stay. The shower was very efficient with immediate hot water and was easy to use. SAFETY : As an elderly man with balance issues, i would have welcomed a discrete wall handle on the side of the shower. We loved the large soft towels provided. The king-size bed was really comfortable and had two decent pillows. The flat screen TV was well positioned on the wall in front of the bed. I was impressed to find that the ceiling mounted fire alarms are regularly tested as I noted when engineers visited our room. The breakfast buffet was fantastic with a great variety of fruit, cereals, meats, cheeses and pastries tantalisingly displayed. It was lovely to enjoy unlimited freshly squeezed orange juice. The hot buffet was equally prolific and well presented. SAFETY : no handrail for the steep steps at the entrance (other staircases on the ground floor also need review. Overall this was a most enjoyable visit and i would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to family, friends and business colleagues.

This hotel is NOT worth the money. The check in was an hour long because of their error. Then they forced us to move rooms on our last night because “a family” wanted our attached rooms. I was traipsed through the lobby by the manager Luke, in my housecoat to another room. This hotel is unprofessional and over priced. I have stayed at luxury hotels all over the world, and this hotel is a bad joke in comparison.

Mixed feelings on this hotel. Pros: Gorgeous hotel & very nice room! Can’t beat the location. Loved having the roof top patio. Watched the sunset over Dam Square. Loved all the lighting options. Lady that checked us in was super nice & so sweet! Cons: App difficult to use. Had to call front desk from cell for room service. We specifically booked the rooftop terrace to be able to smoke outside. We would never smoke in our room. When room service arrived, the guy must’ve smelled our items since we had them sitting out. He went and told front desk who rudely came up & knocked on our door while do not disturb sign was on to remind us we can not smoke in the room. It was very obvious we did not smoke in the room. We reiterated to them that he most likely smelled it bc it’s sitting out NOT bc we smoked in the room. Rudely all they did was remind us again when there was literally no smoke in the room. We again reminded them we didn’t and shut the door. Extremely rude to accuse people of this when we specifically booked the terrace to smoke outside. The guy that checked us out at the end was short and not pleasant at all. When we said we were calling an Uber to take us to the airport, they rudely advised that we would have to walk down the street to be picked up. Ubers supposedly not allowed to come up to the entrance though taxis can? No 5 star establishment would send their customers to walk down the street. The hvac was awful. No matter what it would keep going back to a super warm temp & would not stay cooling the room.

Dear Mr./Ms. Pigglestate, First of all, I would like to thank you for rating Anantara Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky Amsterdam on this website. I am glad to learn that you had a comfortable stay with us at our beautiful centrally located hotel and also to know that the ambience of our property exceed your expectation. On behalf of the entire team, I would like to offer you our sincerest apologies for the inconveniences regarding the transport in Dam square area and especially for the misunderstanding and miscommunication regarding the smoke. If you give us the opportunity to regain your trust, we will gladly offer you the best that our guests enjoy every day. To show you the improvements we hope you will give us a second chance. Then we will personally look after your reservation and will execute any additional arrangement for your stay. Sincerely, Lana de Wit – Guest Relations Manager

U celebrated my birthday here today and had the best time. Staff Aida and Rosanna were so nice and made sure all my wishes came true. They made us mimosas for breakfast and gave us chocolate. Baby is the sweetest ladies I have ever met they deserve so much recognition for this position as they sang happy birthday in English as well as Tagalog and Dutch.

Very much enjoyed the experience at this hotel. Excellent locations, rooms and service. However, the experience was next level thanks to two individuals of the team, Jill from guest relations and Erben from the concierge team. They both helped us with every need and made sure that nothing was missed during our stay including a kind gesture for my birthday. Wanted to note that if you want to stay at a great hotel do stay here but if you want to have an outstanding experience while here look for Jill and Erben.

I recently stayed at the Anantara for business and found the service to be absolutely exceptional. The rooms were luxurious and spotless. But the front desk service is where the hotel trusty shined. Thank you to the kind and professional staff, though special thanks goes to Bahar who went above and beyond in helping to resolve numerous issues with my travel & stay. I can’t wait to return!

There are no extras here but the worst is the prison like room. The rooms are equivalent to the worst dorm room. Find a different hotel! The online pictures are of a different hotel; there are no rooms that size. Really angry!
