We had a 3 night stay here in a canal view room on the 5th floor, the room was very comfortable and spacious and the staff were very nice. This hotel is away from the busier areas but only a 15 min walk or short tram stop from the central station area ( if that’s where you want to visit) just outside the hotel along this canal there are plenty of nice more traditional cafes and restaurants which we like but if you want more of a night life that’s not far away too. We could easily walk to the Anne Frank museum along the canal and the museum quarter was only a 20 min walk.We ate breakfast opposite the hotel and there is also a nice bakery just outside on the corner. If we come back to Amsterdam we’d choose this hotel.

We stayed in the hotel for New Year's Eve and absoluetly loved it. The breakfast was served in the room due to the lockdown but was delicious and carefully served. The staff is so kind and helped us throughout our entire stay. Will definitely be back!

We have not long returned from a 3 night stay at this hotel. We booked the penthouse and glad we did. We enjoyed the space that came with the room and the view. The bed was very comfy and we had 3 good nights sleep. The hotel is perfectly placed. Alongside a canal and the tram stop is literally outside which takes you to all the key places easily. Everyone was super helpful - I asked for English tea and milk and the staff behind the desk were very obliging. There is someone on the desk 24 hours and you leave the key there. This worked fine and caused no issues. Actually nice not to worry about losing your key!
A couple of things I would have preferred - the power of the shower wasn’t the best but this is being picky. We also found the towels of poor quality, some had holes in and could do with being refreshed. But these are minor things.
All in all a lovely stay - would stay again and could recommend.

Fenna at Dikker & Thijs went out of her way to accommodate the changing national lockdown for myself and my family, and gave us the flexibility to enjoy the beautiful hotel at a later date than initially scheduled. The hotel was prompt in their reply and went out of their way to provide for customer satisfaction. My family is looking forward to staying here, and highly rate the accommodating staff.

Thanks!

A wonderfully comfortable room (and well worth the cost for a last minute change of bookings; the staff were very nice and also very helpful, rather important in my exhausted and irritated state).
Incidentally, the interior design of the rooms is nowhere as flat as it appears on pictures. The canal was to the side so the view from that room was not the most impressive the hotel has on offer, but I admit to enjoying the vantage point for people watching. Kudos for the very good blackout curtains. The noise was also at a minimum.
My stay was during a business trip so the central location helped with getting something out of what free time I had. I am looking forward to repeating the experience.

This is a great hotel in a great location. The room was very nice and the service was excellent. The hotel's restaurant is open every morning for breakfast.

We splurged and stayed in the Penthouse Suite, which offers spectacular views of the city (see photo). The cost was about 100 euros more that their least expensive room, but it was worth it.

Dikker and Thijs Hotel would be our first choice on our next visit to Amsterdam.

Honestly, I probably would have given Dikker & Thijs 3.5 stars if that was on option. The location is excellent, right in the heart of the city on the lovely Prinsengracht, and steps away from a tram stop. Five stars for the location.

The room was clean, but rather spartan and somewhat dated. The bathroom was typically Amsterdam sized and could also use a refurbishment. Three stars for the room.

The front desk staff was somewhat aloof and check-in was slow. Additionally, you have to leave your key at the front desk when you depart the hotel, so, when you return, you may have to wait to retrieve your key before you can head to your room. Three stars for the service.

Lovely hotel. Rooms are very clean.
If you have difficulty climbing stairs, the elevator only goes to the 2nd floor.
Very friendly staff to answer any questions. Walking distance to many attractions. Plenty of restaurants in the area.
Parking was about 15 minutes walk.
Traditional European breakfast available.
Reason for my 4 stars:
Option for car valet service at the hotel is available. But you need to let them know 2 hours before. I find that difficult when you are out touring or in traffic to be back on time.
We were in a lovely triple room on the 4th floor. Upon checking out, I found out they have someone to help with our bags up the stairs. If they do not offer, ask for assistance bring your bags to your room.
Similar situation at breakfast. I found out on my third day that they will make pancakes, fried eggs, etc. Again, you will need to ask if not offered.
Other than that, I would definitely stay here again if I am in Amsterdam.

Dear Jacers1, Thank you for your kind words, we will definetely share them with our team! Regarding the elevator, in fact it goes up until the 5th floor. About the valet parking service, we would like to inform you that you wanted to arrange this during the evening. We could make a reservation until 9PM as they closed at 11PM that night. So that is why we asked you to order it 2 hours before, otherwise we could not make a reservation anymore. Your feedback is greatly appreciated as it helps us facilitate all the necessary improvements to provide good service and to ensure that situations like this won’t happen again. Once again, we apologize for the inconvenience caused, however we truly hope to welcome you again in the future! Warm regards, Félice – Front Office Supervisor Dikker & Thijs Hotel Amsterdam

Overall a great hotel with friendly staff, great location, lovely view, and an excellent breakfast. The breakfast included continental and pastry options as well as freshly made eggs.
Some minor things to note:
the bathroom had some hairs on towels and marks on the toilet seat.
The room was very hot and the air con wouldn’t stay on.
The rooms are not double glazed so soundproofing is an issue. I’m usually a deep sleeper but the taxis were sounding their horns at 3am on the first night and I was woken by drunk people on the other two nights.
The hotel gave a helpful list of restaurants, but book in advance as we couldn’t get into any without a reservation.
I would stay here again but regretfully would need a room away from the canal.
