Hotel Estherea turned out to be an excellent choice for a weekend getaway. The lobby and lounge area is very nice, our room clean and with a very nice bathroom, very comfortable beds, great breakfast, and polite and helpful staff. The location on Singel is very quiet, but Dam Square is only 5 minutes away on foot and all of... More

My wife and I together with our two adult children and their partners spent a long weekend at the Estherea in February 2012. The hotel is ideally located on Singel canal, not far from any of the major attractions so we were comfortable walking to most. We had 3 rooms, including a canal room that had a fantastic view of... This hotel has an ideal location with Dam Square just behind and the Nine shopping streets in front, however it is a very quiet and peaceful setting on Singel which meant we slept very soundly aided by the very comfortable beds. Ideal for couples of all ages looking for friendly service in luxurious surroundings.

Hotel Estherea is a classic Dutch hotel. Built in a series of 17th century buildings right next to the Singel canal. It's interior and rooms are classically furnished. The breakfast is very good. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The only downside is the lack of insulation between floors and walls...try to get a room on the top floor.... More

I just spent three nights at the Hotel Estherea and it was a great experience. The location is excellent in the center of the city-just a block or two from dozens of restaurants and with in walking distance of sites such as the Anne Frank House and Dam Square. The rooms were more spacious than I expected and impeccably decorated.... More

small boutique hotel. Very beautiful and tasteful. Rooms are cosy and beautifully decorated and staff are attentive to customers requests. Coffe and tea on tap 24hrs from reception. There isn't a restaurant but breakfast (18 euros pp) is available at a reasonable hour on offer until 11am so one can have a lie in. Check out is at 12.00 and... More

I loved it! The first hotel in the center - anywhere out of town a short walk. The hotel itself is small, very cozy. . Despite the fact that the room was without view, very nice, though small, perhaps as elsewhere in the Netherlands in small hotels. Breakfast - buffet style. Coffee from the coffee machine during the day for... More

Spent 3 relaxing nights at the welcoming Hotel Estherea. Though we had a very early morning arrival time, the hotel staff gladly accepted our luggage to free us to take a long walk along the canals. By the time we returned we were able to access our room several hours before the official check-in time so that we could change... More

I stayed here before getting the early train back to the UK . I had been working elsewhere, and had a night in Amsterdam. The hotel is on a quiet canal. My room overlooked the canal, with good views. The room was quite big, compared to what I had heard about hotels in Amsterdam. Stairs were fine, not like a... More

We would definitely return to this hotel. We had a Classic room (smallest and cheapest) and it was perfectly decorated, comfortable and very clean. We loved the public areas too i.e. library, lounge and bar. We did not have breakfast at the hotel as we did not want to pay 18 euros apiece (though there is a Pain Quotidien behind... More

Neighborhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
