This hotel was a joy to stay in. Our room was large and beautifully decorated. The bathroom was small but adequate. Staff were friendly, helpful and spoke excellent English. It is well situated for sightseeing. The gym is small but perfectly useable. Breakfast was excellent.

The attention to detail at this hotel is exceptional. Everything from the weight of the keyrings to the bend of coffee beans appears to have been carefully considered. From the minute you walk in, you are met with sumptious deco, smell of fresh flowers everywhere and a calm intimate feeling. Rooms are small, but beautifully fitted. Breakfast is outstanding and...

Amsterdam is a big place and we could not decide where to stay. Found this hotel though trip advisor. Wanted something is a quiet area. It was perfect. On a canal but not in busy noisy area. Room was a little small but recentlly decorated to resemble a suite on a ship, it was very nice. Front desk very helpful,...

The hotel is situated in a perfect place, two steps away from lovely Jordaan and right next to restaurants and bars. it has an old European style of decoration. The rooms are relatively big but the management is unfortunately very very poor. We have asked for a connected room for 3 nights. once we arrived (which was very late, at...

I loved this hotel! The main capital of the hotel are the people who work there - especially the people in the reception! The way they welcome you - the way they give you special, considerate service - remember your room number when you come home at night - smilingly having the key ready for you on the desk. We...

This hotel is in an amazingly strategic location. Every one of the restaurants near it are highly rated. Just round the bend you can find awesome sandwiches, on the way there there is great Greek food and if you walk along spui you get local delicacies and great stuff from many other countries. It is pretty safe to walk around...

Our room at the Hotel Estherea was typically European-small, but very comfortable and nicely furnished. The lobby has a cool saltwater fish tank. Most of the staff (like most of the people we met in Amsterdam) spoke good English. There is a bar in the lobby that is not always staffed full-time, but if you want to get a beer,...

Fantastic hotel. Very friendly with lovely decor. Can walk almost everywhere from here, right on the canal and lots of restaurants in walking distance. Smallish rooms and bathrooms but a pleasure to stay here.

We found this amazing hotel on Trip Advisor and booked 4 nights prior to our riverboat cruise. Definately one of our favourite hotels in Europe, the location is excellent, literally alongside a canal, walking distance to many attractions, handy to the river cruises, close to some excellent restaurants and interesting surrounding areas for sightseeing. The decor was totally over the...

The hotel has an excellent location, not too far from the train station, but away from the tourist trap areas. The hotel has excellent decor and breakfast was very good. They also have complimentary coffee and tea (actual coffee machines on the ground floor!). The staff are friendly and helpful. The room was a good size for the price, with...

Staying in Centrum

Neighborhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
