Last night I got home from a wonderful 5 night stay at this hotel. My Mum and I travelled together and we were amazed how elaborate and stunning our room was - it had the wow factor! The bathroom had double sinks, a large bath and my favourite luxury L'occitane toiletries, even the toilet rolls were wrapped in beautiful pink paper with flamingos and the hotel's name on. During our stay we did lots of sightseeing, The Rijksmuseum, Anne Frank house, Artis Royal zoo, Madame Tussauds, Diamond Museum etc. and loved the location of the hotel. Most of the attractions were within walking distance, we only needed to use a tram twice. The hotel has an excellent team, all very nice people but three stood out and deserve an individual mention, the breakfast guy Alex and the reception girls Amal and Yusra. On our final day we even got to speak with the hotel's current owner, a very nice lady who explained the history of the hotel. My favourite thing about the hotel however was the two beautiful grey house cats. The female puss especially enjoyed being petted and combed. I was upset to leave the hotel and Amsterdam too, I didn't want to go home.

I did a staycation at this hotel, and it far exceededy my expectations. The lobby has unlimited tea, coffee and infused waters, the restaurant is cozy, with excellent staff and tasty cocktails, and each room is unique and full of personality. The L'occitane bathroom products are some of the highest quality I've encountered in a hotel. The bed was comfortable, the room is spacious enough to entertain two friends with social distancing, and having an empty fridge came in very handy. The location on Singel means easy access from Central Station and throughout town. I left my bike parked and walked around more than I ever do on Amsterdam because of how convenient the hotel location is. I would highly recommend this hotel.

We only stayed 2 nights, but since the hotel is so great a longer stay is more than worthwile. Very well located at Single it is very easy to access all the great places in Amsterdam. The charm of the hotel in general and the taste of the room equipment is more than oustanding. Friendly staff adds the cherry to the stay, no to forget the very charming house cats welcoming the guests at the entrance. We shall be back to this exceptional place.

This was my second time staying at Hotel Estherea. The first time I stayed here I had no issues. However, this time has been an absolute joke. Breakfast is ridiculously overpriced for what it is. I tried to make toast numerous times for breakfast to be told I couldn’t toast it myself due to covid regulations and it would be brought to me - which is fine, if they ever actually brought the toast to me. Which they didn’t. Numerous times. Forget service - the staff were absolutely disgraceful. How they even got jobs in a hotel is beyond me. 2 occasions to mention; 1) after a long day in Amsterdam my friends & I walk through the door into reception and go to make a drink. We were met with nothing but dirty looks the minute we stepped inside and started discussing this at the coffee machine. Next thing we know one member of staff is running towards us questioning if we’re staying in the hotel & demanding our room numbers. Baring in mind I had been there for 4 days prior to this & hadn’t experienced this once. He did it in a way that made us feel uncomfortable, embarrassed & unwelcome. Even after giving our room numbers, he was questioning us and raising his eyebrows as if to say “you don’t look like you belong in here” - absolutely disgraceful. 2) when leaving I was waiting for my taxi outside. I asked the staff to put the umbrellas down as it was raining and the response was “they break in this weather” - baring in mind I had been there all week, in worse weather and the umbrellas had been available. They were just unbothered & I was left standing outside in the rain. There were many other occasions I could mention, from the bar staff only taking “simple orders” (not even knowing how to make a G&T, even saying there was no bottles of tonic until someone else found them) to cleaners walking into us and not apologising. Don’t get me wrong, I did come across 2 or 3 friendly and helpful members of staff towards the start of the week, but that was it. To say we were returning customers who rented THREE hotel rooms, 1 even being the suite (which was also small & a disappointment) I would expect better service. In fact, I would expect to be treated with basic respect. After reading previous reviews online it seems they have form for being rude to both hotel guests and non-hotel guests so if service is what you’re after - go ANYWHERE else.
