GORGEOUS! This boutique hotel is amazing. And especially now during the holiday season. It is decorated beautifully inside and out. The hotel had many positive attributes ~ the location was central to what we wanted to see, it felt like a safe area, the lobby had plenty of room to avoid the traffic at the front desk, the bar/restaurant offered seating that kept buffet guests from interrupting guests who were eating/drinking, the lobby was equipped with coffee, tea, flavor infused water choices, cookies and other treats. We booked a suite ~ room #10 ~ for our 40th wedding anniversary celebration. The room was beautiful and felt clean until later in the evening. I have an allergy to cigarette smoke and when we returned to our room, I could smell stale cigarette smoke. As the night unfolded, there was a strong odor of fresh cigarette smoke. In the morning, I asked the young woman at the front desk if our room was a smoking room and she said "we have tried to buy the (coffee) shop behind the hotel but failed." So it's a known issue that the smokers visiting the shop behind the hotel created an issue with smoke entering the ventilation of room #10. I asked if we could move to another room and she said "if you can collect your things now . . . " Unfortunately, we had a pre-paid tour planned and an Uber a few minutes away that we didn't have time right then to collect our things. I told her the tour ended in the early afternoon and she said the move had to happen in short order. We left for our tour and when we returned to the front desk in the afternoon I asked again since it was a Tuesday, perhaps a day when the hotel had less occupants. She said there was no option to change rooms. I slept the rest of our stay with a washcloth swiped with vapor rub over my nose and mouth hoping to neutralize the smell. I booked this suite and spent $1200 USD to celebrate an important milestone and felt the front desk clerk should have done more to resolve the problem. We rarely complain about any accommodation or experience, and are acutely aware that travelers have many options. It surprised me that no additional effort was put forth by the front desk to make this right. If friends ask if I recommend this hotel, the answer is a soft "yes" with an asterisk. I am writing this review to help the hotel improve upon their shortcomings since the hotel has many amenities that should appeal to travelers.

The interior is very nice and cosy. When I saw the reviews, I wanted to stay, even if it was too much, and I was right. In the lobby, you can enjoy detox water, slightly sweetened iced tea, and drinks such as coffee and hot chocolate. There were always little pound cakes, cookies and candy. It was really helpful to be able to come back to the hotel and bring drinks straight into the room. The rooms are not very spacious, but the amenities are available at L'Occitane, and we did not use shampoo or any other items we brought from Japan. There was also a cleanliness feeling, and the bathtub had a jet bath. I was able to rest very slowly. The staff were all friendly and courteous.

We are just back after staying three nights in this wonderful hotel. It's in a great location, in an old building overlooking one of the canals The decor is glorious, especially on the ground floor. And our room was lovely. There was butterfly wallpaper on the walls and the basin in the shower room was also decorated with butterflies. The bed was very comfortable. There is a bar where breakfast is also served: a buffet which includes almost everything you could possibly want and later in the day they serve drinks and bar snacks which we had on our last evening, and which we very much enjoyed. The staff are friendly and helpful. I am a wheelchair user and there are steps up to the hotel, but every time we came back from a day or evening out, as soon as we got there, there was someone to bring my rather heavy wheelchair up the steps. Altogether, I couldn't fault it.

We stayed here for a week, and it was absolutely the most perfect location. It was a maximum 20 minute walk to anywhere in the city, whether the museum district, the Anne Frank house, or Central Station. Very safe and tons of restaurants and shopping nearby, including the Nine Streets district. But maybe the best part was the interior decoration of the hotel, which was absolutely beautiful. They really gave thought to every detail, from the lobby to the rooms. My only minor criticisms are that: the room we stayed in, which was a double room with a Canal view, did not have adequate space to store your clothing; and the breakfast seemed a little expensive, and so we wound up eating breakfast away from the hotel each morning. I will definitely stay here again on my return trip to Amsterdam.

Exceptional, elegant, opulent hotel. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. We had a double deluxe room with jacuzzi bath Nice touch! Bathroom, bedrooms areas clean and decorated very well..separate toilet very clean. The Hand flannels and l'occitane shower 🚿, shampoo & conditioner , all available in Bathroom. Bathrobes and signature Estheréa slippers too. Iron boards and iron available in wardrobe. Good seating area in room and a coffee machine. The room.has a fridge with free milk. Tv channels in English and Dutch. Good lighting and lovely carpet throughout Ample wardrobe storage .there is no usb charging points but you can ask reception for an adaptor. The communal areas near reception houses a coffees machine free to use, as well as free daily selection of cakes and biscuits. Lots of sweets to. You can leave your luggage with reception on checkout day and they will.hold it for you. We didnt have breakfast, but used the bar; drinks fairly priced . The gym was well equipped but we didn’t use it. I would highly recommend this hotel.. to date its the best hotel i have stayed in. 10/10..

Pretty perfect. Nice staff, beautiful rooms, beautiful common area. Lobby bar only accepts room charges, which prevents non-guests from taking up bar space, ensuring there’s always a comfy spot for guests. Jars full of candy everywhere, cats that visit the lobby, free coffee stations in lobby, frequently replenished complimentary cookie dish in lobby (and good cookies!, not just store bought stuff). I know other reviews mentioned tiny rooms, so if that is a concern opt for a family room (or imagine a suite, but my personal experience was a family room). It was decent size, well appointed. Nice surprise to find heated bathroom floor (which I used to dry my rain dampened jeans). If I was forced to complain, I could only comment on things beyond the hotel’s control: noisy young adults making merry on the street below until the wee hours and in the morning clomping from hotel guest above (its an old, old building so not much that can be done about it). I’m so glad I chose to step out of my points ecosystem and stay at this well located, canal front charmer of a hotel. Perfection.

Amazing stay at this stunning boutique hotel. Stayed here for four days in a beautiful room overlooking the canal. The room was well equipped with tea coffee facilities, fridge, hairdryer and loccitane toiletries. The bed and pillows were extremely comfy and slept well. The hotel is very clean and everywhere is finally polished and immaculate. Refreshments are available throughout the day for guests to enjoy in the reception area. The breakfast was plentiful and the system worked well although you do have to book the day before a time to make sure there is a table. A choice of hot and cold food to choose from and delicious cakes. The hotel has a lovely area to sit and relax in the sumptuous chairs and the feel of the decor is of elegance and grandeur. The hotel is in walking distance of many attractions and also the central tram line. The canal tour is well worth it and takes in many photo opportunities. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The Valentine’s Prosecco and cookies were a lovely gesture as were the birthday chocolates. Thank you for a wonderful stay. Highly recommend and would love to revisit.

We took the train to Central and walked from there. It was about ten to fifteen minutes and really straightforward. We had cases but just wheeled them.
