We stayed in Hotel Estherea for two nights last weekend for a short city break. The hotel is one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in. It is beautifully and tastefully decorated with such attention to detail and no expense spared. Our room was small as all Amsterdam rooms are but was so cleverly designed it did not feel small or cramped. The hotel bar was lovely and the bar snacks were great. The staff from the housemaid to the reception staff were all really friendly and helpful. The location was fantastic, it is a short walk to the Royal Palace and only a 20 min walk to Centraal Station, but the surrounding area is lovely and filled with nice shops, restaurants and bars. We had a canal view room which I would recommend. The hotel provide small cakes and biscuits in the lounge in the afternoon which is a lovely thing to come back to after a day sightseeing. The hotel also has a resident cat who is gorgeous and appears in the lounge later in the day but minds his own business. I plan to stay here again everytime I visit Amsterdam.

What a pleasant surprise on entering hotel, decor was beautiful and staff were amazing - pastries, coffee and lollies in foyer all day for guests. Rooms were larger than I had thought, beautifully decorated, bed was very comfy, seperate toilet to bathroom and lovely amenities. Thought hotel was well located for restaurants and shopping and was easy walk to Dam Square. Loved our time in Amsterdam and Hotel Estherea - hope to return.

The hotel rooms are terribly small. Uncomfortably so....! Literally can't function with 2 people in the average room. Even the larger rooms are uncomfortably small. Rethink staying here! No restaurant and you have to walk or cab everywhere for lunch and dinner. Not fun on a wintry day!!!The staff is young and makes mistakes regarding restaurants etc. Emma told us the restaurant was open so we took a cab only to find out it would not be open for another 1 hour and 39 minutes. Then we had to walk and find something else to eat. She knew I injured my knee on this trip and she offered to get us a cab when we were done with dinner. However, when we called back she had great difficulty figuring out where we were which was several doors down from the restaurant she made reservations at for us. Just inexperienced front desk staff who refused to take responsibility for their actions. They should have just apologized and we would have accepted that. The hotel is nice enough and we discerning customers. It wasn't that at all. We do expect a hotel large enough to function i. and competent front desk staff. zEven the manager on duty said we don't typically call cabs for guests when they are off property. Ok...I hear that but then don't tell me you will when we are leaving the hotel. Just doesn't make sense.

Disappointed with the smell of SMOKE from the cafe below our window. Room 206.Room was beautifully decorated, as was the whole hotel. Stunning decor. The room was not the one I thought we would get which was shown on the information when I booked so disappointed with that. Very comfortable, however and quiet with the windows shut. View was at the back. Very busy and receptionist was a little stressed. There was a lack of communication from the Reception staff when we arrived. The bell boy was great. Great location. Wonderful bed. Thoroughly recommend Lucius restaurant across the way.

This hotel is the best! Design is unique, staff is friendly and helpful, and the breakfast has anything you might want. It is near a tram stop so easy to get to museums or other attractions. I highly recommend this place.

Customer service is an unknown word. Errors by reception staff on repeat (room which did not correspond to the reservation, parking which did not correspond to the information given). Incorrect information provided. Inflexibility and disfunctionality of the breakfast service for a 4-star hotel

This is the most luxurious hotel I have ever stayed in. From the beautiful bedrooms with the most comfortable beds and brilliant toiletries to the luxury breakfast and free sweets, cakes and hot drinks in the Lobby. Even the staff were wonderful from the front desk to the porter to the waitress in the breakfast area. We had a little accident in the street outside and the staff couldn't do enough for us. Even giving us a delicious box of chocolates. The room was beautifully appointed and spacious with a separate toilet, which is a bonus. There was a Nespresso coffee machine with tea and coffee pods and a lovely comfortable seating area to enjoy it in. This was a lovely place to stay right in the centre of Amsterdam with lots of places to eat and drink nearby. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

This hotel is a dream for Instagram lovers! Downstairs has been exquisitely decorated and is beautiful, so much to look at (and photograph) We came to celebrate a big anniversary, so decided to treat ourselves to a special break. On the surface our room was lovely - very pretty. However it was tiny and we couldn't have managed more than the couple of nights we had in such a small space. The bathroom again, at first glance was fine - but actually using it was a different story. The shower was set back behind a shelf which meant there was no way to actually stand under it for a proper shower. And the fixtures were bolted to the wall with very basic (ugly) screws. The coffee machine inour room was supplied with paper cups rather than China, and powdered milk even though there was a fridge. Breakfast was very nice, but to be told you only have 45 mins in the restaurant to take breakfast was not what we would have expected! We had a fabulous stay in Amsterdam and would love to go back again, but perhaps not to this hotel. Its very much designed to impress at first glance. Perhaps other rooms are better appointed than ours, but we didn't experience that.
