The Hilton Amsterdam garners praise for its attentive service and prime location, ideal for exploring the city's attractions. Guests have called out the high level of cleanliness and the historical charm that permeates the atmosphere. While many enjoy the comfortable rooms with scenic views and appreciate the hotel's amenities, some travelers note that the decor feels outdated and question the value in relation to pricing and room expectations. Despite these mixed feelings, the hotel's professional staff and well-maintained environment contribute to its appeal.

First, the location. Easy to get to via bus from Schiphol. In a quiet residential neighborhood overlooking a canal and lovely homes. There are restaurants and some shops within a six minute walk. If you want a bar of chocolate or a box of crackers, expect to walk, no 7-11 or similar close by.
Second, the people. Wow everyone went out of their way to be helpful from the Front Desk (changing cash, adjusting reservation, noticing we were charged for two rental bikes, not one ), to the fantastic Concierges and bell staff (who arranged for bikes, taxis, package drop off/pickup) to the unflappable wait staff in Roberto’s for a wonderful buffet.
Third, if you’re a Hilton Diamond, there is a charming lounge on the top floor — all windows overlooking the City. Drinks, food, snacks, wifi, all very nice.
Fourth, the rooms we had was more than sufficient for our 3 day visit to AMS. Clean with crisp linens. USB ports galore for charging.

Would I stay here again? Definitely. It’s away from the crowded scene but only a 15 minute walk to the Rijksmuseum (sp?) and the Van Gogh museum.

Hotel is spotlessly clean, staff very friendly. Check in easy and quick. Room nice and spacious all essentials. A little out of the main town but a 5 minute walk to the tram stop and a No2 tram straight into town 10-15 mins so good location to go back to for peace and quiet. Tram tickets available along with city maps from concierge. Be careful of mini bar on room though, if you move something even to have a look, it charges your credit card for a purchase even if you don't eat and/or drink. Not good from a Hilton. All in all a plesant stay

Me and my partner stayed here for 3 nights. We were a little worried as we read some reviews that the hotel wasn’t near city centre but due to its amazing reviews and being Hilton fans we decided to stick to what we have booked. We were not disappointed & will never go anywhere else when visiting Amsterdam!
Tram only took 10 minutes and the hotel is stunning.

From check-in to check out all team members that we interacted with were so friendly and helpful… even the cleaners were always so nice! I just want to add that the cleaners do a fantastic job here too.

We were visiting for my Fiancés birthday and the team went above and beyond to make sure it was special. Especially Isabella, who I contacted before our trip, thank you very much for organising everything.
Even the breakfast team went to the effort of making a fuss, bringing out French toast with a sparkler that even surprised me as it wasn’t requested.

I wish I could give more than 5*’s for the customer service here.

The best trip, the best birthday I could’ve hoped for my fiancé!

Can't wait to return... Recommending to all family and friends.

This hotel is elegant and conveniently located within walking distance (about 15 minutes) to the museums and other destinations with the added bonus of being in a more residential and quieter area of the city. We came here with family and we are all walkers but that said, I think this is a pleasant walk to the attractions, particularly in nice weather. This hotel is special as it is where John and Yoko honeymooned and held their historic "bed-in-for-peace". The team here is wonderful; extremely friendly and accommodating without being overly so. At breakfast we enjoyed Teo's attentive service and at the Front Desk, Helena and Naomi were so pleasant and helpful. Nade, Gio and Hari were each very helpful and kind providing excellent concierge service. I want to strongly recommend Roberto's restaurant at this hotel. The food is authentic Italian cuisine and delicious with a very appealing menu. The gin and tonic here is made with Italian gin and absolutely delicious! Francesca and Pasiano are extremely knowledgeable and delightful in providing great service. If you are lucky, you'll meet them. Nico provided efficient bell service upon our arrival. Kudos to this amazing team and beautiful hotel! I absolutely recommend this hotel without hesitation.

Stunning hotel with amazing staff right in the heart of Amsterdam. These few words should sum up my impressions here.

I have traveled alone and arrived very early during the day, staff was kind enough to ensure I had a room available to check in, once I arrived in my room I was taken aback by the amazing view (attached photo).

Room is very spacious and fresh, bathroom has enough space (I am a 100kg/2m tall guy so large space in bathroom is welcome 🙂)

Breakfast is served at the Robertos restaurant where you’ll be served by a Italian at heart core team whom are a all very bright and helpful people.

Hope to see you again in September!

I came to Amsterdam to see family after a year and also to help my mother move out of her previous place. I decided to stay at the Hilton just as a natural decision. The room quality was absolutely perfect. The cleanliness, room size, furniture layout, etc. I was probably lucky to get a room on the 8th floor, as the view was absolutely amazing. The breakfast was phenomenal on top of that. The scrambled eggs were excellent but the size of the portion of the sausages on the side was a little excessive. The fruit salad was good too, fresh fruits are used, all sweet and delicious. The staff were the most kind staff I have ever encountered in a hotel. Since my plans for my mother couldn’t work, I wanted to book my mother a room, and the receptionist was kind enough to offer a room right next to mine for a discount. The COVID situation is handled very well at this place. Every square centimeter of the place is sanitized. Overall, this place is highly recommended from me especially for the price at the time of my stay.

We visited Amsterdam for a short weekend away and the team and Hilton were incredible.

We were originally booked by Easy Jet Holidays into the Max Brown Hotel in the city centre, however upon arrival at 3pm, they had no confirmation of our booking for 6 anywhere.
Easy Jet didn’t send our booking to them so we were left homeless in the middle of Amsterdam.

After a few hours on the phone to Easy Jet, they booked us in for 2 nights at the Hilton Apollolaan, Amsterdam. The staff at the Hilton were incredible.
We were greeted upon arrival, and had a hassle free check in. The rooms were clean and well presented. The facilities and amenities available are outstanding. Nothing is ever too much, they take your bags for you to a holding room if you have to check out a few hours before your flight and want to explore.

Although the location isn’t directly in the centre, we didn’t find this a problem with it being a 30 minute walk, which was easy as you can explore the streets of Amsterdam on the way. Lovely walk. Or there are trams in all directions only a few minutes walk away.

The customer service is what they should take pride in. Nothing is ever a problem and the staff make sure to go above and beyond to help you.

I would just like to say a special thank you to all the staff at the Hilton. After Leaving a sentimental childhood toy in the room, the staff went above and beyond to try find him. I was devastated expecting to never see him again but two weeks later, the toy has just arrived back in England and I couldn’t be more thankful to everyone involved. They kept me informed daily and provided the most amazing service.

The staff are a credit to Hilton, and should all be thanked individually for there efforts in making our stay a pleasure.

Thank you Hilton Amsterdam for all you help during my stay and upon my return to the UK. I would definitely come back and stay again. THANK YOU!

Amy

Yes, it's a chain hotel. However, sometimes when everything about your trip is unknown, staying at a Hilton is a welcome comfort. This location in particular was in a quiet and lovely residential neighborhood, about a 15 mins walk to the Van Gogh and Rijksmuseum or a 4 block walk to the #2 tram to the center of town of the #397 bus to the airport.
The rooms were exceptionally clean and spacious, the staff friendly and accomodating and the free breakfast (for Diamond members - not sure for others) was delicious and offered a mostly English array with various breads, cheeses and fruits. Excellent coffee as well.

A highly recommended Hilton and a lovely respite from the hustle and bustle of central Amsterdam.

Recently stayed here for a weekend.
It was our 4th stay within the last 12 months and unfortunately we won't be back for a while since the Diamond benefits (that were excellent during our previous 3 stays) have been seriously downgraded.

Only a modest upgrade to an executive room (plenty of junior suites were available when I checked), reduced choices for happy hour drinks (limited to 2 per person) and extremely limited snacks provided (I am not kidding when I say that they obviously budget 1€ pp to create these snacks).

Breakfast was good (but charging extra for benedict eggs is a bit nitpicking).

We won't rush back, there are definitely better value options to be found in Amsterdam at the moment (also for non-elite guests).

Visiting family in Amsterdam and this hotel was a bonus. The location was convenient, and staff were always ready to answer questions or provide service. We were able to walk or Uber to all tourist locations. We were able to access the complimentary sky lounge which was also excellent. This will be our go-to Amsterdam hotel going forward.
