A fabulous hotel in a wonderful location near Amsterdam's great museums. Lovely communal area and lovely rooms. The staff were exceptional: nothing was too troublesome for them. Perhaps heating in the bathroom would have been good, but otherwise a brilliant hotel! Would highly recommend.

We stayed at the JL for three nights for Christmas, we really enjoyed it. The location is great, it is a 5-minute walk to many museums, such as the Van Gogh and Rijksmuseum and The IAmsterdam letters. There are many great restaurants and high shopping right in the area. Everything you could want to see or do is easily accessible,...

Would be better to book direct with hotel as there are several types of room. We were allocated a room below ground level so could only see little bit of sky above brick wall! Having said that the room was more than adequate though a little small. Breakfast (paid for at hotel-cheaper) was plentiful, lots of choice but a little...

I decided to stay in Amsterdam a few days while transiting between Africa and the US, and this has been paradise! It's a 17€ hotel shuttle ride from the airport (tickets by Starbucks in the airport) or take public transport. The hotel is two blocks from the major museums (Rikjsmuseum, Van Gogh) and boat rides on the canals. There is...

Located in a very quiet street, close to the luxury shop street and close to museums. Rooms are comfortable and quiet. People are extremely nice. Because it is an old building you could be a little bit bothered by the noise in the corridor when people go in or out their room and you can also hear the person walking...

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
