Always welcomed by a smile from the friendly staff a stay there is a absolute treat when visiting Amsterdam. All the rooms have different Holland related themes and are...

Great location (just at the perfect distance to the tumult of the center of the city, but still not too far away, just enough to be away from all the noise), cosy atmosphere, very friendly staff. Great for solo travellers! This was my first time travelling by myself and the idea of it was very formidable-all my worries were gone...

Alright - I'm a newbie backpacker and I was absolutely frightened at the thought of travelling across Europe on my own as an Asian woman, first time in Europe. You would think that Asia is a lot less safe but that's another story altogether. Amsterdam was my landing point from Singapore arriving at an ungodly hour of 7am. Goodness knows...

Easily the best hostel you could ask for. Super helpful and friendly staff. Stayed in a mixed 4 bed dorn (called cheese, rooms have names not numbers) with an ensuite. Bed was incredibly comfortable, and large. Each bed had its own reading light which was very convenient. Lockers were a bit small but there was enough space in the room...

This hostel was so nice it felt more like a social hotel than a hostel!! The room I stayed in (I think it was big brothel?) was very clean and had big lockers for storage, which was good because the door to the room didn't lock by itself (this is my ONLY complaint about the whole hostel). Bathroom was also...

We stayed for 7 nights including New Years. At other hostels we found it hard to meet people due to a number of reasons. We met really great people here, including some of the staff. This ensured that we had a wonderful New Years surrounded by new friends. We had a double room which really felt like home for the...

Probably the best hostel I have stayed at, clean, fun, awesome service, made Amsterdam feel like home. I was sick for 3 days and one of the staff (Elina) made me tea and looked out for me. An amazing place with amazing staff will go next time I'm in Amsterdam.

Good for young, budget traveller with small shared dorms and communal kitchen. Welcoming staff and an ok location. Older travellers looking for less buzz may prefer alternatives, although it suited us for 2 nights.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Cocomama offers the best of both worlds in a super central location in Amsterdam. The luxury and comfort of a hotel and the atmosphere (and budget) of a hostel. The rooms are all Holland themed and range from private doubles to 6-bed dorms (and everything in between). You might share a bathroom in some of the dorms, but those luxurious mattresses and feather duvets are everywhere. Even more importantly, at MAMA, you're not on your own. Travel stories are shared, as is the dinner table. It's a place where you'll make friends and hang out with other international trotters alike in the private garden, living room, cinema, or cook dinner in the fully-equipped kitchen (perfect to keep costs down). And if that doesn't keep you busy enough, the staff organises tons of activities, and Joop (the adorable house cat, a.k.a. man of the house), is there to get cuddled 24/7 too. ... more   less
