Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.

We spent three days at the hotel at the end of January 2020. I had stayed at the hotel for work some thirteen years ago and retained incredibly positive memories. This trip was with my wife to celebrate a special birthday and with our teenage children. I have not got a single negative thing to say about the hotel which is now my absolute favourite in the world! They offer a masterclass in service, having enough staff to ensure that you are spoiled and incredibly well looked after but treading with inspiration the delicate line between being attentive and stifling. All the staff are ridiculously polite, helpful and make the place feel special and worth the money. A huge thank you to the entire team who made our stay so special.

The last time I stayed there was about 6 years ago, and my then-husband wrote the review. I think it was two stars, also. We had been appalled by the price vs value vs quality aspects of the hotel, and didn't hesitate to mention it, since we thought the hotel would take it to heart and improve. I don't believe they did. The last time, we were given a suite on a top floor overlooking the street - don't ever do this if you want some sleep. So this time we made sure that the room was inside, away from the incredible noise that a "waking up" Amsterdam can make. Oh My God. Never again. We paid in US$ about $610 for party-goers until God knows when. I finally pulled out my ear phones (try sleeping with ear phones, it isn't pretty), covered my ears, turned on an audio book, and got some sleep that way. The food was ok, but when it takes forever to get it, and it is so prettily arranged on the plate, I would like to remind the chef that it also has to be well cooked and taste good. It was passable. I am reminded that this hotel is more affordable for those who live in Europe and pay in Euros. At the current exchange rate, this hotel is extremely expensive. It is a gorgeous spot to stay, a perfect spot, in fact, for staying in Amsterdam, which is the reason I gave it a second try.

Really lovely hotel in a great location for exploring the beautiful city of Amsterdam. The front of house, bar team and housekeeping were all friendly, helpful and professional. Lovely room overlooking the inner courtyard, slightly small but perfectly OK for a couple of nights as a base. All clean, good quality linen on a comfortable bed, plenty of towels and toiletries. Breakfast expensive but there are loads of very good cafes, bars and restaurants all easy walking distance.

The Dylan excelled in every area. We were fortunate to spend NY Evening at Vinkeles for dinner - 5star meal. The Service at every level and from all departments was outstanding. Its location was central and beautiful. Comfortable walks to two world- class exhibitions at the RijkMuseum and the Hermitage. One minor criticism was the lack of English language news and entertainment on the hotel’s TV. Our Junior suite with canal view was spacious and well appointed .
