We checked into this Hotel after Avalon river cruise. We stay at EXECUTIVE SUITE which is nice view from the windows. The bed was very comfort. We have room serviced dinner inside our room in order to enjoy the sunset view. It is very worth. I do think the view is better from room than 1st floor restaurant. Yes, it... More

We booked into this Hotel as part of our arrangements for a Tauck river cruise. We decided to come a day earlier to enjoy the sights of Amsterdam. The room was furnished in period pieces with floral wallpaper. It was a good size. The bed was very comfortable. Nice and firm. The bathroom was large. We had a separate toilet... More

This is a stunning hotel with lovely staff. The concierge service was excellent, nothing too much trouble or too insignificant. The room (suite) was clean and spacious with heavenly cotton bed linen and super large soft towels. Breakfast was very tasty and varried. We ate in the Brasserie and the food was stunning in taste and presentation. Well done to... More

We only had one night at this lovely 150 year old property located right on the Amstel river. Our room was lovely but it was marred by a screaming baby in the room next door. Every sound seemed to come straight through the connecting room door, which made sleep impossible. We did think of asking to change rooms but the... More

The hotel is an icon in Amsterdam. We picked it partly to take some photo s before the wedding in their gorgeous staircase. Breakfast is excellent as well. We had some initial trouble with noise coming from the hotel bar downstairs, but it was handled expertly. 5 star service! Would definitely come back

It is a shame that for such a well known hotel, some of the staff were more interested in talking amongst themselves than tending to the basic needs of the guests. A few times things that needed attention were neglected. When silverware needed to be replaced, we had to ask even though they cleared our plates and cutlery just moments... More

Redeemed a reward night to stay for 1 night on trip to Amsterdam. Hotel is celebrating 150 years and it is definitely one of the places to stay in Amsterdam. Staff were very friendly and efficient and the standard of accommodation was very high. Definitely consider staying here when I return to Amsterdam

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighborhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
