Stayed 4 nights. Comfortable room although no seperate bathroom. View onto lovely garden which would be amazing in warm weather. Excellent location with loads of bars and restaurants within walking distance but pleasantly quiet. Friendly staff. Breakfast OK. Reasonable price. Would stay again.

What a beautiful hotel. The staff treated us like royalty, we had a canal facing suite, three double windows. Right in the middle of Jordaan, so walking distance to the best restaurants and bars, or on the free hotel bikes. Breakfast in bed, the whole experience was simply exceptional. I can’t recommend enough.

This hotel was one of the best I have ever stayed at! Not only were the rooms beautiful - beds so comfortable, amazing shower, great products, and amazing view, but the staff was amazing! Hallia, Arik, Jovan, Tony and the entire staff made us feel so at home. Every morning and night we were greeted by the most pleasant staff who helped recommend and schedule some of our favorite meals and activities. And I cannot forget the amazing breakfast - so well staffed and delicious! HIGHLY recommend this hotel…will be back!

My sister and I stayed here and had the absolute best time! Our room was upgraded when we arrived, and the views of the canal were stunning! The location was superb too - right in the heart of Jordaan with a bunch of places to shop, eat, and stroll! We walked all day long and got to really explore the neighborhood. EVERYTHING is walkable from the Canal House! Everything. The rooms are cozy and classy. Bathrooms were very modern and updated. The hotel itself is a very old home, with beautiful halls and a stunning great room. It was boutique and felt luxurious. Location and physicality aside, Canal House has the best concierge / staff in all of Amsterdam! Not only were they knowledgeable of the area and made us reservations, but they were so friendly and entertaining!!! Eduardo is an absolute gem. He was so helpful and entertained us at the bar for hours!! He and the rest of the staff made this place so memorable! If you’re looking to stay in Amsterdam, look no further. We will be cherishing these memories, harbored at the Canal House, for the rest of our lives. Don’t pass it up!

Room Tip: Just understand that because it’s an old house, there are a lot of stairs.

This hotel s amazing! Our first room was a bit loud and the staff upgraded us to a fantastic, quiet room. Customer service was outstanding! The rooms are well appointed and the beds are like sleeping on a cloud! The view of the canal was exquisite ! A breakfast buffet is available, if desired, before heading out to explore the city. The staff was extremely helpful providing tour information and helpful tips! The hotel is near many of the popular attractions. They also have a fantastic bar as soon as you enter the hotel.

Canal House is located along one of the canals in the center of Amsterdam. It is a small boutique hotel, a real gem. Our room was beautiful, spacious and had all the amenities. The staff was friendly and very helpful. They suggested restaurants, called cabs for us and booked same day tours. While we're not "big breakfast" people, we couldn't pass up the wonderful breakfast served in the main dining room overlooking a garden. We had a wonderful stay there and we look forward to going back.

This is an amazing hotel. It is beautiful and our room overlooking the canal was absolutely stunning. It is in an amazing location quiet and lovely restaurants nearby. The small bar area is so relaxing and we always had a drink there before heading out. The staff are just brilliant. All very helpful - especially Josh who provided us with many great tips - including the local Italian restaurant that we ended up going to twice! We would highly recommend this hotel and location !

If you are looking for a luxury hotel with all the bells and whistles of 5 star service perhaps Canal House is not your kind of place. It's not cheap, but neither are any of the hotels in Amsterdam along the canals, with canal views. The hotel is located on the Keizergracht Canal, which is the second of three of the main canals of Amsterdam. It is widely considered one of the most beautiful canals. The location does not come cheap. We had a room called the "Outstanding Room". I chose this one because it definitely had a canal side view. It was very roomy (36 sq metres) and beautifully furnished in an open plan style. Those of you who want a closed off door to the bathroom might not go for the open plan design. The staff were fantastic on our visit in early September 2023. They carried our (very heavy) bags up the 3 narrow flights of stairs for us and brought them down for us when we checked out. The beautiful garden out the back is perfect for an afternoon drink. There is a small bar at the hotel which is great for a relaxed atmosphere. The breakfast is served in a buffet style. It is small in selection of items but everything on it is high quality (small producer yoghurt, fresh fruit, freshly squeezed juice, freshly baked quiche and the pastries, coffee as you like it on demand, or tea if you prefer). The hotel is located very close to the Jordaan area, which is our favourite part of the city. It's full of excellent cafes and boutiques and has a far more local vibe to it than anything up around the touristy Dam Square area. The only negative that stops me giving a 5 star review is that the air conditioning struggles in Summer. I get it, the hotel is a very old traditional canal house that was not built for air conditioning. It is installed but really struggled to cool our room, especially with the beautiful big windows facing the morning sun. It's not going to stop us returning here as our favourite Amsterdam hotel though (just not from June - August). Other notable things to consider: The hotel is a five minute walk to Ann Frank's House. Yes, it's a 30 minute walk to the Rikjs Museum and Van Gogh Museum. We Ubered there very easily instead of walking. Dam Square is Tourist Central and a bit tacky. It's a 15 min walk away if you want to get there. I generally avoid that area. I prefer the genuine local character around Jordaan. Try Kessens for lunch/brunch. It's an excellent cafe 10 minutes walk away. Pesca is also excellent if you like a fish restaurant with a fun vibe (it's a 15 minute walk).

From the moment we checked in we knew we were going to love this place. Everyone was so friendly and helpful, with suggestions on things to do and how to get there. The room was perfect, the location was very central and almost everything we did was within walking distance. We were not disappointed and wish we could have had the same hotel for the rest of our journey. Thank you Canal House employees for making this a very unforgettable trip!

Well located for wandering around the city this is a beautiful old building with a modern but comfortable interior. Our room overlooked the garden, was very quiet and a lot of thought had gone into designing a room geared towards a guests needs. The large bed was comfortable, there was tea and coffee making, a brilliantly stocked mini bar, small fridge, good lighting for makeup, seating area, bathrobes and an excellent shower with lovely toiletries. The only improvements I would make was some hooks on the small lobby to hang coats and a magnifying mirror. The garden is beautiful and we really appreciated just sitting out here reading after spending the day exploring. Breakfast is continental and has a good selection but it would be nice to have a cooked option like an omelette or scambled eggs. Staff are a major asset to the hotel offering excellent advise on local places to eat and things to see. Our recommendations are: Max (indonesion), Mamas and Tapas, Winkel 43 (cappuccino and apple pie) also Flagship do excellent canal tours with local guides, Secret City Trails (fun treasure trail to discover the city) and finally Rembrandts House was interesting and there was a brilliant printmaking demo.
