Stayed one night in a room overlooking the harbor. Hip and neat room. Beds are good. Neat bathroom with rain shower. Only downside was that in the room the ventilation automatically turns on and off, which you hear something. The rooms themselves and the hallway are nicely soundproofed. The breakfast was very extensive, in the open kitchen you see that the cook makes the Scrabbled eggs fresh. Breakfast can also be had on the terrace or on the benches by the water, lovely place to sit. Under the hotel you can park for a fee, when we arrived the parking garage was occupied and we had to park on the street for a fee. Not the safest place to park, lots of shards of glass from smashed car windows. Too bad Dutch guests can only be spoken in English. Hotel is not very cheap but well worth the money.

This is a really nice hotel. We wanted to stay by the river this time so booked a room which overlooked the river and the marina. The room was lovely, really comfortable bed and nice bathroom and shower. Nice shampoo and soap even. The staff were so, so friendly and helpful. We rang for more clothes hangers and they came in less than 5 minutes.

Breakfast was delicious. Everything seemed to be pretty freshly cooked and nice range. We never had to wait for anything and stayed three nights.

In terms of location, great views and there is a nice Skybar on 10th floor too. Right next to Marina and its a nice walk to the tram. Its about 15 minutes on tram to central station and they go every 7 minutes. The travel cards are really cheap, 21 euros each for three days.

If you are a football fan, 66 bus stop is 3 minutes away and takes 22 minutes to Ajax and the stadium tour is brilliant. You get to see the non touristy bits of Amsterdam on the route too.

But getting back to the hotel if you dont want to stay right in the city centre, this place is superb.

We stayed two nights and loved the rooms, staff, breakfast, view and location so much we went back for another two nights at the end of our trip! Getting to downtown was an easy Uber ride away, we loved coming home to the cozy rooftop bar and the breakfast was just icing on the cake. I also loved that they had a beautiful bee and bird hotel in the outdoor patio area!

My room was very cold and there was no way of heating it or at least balancing the temperature with a setting on the AC so for me purely this reason is enough for a poor review. I was offered extra blankets or an in room heater but I do think the room should be able to sustain in room temperature control as the default. Each guest have their own preferences and should easily be able to adjust per need.

Staff service readiness and attitude needs some work. I was not greeted nor made to feel welcomed on my arrived but did get good service on my departure so take out of that what you like. When asking if I could leave som postcards (yes I still send those) at the reception for their post pick up I was denied with the recommendation to go find a postbox.

The bathroom was mouldy and the room was dusty with someone else's hair here and there so for me, the housekeeping on request simply does not work. I understand the concept but in practice you are in a shared space so the cleanliness is of utmost importance. The mould might also be caused by the very inefficient ventilation and not just bad cleaning. To request the cleaning you could indicate with a "housekeeping" light outside your room door but the request was ignored so no clean towels (which did not dry because it was so cold and humid) and no garbage taken out for days. When housekeeping finally came, I was in the room and asked them to come back in a while after I had left but they just stated that by then their shift is over, so another day with no clean towels.

The double bed was made of two twin beds but there was nothing to keep the beds together so they come apart very easily.

The TV did have very little international channels so brush up on your Dutch before you go if you want to watch TV. Also the alarm which was integrated with the TV did not work.

The reception and restaurant areas were a bit chaotic and loud. The space has very little soft materials or other sound deadening solutions. The restaurants high table sofas were quite uncomfortable.

Also worth a mention, no minibar in the room. I don't use the content but as a fridge for my own snacks and beverages. You can get a cooler by request.

My room had a balcony which was nice but no seating on the balcony which would have been nice as it was actually warmer outside than inside on some days.

I spent two days in the waterfront room, beautiful spacious room but no soundproofing what so ever, all discussions from the restaurant can be heard into the room. I was also one day in the Plastic Whale room which was ok but a bit cramped for 20 people so ok for a smaller group.

For the sustainability principles of this hotel; lovely idea but it seems that the concept has not been thought through fully and there are gaps that need some further development.

We stayed very recently at the Four Elements Hotel in Ijburg. For all that the staff were pleasant and clearly trying hard, overall I would rate the hotel as ‘middling-to-bad’.

Firstly, In an effort to be more environmentally friendly the hotel rooms are fitted with low energy AC units. This is fine in principle but in practice it means they are incapable of cooling the room down. We therefore had a hot, humid, and ultimately miserable stay with very little sleep.

For some reason we were also charged an additional €10 by the hotel because we wanted our baby to have a cot, rather than having him unsafely sharing a twin bed with us. It wasn’t entirely clear how the hotel feels they can justify charging extra for such a basic and necessary amenity.

As well as being hot and damp, the people designing the rooms had clearly prioritised form over function. The bathroom had an unnecessarily large, thick glass door which looked good but was entirely impractical (and noisy). The cups provided for tea and coffee looked good but were useless as crockery and burned your hands when you used them. The glass shower screen looked good, but didn’t prevent water from pouring all over the floor.

Finally, the hotel is covered in spiders. This is true of much of Ijburg and as I understand it is something to do with an unbalanced ecosystem on these manmade bits of land. However, bearing in mind the Four Elements is a hotel supposedly catering to the comfort of its guests you would think they’d have done something about it. The issue is most notable in the 10th floor Sky Bar which is impressive at first glance - that is until you see the many, active, large spiders dangling between you and a great view of the surrounding waterscape. The hotel is at pains to let you know that they encourage the spiders as they keep the mosquitos at bay but in our experience we were still bitten to smithereens by mosquitos. So if you’re in the vast majority of the world’s population that finds spiders unpleasant to look at and not something you associate with a hotel stay, be prepared to be disappointed.

Large hotel outside amsterdam easily accessible by public transport.
Large very modern room, "industrial" furniture large comfortable bed but it is necessary to understand the lighting system of the room controlled by a black switch on a dark wall placed very low. You get up at night and the light turns on automatically, which makes you well awake.... same to turn on the office, see in the entrance...
Quite impersonal welcome, the person at the reception does not find your name, I asked for an envelope, after asking the chef and opening all the drawers, she could not get me one!
Note a very well-stocked breakfast, apart from the misplaced coffee machine that hinders the passage

2 nights in a beautiful hotel in a top location on the water, fifteen minutes away (by public transport) from the center of Amsterdam. Got a super good deal via ViaLuxury.com, which included many extras; bottle of wine in room, drink and bites at sky bar, extensive breakfast. To top it all off, the room was also decorated with balloons and chocolates as a surprise - super thoughtfully arranged by receptionist Sakaina - (due to the birthday of both guests). Enjoyed it immensely and highly recommended on all levels!!

Great location - 5 min walk from a tram stop which takes you straight into the central station in 20mins
Room was average, for what we paid it could have been nicer. Very small and not very cosy. Was very clean though.
Staff were great, helpful and all spoke English.
We had an unexpected charge as we checked in, the deposit was €50 per person per night!!! So you can imagine that’s a lot of money to hand over as soon as you get there, especially when you are staying A few days. This was of course refunded once we had left but this still shocked us.
The upstairs bar was lovely for an evening drink! Definitely recommend it.

The stay was pretty good and would be perfect if we weren't mistreated so much by the housekeeping maid. Yes, you read correctly! The housekeeping maid was completely unpolite with us while we were leaving the room. The reason was: I got a celebration package from the Hotel, and the Hotel decorated the room so I and my friend could celebrate her birthday, so there were balloons and confetti everywhere and also chocolate truffles (which was pretty nice and we love it). So, the next day, 5 minutes before we leave the room, the housekeeping was already ringing the door and asking how long we would still be there. I asked sorry (idk why I asked sorry, I was paying for the room) and asked for 5 more minutes. So we left, they enter, and when we were about to get to the elevator, he yelled from the room to wait. By the tone of the voice I thought I had broken something in the room, he said to us to come back. When we did, he looked around the room and in a very stressed way asked "Why did you have to do this mess in the room"...I explained that we had a celebration package and he seemed NOT to know what we were talking about and kept complaining. I said I would go to the reception because that was very inconvenient as was the Hotel itself to decorate the room...anyways, the front desk apologized and that was it. Nothing more was done. So, for this, I wouldn't recommend it to friends as the staff is not ready for situations like this. The facility is well decorated, the room was super nice and breakfast also, but I would not come back.

Had a enjoyable 3 night stay whilst watching Ed Sheeran at the weekend, the location is good, 15 mins from Central Station via the Tram.

Nice beach close by which is ideal for this time of year!!

Staff were great very helpful ( just need more of them!! )

Food was reasonable for this level of hotel & overall value for money was ok. If the weather is nice sit outside for breakfast as the views are good!!

The hotel still needs improvements & certainly needs more staff & the food could be better, overall though this hotel has the making of being a good 4 star property.

If you are looking for a cheaper option whilst staying in Amsterdam I would recommend.
