Within 20 minutes of checking in, we could see 4 bedbugs on the beds and they were even crawling up the walls. Watch out for room 104. When we complained, we were moved to a room on the 4th floor and it seems to be bedbug free. Trust me, we ripped the room apart looking before we went to sleep.... More

Hotels in Amsterdam were booked solid this weekend and I had to book France hotel. I had read reviews but had no option. This hotel was 700 Euro for 3 nights. It's more like a youth hostel or Homeless Acommodation. Rooms are poor, tiny, clean enough although bedding stained on arrival. Quite miserable staff, sometimes lucky to get a hello.... More

This has to be one of the worst hotels I have ever booked to stay in. I am normally very fair in my reviews but this place takes the proverbial biscuit. SERIOUSLY DO NOT STAY HERE, ITS A DUMP!. I did my usual research before booking into this hotel, checked on trip advisor and looked through more than one website.... More

This hotel has a very good location, not far from Central Station, nor the Red Light District and Zeedijk. Its on a quiet side street, next to a canal. We stayed here because we found a good price at one of the hotel booking websites, and the location was very nice. The room itself is not so good. Its small... More

the room appeared clean at first but after staying four nights, our bodies ended up covered in extremely itchy and red bites.....we found all sort of bugs crawling all over the place and even at night you could feel them on your body! They didn't even bothered to clean the toilet during the time we stayed there and towels and... More

Firstly, the hotel is not in front of one of the nice canals, this was a small canal in a so so part of the city. I booked in to stay at the hotel. I even paid up front to stay at the hotel. But once I arrived, I was told that I had to wait an extra hour to... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
