This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at in Europe. The guy at reception wasn't helpful, he was on a phone call to a customer when we arrived and was rude on the phone, making unprofessional comments once he was off the phone. The door to our room had a large hole that had been badly patched up,... More

I read reviews on here and though oh what have I done! We were more than pleased when we arrived, I understand the hotel has been refurbished and a excellent job they have made of it. Our room was modern, clean and comfortable. What more could you want? The hotel is in a great location a 10 minute walk from... More

Stayed here for 4 nights in June. Hotel is basic but clean and the location is very good. Breakfast is really nice served next door in Molly Malones. Would return again next year. Perfect for a 3/4 night stay. 2 mins away from the red light district and 5-10 min walk to dam square. Also very close to central station... More

Really near the train station and at 50 meters from the red light district. Good for the money, but don't ask for anything more then a bed and a bathroom. If you are looking for a place near the center and don't mind about anything else it's yhe place for you,if you are in search of comething more comfortable then just... More

This hotel is currently undergoing renovations but that didn't disturb our weekend stay. We had 3 triple rooms and a double room booked. All of them were spotless clean and in excellent condition. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom had an excellent power shower. The reception staff were very nice. Breakfast is served in the bar next door Mollys.... More

After reading the previous comments on this hotel, we believed we would find an unpleasant and dirty hotel, full of bed bugs, but we were rather surprised to hear that the rooms were freshly renovated. During our stay there, all the rooms in the 3 and 4 floor were new, but the renovation was still in progress which gave the... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
