It’s a decent hotel, and would get a 3.5 if that was an option. I’m afraid it’s not good enough to get a 4. It’s in a very good location close to the metro which takes you into the city centre in about 15 minutes. The staff are friendly and helpful. My big issue was a stain on the duvet, which was probably old but didn’t look appealing. If it wasn’t for that it would have been a good 4. Noisy outside due to smokers, but I can’t mark them down for that.

Very well priced, two minute walk from metro station. From the airport to the hotel was one train and one metro, really easy. While dining options close by are limited , a short one metro stop and you are in the arena district with countless options. Very helpful staff, nice rooms, not spotless but have seen much worse. Also very easy to access old town, that metro that stops out front will take you there in 25 minutes. We liked it because it took us away from the crowds.

Cheap and clean, close to Metro, easy to get to centrum. Perfect for stay in Amsterdam if want to save on hotel price. Modern designed rooms with TV . There are some works done on street but it didn't disturb my sleep at all. Yes bathroom shower has small door and water coming out but it doesn't affect stay.

Booked the hotel back in January for three nights in June. The hotel cancelled on me TWO DAYS out and then when I called up 30 mins later to re-secure the booking they said they room had gone from £300 to £900! Staff claimed it was against their policy to rebook after a cancellation but that's ridiculous and THEY CANCELLED ON ME.

Staff were awful when I tried to resolve the situation.

You need to be able to trust the bookings you make and that's why this was so poor, especially as I'd had it for 5 months! Go elsewhere.

Firstly, the breakfast. One star worthy. The bacon was barely edible; its genuinely difficult to make bacon that bad. Freezing cold too, as were the totally unseasoned scrambled eggs. Don't be a fool and go get breakfast in the city instead.

The rooms are quite nice, modern and comfy. Although the shower is the weirdest build ever. The screen is tiny and doesn't come out far enough so the whole bathroom gets completely soaked every time you have a shower. Just very strange.

Decent location, a walk away from the JC Arena with easy travel into the centre. Perfectly nice staff. Shoutout to the cleaners who always did a great job and cleaned reguarly.

€2 for a machine-made hot drink is a bit embarrassing.

If you stay here with the intention of sleeping on your bed and not spending a minute inside the hotel itself, you'll be alright. Go explore, spend as little time in the hotel as possible, and you'll have a great trip.

Worst experience ever. We booked a room, and it was a nightmare. Broken furniture, stains on the bed, living insects. We decided not to stay. They refused to refund price for 1 night, 87 euros.
We were trying to solve situation with booking.com where booking was done, they just passed the solution from the property management.

Nice comfortable bed . That’s it . No coffee, no bar , no ice, no nothing. A little too far from centre imo.
Only one room key , for the price of this hotel definitely not worth it.
Metro was close by . I’m still wondering why there’s no bar !!!!!!!!

Stayed at the Joy hotel in Feb for Valentines and 4 nights.
Cost for hotel was £190 but unknown to us there was a city tax fee of €4.60 each night that must be paid in advance.
Iron facilities are poor - Small iron board and iron is electric so no use.
Location is good to all tram stations and to and from airport.
The bed was super comfy like wow i wanted to take it home.
Shower was good very hot and high pressure
Vending machines for beer, sweets, snacks in lobby.
No shops round the area so you ned to travel to Centraal Station and buy your needs.

From hotel you can get a fixed price journey to airport for €50
If you download the UBER app and hire an UBER TAXI like me it was only €30

GETTING TO HOTEL FROM THE AIRPORT
I want to really help others as I never seen anyone cover this in previous reviews.
Follow these to get there hasstle free. Buy a ticket from airport to BREA ARENA Get the TRAIN(Not Tram) at platform 3 and stay on for 2 stops.
When in the BREA ARENA station get a 1,3,5 day pass ect then go up the stairs to the tram station.
Jump on 50 or 54 for 3 stops (get off at BULLEWIJK). From here its a 5 minute walk to the hotel.

GETTING INTO THE TOWN FROM THE HOTEL
Walk 5 minutes to BULLEWIJK Metro Station.
Get on the 54 for 11 stops which is where the tram terminates (CENTRAAL STATION)

GETTING TO THE HOTEL FROM THE TOWN CENTER
Walk to CENTRAAL STATION.
Jump on the 54 to GEIN and get off 11 stops at BULLEWIJK
Walk 5 minutes to hotel.

I very rarely complain about anything, but I had to write about my really upsetting experience at this hotel. First off, the hotel is absolutely fine. It's clean with nice rooms and easy to get in and out of amsterdam by the metro. However, our experience was ruined by the check in process.

The man that checked us in had a very offensive attitude towards me as a woman. My boyfriend Scott and I arrived and I approached the check in desk as the booking was in my name. The man refused to speak to me, and directed all the information towards Scott. Everything was 'Sir, here is your key,' etc. Scott noticed this and even tried to say "The booking is in her name, you should be speaking to her as well." But the man continued to act like I wasnt there, even when I asked questions. He would only speak to Scott. I wish I was brave enough to speak up about how upset he had made me and complained at the time, but I was too shy and said nothing.

I didn't get this man's name but he wore glasses and very short hair and was quite big. He should not be working in a customers service job with that kind of attitude. For the record, all other members of staff were professional and friendly, but he ruined our experience and made us very angry. I'm trying to track down the hotels email but having trouble, so I hope the management read this do something about this. I don't want any other female customers made to feel like this!

Stayed here with my husband. This hotel is quite far out from city centre!!! Very close to the metro station(about 4 min walk) but 20 mins from there to central station on metro. Rooms small but very clean. Bed extremely comfortable. No additional bits in hotel. Tea/coffee facilities but no milk or water provided. No little toiletries provided. Shower gel in dispenser on the wall, same as hand soap!!!
I requested shower cap but none available. Rooms well serviced daily. However no additional toilet roll given. Meaning we ran out on our last morning!!! Very basic.
Bar closed by 11.30-12.00 every night.
Tea/coffee vending machine and treats and drinks machine in reception.
Not suitable for people that like to return to hotel for a while during the day!!!! Not possible as out too far. However we found it did the job but would not stay here again mainly due to distance.
Continental breakfast available for €12.50 but we did not avail of this.
Staff were pleasant.

« S E » has described how to get to Bullewijk metro station. Go down the escalator, through the doors at the bottom, and turn left. On the minor road, turn left again. When you get to the main road, cross that road, then turn right. After maybe 200 metres you will see the Joy Hotel to your left, set back a bit off the road.

All I can tell you is that my room had a shower. Surely the best way to find out would be to contact the hotel. Their staff speak very good English.
