I had been a bit worried about some of the negative reviews but there was absolutely no need!! This is a beautiful old property, overlooking a canal and just a short walk to the city centre. The owner is lovely and very helpful. We had the Studio, which is a very large room covering the whole of the 4th floor....

The house is beautiful and in a very good location-close to everything. The house is very old so you hear everything above, below, outside-everything. I just put ear plugs in at night and slept fine. One night, the owner was playing piano at around 2 am, which did keep me up but at the same time it was funny. The...

Stayed at this place for 4 nights. 10 minutes walk from Amsterdam central station and 15 minutes walk from restaurants and bars. Has a great canal view. If you are person who likes antic style interior this is the place to stay. Nice friendly staff who will help you out with the sight seeing location. I did not feel I...

The owner completely ignored the early check-in notice provided at the time of booking. Fortunately, we were not too early, just 20 minutes before the regular check-in time. And we spent about 15 minutes knocking at the locked door and leaning over the doorbell button - with the same effect as if we were barking at the Moon. Finally, the...

Booked a 3 nights stay for a family trip with 2 kids (2 and 5 years old) but left after the first night. The building itself is impressive and really displays how people lived in the past. If you are into history, this is the place for you. Unfortunately not for us. We stayed in the suite at 3rd floor....

My family and I stayed in this amazing, old, charming canal house for three nights. We took over both rooms, so it felt like our place. The location was great, and the owner was helpful and friendly. We did not mind the steep (almost a ladder in places) stairs or the odd arrangements of the rooms and bathrooms. I would...

We have spent a weekend there. The building is really nice, the rooms are not that clean. The common area is really charming, but a real pity that the host and her child are spending all their time there, watching TV and eating so you can never really use it. When we asked about breakfast, we were informed that it...

Truly a heritage building which makes staying here very unique as well as being very close to the heart of Amsterdam. The owner will only let you in at their convenience and is not very flexible. Our flight was delayed (not our fault) so my wife tried emailing him to announce our late arrival but heard nothing back. When we...

It was like walking into a Vermeer's painting. the downside , no elevator , narrow stairs , pack light. The host Tuhami was very friendly , we took the breakfast there for an extra fee, very Dutch -very good. Close to most of the tourist attraction , walking distance to the train station and buses. We stayed five days ,...

Firstly our canal view was blocked by scafolding and blue mesh (see photo) while builders were constantly working on it, so we kept our curtains drawn the entire visit. We could hear them talking every morning as the house had no double glazing which woke us. Secondly there is no pride or upkeep on the property. Paint on the walls...

Staying in Centrum

Neighborhood Profile
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.

“Note: in the room leads a narrow circular staircase and it is almost impossible to raise large bags. Check the issue with B&B when you order in case you arrive for a long period and need all your stuff upstairs. (We left out our luggage in the lobby and took upstairs only bags and trolls with the necessary for accommodation stuff.)”
