Stayed in the apartment. Stairs to get in and up to bed room is a challenge but if you are reasonably dextrous no problem. Would bring my energy parents though. Double bed was a combo of two singles. Comfortable enough but ride in middle. Bathroom has miniscule sink, no where to set your stuff down. Shower has no soap rack...

Hi All, I would like to point out that i have booked this place 3months in advance, when i arrived there was strong smell of paint/glue present. I have contacted owner, who have said that they design clothing (in the same buinding) and had to use glue paint hence the smell. So we had to move to another place as...

Visited in November 2012 for my husbands 50th birthday. The owners couldn't have been more helpful. They provided us with emails beforehand advising of train travel, restaurants, things to do. Accommodation was compact but beautiful. Very central location. The breakfast in a wicker basket was a lovely touch, especially the bottle of champagne. Will definitely be booking again.

We arrived for a two night stay and were greeted by a very helpful lady who gave us tips on where to go and gave us times when our room would be cleaned and when breakfast would be left outside our door. The room was basic but had everything we needed and the location was perfect! The bed was so...

We were greeted on arrival by Eugenie who was very friendly and made us feel very welcome. We were shown to our room which was amazing, really pretty. The location was excellent and was really easy to find, right in the centre of everything you would need. Breakfast was left outside our room and was just enough (fruit, rolls, spreads)....

We stayed in the white room at the B&B. The room was small and sparse, but relatively clean and the large windows and curtains made it seem very peaceful and bright. The bed was actually quite comfy and it was the perfect place to crash after a long international flight. There's a small mini fridge in the room that was...

I love coming here as it is everything I need from a B&B. Great location, clean comfortable bed, tea and coffee making equipment, Fridge, air con and heating, wet room bathroom, Its a real home from home type of house, some reviewers call it basic, well I ask you, what more could you need? The breakfast is a continental breakfast...

This tiny, two room B&B is a pretty easy walk from the train station and is very excellently located in the Red Light District. We were in the white room, which is more of a dingy off-white really. It had a look of being just slightly worn. The bath room was tiny. As others have noted, the stairs are narrow...

This is a really lovely little B&B, and very affordable and perfect for couples and young people who want a good, central location. It is bang in the middle of the red light district, with lots of restaurants, bars and coffee shops around you. We had the White Room and were not particularly affected by the noise. The breakfast was...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
