I stayed in a budget room with a friend, and we found the practical layout: two separate beds back to back with a wardrobe in the middle, offering some privacy. Although the room is a bit old, it was well soundproofed, which ensured a quiet stay. The housekeeping was well done, and the hotel is close to several convenience stores, which is very convenient. However, the location is a little far from the city center, which can be a drawback if you want to be close to the main attractions.

We stayed at this hotel three nights (four couples): I state that Amsterdam is a very expensive city and therefore my score is relative The hotel is in fact in a suburban residential area, inhabited mainly by Turks, given the signs of the shops (and in some places do not serve alcohol) but not degraded indeed cared for and with a lot of greenery The center is easily accessible by a bus that passes by the hotel is that it has a good frequency: it takes 15-20 min The room assigned to us was large enough with a large and comfortable bed, comfortable bathroom although no bidet (but this abroad is the norm), quiet with pleasant views of a canal, good breakfast with a good assortment of sweet and savory High price but still acceptable given the robbery prices of the most central hotels

We stayed at the hotel in Slottermeelan for 3 nights. Our first impression was not great. The hotel is drop dead ugly and quit unkempt outside with people sitting around on the steps and the front door locked. Once you get inside things feel somewhat better and the staff are really lovely and helpful. The rooms are a little tired and the small pillows are weird but provide everything one would need. Coffee is left but there is no food at the hotel and is is a no alcohol place which I presumed was due to it being in the Turkish quarter. The area is not the best with little to do and you would not go back to the hotel and then go out for dinner nearby as there isn't a viable option if you want a vino with your meal. A short walk from trams into Amsterdam centre and the nearby bus is very easy for getting to the airport and much cheaper than a taxi. Overall impression is OK due more to the lovely staff than anything else.

I have to say that the front desk staff, and Michael in the breakfast room, were great. But the hotel itself has lots of other deficiencies. The location, in a heavily Muslim area, means good luck finding a restaurant that serves alcohol. This location is a considerable distance from the city centrum. Public transportation is readily available, but it's a 30 - 45 minute trek. Housekeeping was very inconsistent. On 4 separate occasions they just left wet towels on the floor of the shower, which meant they didn't clean the shower floor. On a couple of occasions, I requested they service my room, while i was out in the early afternoon, only to return to find it had not been done. The person at the front desk laughed and said, "they do what they want." Hilarious! I rely on the complimentary shampoo, body wash, etc, which you might or might not receive each day. And OMG, the lighting in the bathroom and bedroom was awful. How anyone can shave or put on makeup with one light on the ceiling is beyond me. And, you either had the choice of one very bright light in the bedroom or two small bedside lamps that timed out constantly. Also, some of the hotel's policies are just plain greedy and draconian. Charging 20 Euro per hour for early check-in before 3 PM at a hotel that has lots of international guest arriving at Schiphol inb the morning? Pure greed. I could understand before 10 AM, but after that the room should be offered without charge. The rooms are obviously available, since they're more than willing to sell you early arrival. Oh, and no visitors to your room. In all my years of traveling, I have NEVER run into a restriction like that and cannot fathom its justification.
It was an awful experience, but not a hotel I'd book again or recommend to anyone else!

We had a large room with big windows. We stayed for five nights. Unfortunately, the cleanliness was poor. It was said that daily cleaning is done, but the bathroom in our room was not cleaned for several days until we requested it ourselves. When we checked in, we were told that the coffee maker in the room was broken and if we wanted hot water, we should go to the reception ourselves. The bathroom system was not checked before handing the room to us, and on the first night, we couldn't take a shower because the water wouldn't go down and the drain was broken. The sink siphon was leaking. Additionally, the location is not close to the city center, but it is near to tram and bus stations. I do not recommend this.

From 5 to 11 September 2024 Xo Blue Square. On our arrival, Thursday, the room was tidy, cleanliness seemed acceptable. Friday no one entered the room to do the cleaning, everything was as we had left, I informed the reception. Saturday morning I asked for the cleaning, they assured me that they would do it. On Saturday evening when we returned we noticed that only the beds were made but the floor, the bathroom, the baskets were emptied and three small towels were missing, I informed the reception again. Sunday morning I request cleaning again but in the evening nothing had been done, just roughly pulled up the sheets (it seemed like a joke). So I informed the receptionist and escorted him to our room. He took pictures of the dirty floor, of the uncleaned bathroom, and I delivered into his hands a grape that was under my bed, a button that was under another bed, and some hair. From the next day finally the cleaning was done, even cleaning , they found a water bottle, which they left on the table, but it was not ours. However, the room was not completely clean, there was dust on the shelf of the coffee machine, above the glasses, on the headboard of the bed and in many corners, also the walls had many old stains. The public toilets in the first floor corridor were not cleaned all week, in the vespasian there was urine and paper. Breakfast was enough for savory foods but poor for sweet foods. Upon our return they wrote us an email to warn us that we had forgotten a pair of shorts and a key, but they were not ours, maybe they were from the family that stayed there a week before us.... that they are the same owners of the water bottle?

Me and my friend booked this hotel as there were good reviews, which is very important to us as we came from Norway to stay there for 6 days. It was also our first time in Amsterdam and were not familiar with the location. We were first checked into a wrong room than the one we had booked, and were told that we could move the next morning to another one. After we were moved to a bigger room, they told us we had to pay 50 euros due to the "cleaning from the other room", which we expect to be included in the price we already paid for our stay. Never experienced this before. Some staff don't smile, don't say hello, and looked strange at us when we walked through the reception. The next days our new room was not cleaned at all, one day they only came to make the bed, the next day they only came with new towels on the door. One day the cleaning lady also rushed in without knocking while we were in bed, which we thought was very unprofessional. We did not feel comfortable or safe at all staying here. We will not be going back here. Location is also pretty far from the centrum

What a wonderful place Amsterdam is and the complete opposite can be said for this hotel. We had starting travelling at 1am, spent most of the day in the city and were looking forward to just getting to bed.
Upon arrival (7pm) the receptionist let us know that there was an issue with receiving bedding so our room was ready but the bed was unmade. We had to go down twice to request for it to be made, which was finally done at 9.30pm. The extra 'housekeeping' to hurry getting the rooms ready after the late bedding order consisted of one man sweating profusely to try and change the bedsheets of every room in the hotel.
On top of this, the bedding we did get had multiple red (blood?) stains on it. We gave up hope of getting fresh bedding that night, but requested it to be changed when the room was cleaned in the morning. The room was not cleaned and the sheets were not changed. When we returned in the evening and requested new sheets (again) the receptionist was unable to provide us with any.
We were both at a point were if XO had even given us fresh, unstained sheets to put on the bed we would have happily made them ourselves.
The staff were polite and apologetic and offered breakfast for one of the mornings of our 3 night stay, but the cleanliness and upkeep of the room were not up to the standard we paid for, with multiple stains, dust, fingerprints from previous guests, uncleaned sides, Silverfish bugs in the bathroom.

Travelled to Amsterdam on the Eurostar to visit the Keukenhof Gardens end of April, stayed at this hotel on B&B basis. Come out of Central station and take the No 13 tram. Buy the 3 day pass from the station or on the tram, better value than daily tickets. About a 30 minute ride, sit back and relax, enjoy the sights of the city and the different culture around. Nothing wrong with this, it’s the way of the world today. Get off at Stop Slotermeerlaan, turn right, short walk to the top of the road, turn left about 150m, hotel on opposite side of road, blue & square like it’s name 🙂. Reception very friendly and super helpful. Room on 2nd floor, toiletries and hair dryer supplied, shower lovely, comfortable beds. Coffee/tea maker supplied along with complimentary tea, coffee, sugar sachets and tiny milk pots. Fantastic. Poster on wall stating water is pure and clean and can be drunk straight from the tap. Took advantage of this filling our bottles. Breakfast was lovely, hot & cold food, good selection, tea, coffee, juices. Staff all round from Reception, Dining hall, Cleaning, friendly and courteous. Loads of eating places and a few supermarkets around as well as a shopping centre. A great stay, would highly recommend.

Really nice hotel. We had an end room which was spacious and a big bathroom, slight noise as on main road but wasn’t loud enough to affect sleep etc. One of those things! Hotel is clean and smells lovely. Room was clean and bed was comfy. Nespresso machine and tv in room. Breakfast was nice, good selection and fresh. Great location, shops/restaurants all around. Tram is a 3 min walk away, no 13 goes straight to Central station in less than 20 mins. Couldn’t fault anything about my stay and I’d return if going back to Amsterdam. Thanks for an enjoyable time!
