We pretty much agree with most previous reviews: small rooms and maybe slightly worn in places, but really this is good value by the expensive standards of Amsterdam. As a party of art lovers with limited mobility and stamina, the location within spitting distance of the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum was ideal! The Rijksmuseum garden is a nice place... More

Not a bad price. Room not overly big but clean and nicely decorated. Bed comfortable. Staff very welcoming even to a group of guys which is not always the case everywhere. All in all a good moderately priced option if you want to explore the city. Square with plenty of dining options nearby.

We stayed for two nights at this hotel, and thought it was a great location for the museums and Dam Square. The reception staff were really helpful, and let us check in early on the day we arrived, which we thought was lovely. The room, though we expected small, was tiny. So tiny that you almost fall on the bed... More

Been there for 4 nights. The staff was friendly and helpful, the breakfast was excellent for our taste (a few types of bread, croissants, jams, butter, a few types of better-than-average meat products, boiled eggs, milk, yoghurt, musli and so on), the coffee was quite good (even though it came from a machine, it was freshly grinded). The rooms are... More

This hotel is by far my favorite yet that i have stayed in in Amsterdam. I have stayed here 3 times and each time have been greeted by lovely, friendly staff and a well decorated, clean room. The lobby on the first floor is lovely and includes a vending machine and nice little smoking area. The hotel has free Wifi... More

This is the Netherlands. Small but efficient and everything you need. If you are from a country with lots of space it will feel a bit claustrophobic. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. They even send us an mail before the time to inform us about the traffic on KIngs day. They recommend a less busy route. Very... More

Stayed there for 1 night, the room was extremely small, we hit our heads several times as the roof made our room even smaller.. We couldn't even take a shower normally, had to sit in a bath.. The hotel itself was clean, the bed was comfy. They have like 5 internet options and sometimes none of them worked. We paid... More

The hotel was clean and the staff friendly. The room was very small and we found it very awkward as the bed was against the wall meaning the need for one to climb over the other to get to the bathroom. There was very little storage and it is not suitable for the longer stays. We were there six nights.... More

We were lucky enough to have found a hotel for the small price of euro 220 at a nearby hotel which was overbooked, therefore the hotel provided us an alternative the Cornelisz hotel. The room was Eur 370,- (difference covered by the other hotel). as it was located on the pc hoofdstraat my expectations were high, staying in the street... More

My boyfriend and I stayed here recently for a weekend and as there are various reviews of different sorts I thought I would give my honest opinion. The location is right in the museum district, a short walk will also get you to the Hard Rock Café. The location is on direct tram routes and the bus (197) stops up... More

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
