This hostel was fine for somewhere to lay my head, although the lack of bar/social area made it difficult to meet and interact with fellow travellers. The rooms were very small and in 3 nights I don't think the bathroom was cleaned at all. There are quite a lot of narrow stairs and no elevator, so don't stay here if...

Every other thing is chargeable. The place is okay and overall an okayish stay. Don't expect too much from the staff. Rooms can be more cleaner. The awesomeness of Amsterdam somewhat nullified the bad atmosphere of the hotel though.

Terrified of my stay at one of the budget hostels, I booked this place for my 2nd day stay at Amsterdam. The location is better and at proximity to important places. Not very pleased though with the comfort of the beds.Maintenance and stuff could be better.

I would not recommend staying here. We came with a large group and were scattered among several rooms. Ours had unfinished walls, cracked tile, a sheet hanging up, screws by someones pillow, and sharp bars directly above another persons head. The manager was extremely rude to me and my friend. We arrived later, and began searching for a bed to...

This hostel was TERRIBLE. Beds were crammed into the rooms to where the doorways were half blocked off. There were no mirrors in the bathroom. I found screws under my pillow. The floorboard by the staircase bent down and would almost break to the floor below if you stepped on it. A cat wandered into the room from outside (it...

Isn't a fantastic hostel, wouldn't recommend it. Weird smell in the bathroom and the toilet didn't flush properly. There was one socket for the whole dorm, wires and sockets hanging out the wall, radiator wasn't properly attached to the wall. Rooms where really stuffy and you couldn't turn down the radiator. Stairs are narrow and awkward. There wasn't any information...

Enough facilities to sleep and to cook, wifi available. The staff are very good. The room with 24 beds is sometimes noisy and sometimed humide but generally fine to just sleep. Centre reachable by tram or 15 minuted walking. Strictly the minimum.

This was the worst stay ever in Amsterdam and i've been in a few hostels there. Most unfriendly manager i met with zero respect for the costumer. We booked this hostel as a budget 'place to lay our heads' whilst in Amsterdam. As a result of the cheap prices I was not expecting much....however I got so much less than expected. Upon arriving we were greeted by a lovely woman, who seemed very professional and chatty. She told us that our room wasn't ready and we should...

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighborhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
