I stayed 2 nights at the D'orangerie Hotel in Maastricht last weekend and here are my comments:

Pros:
A) Coffee/tea facilities available (but no teaspoon provided)
B) safe
C) Hair dryer
D) Good location - Just 2 to 3 mins walk to the centre/shops
E) Minibar
F) Bus stop a stone's throw away (but you don't need the bus I guess)
G) Friendly front-office staff
H) Charming small hotel

Cons:
A) Room can be a little stuffy in the summer despite the temperature around 22 degrees during the day.
B) Room facing small street can be noisy as it's facing a coffee-shop. People tend to hang out there till the early morning. Ask for a room facing the courtyard.
C) Bed a little soft
D) Room a little to the small side (we had the double bedroom)

Stayed in the hotel for 8 days, while attending a course in Maastricht University. Nice location with easy access to public transport. Short walk to Markt square & near to lot of nice restaurants. The hotel serves nice breakfast, but no lunch or dinner is served. Rooms are celan & nice. Service is good. Front desk is very helpful. Nothing less & nothing more. Overall, a pleasant experience.

My husband and I stayed 4 nights in this privately owned small hotel. The central location, historic character, friendly and helpful staff and reasonable price made for a very enjoyable stay. The negative is our room was on the top floor or third and luggage had to be carried up three flights of stairs. The room was average size for Europe with a sloping roof and windows that slanted downwards. The advantage of this was a cool breeze at night and a view of the stars while in bed. The bathroom was all marble tile and spacious. There was no kettle in our room as our room was standard but I brought my own and a stash of tea. However, there are many cafes in town. The hotel breakfast was an average price at 12 euros. The buffet style was served in a very romantic dining area with lighted candles. The selection was good with hot and cold choices. I had a great evening meal there as well. Pub adjacent to the entrance is smoky at times but the staff go out of their way to serve. I recommend a visit to Maastricht and the surrounding area and this hotel is a great budget choice to stay in the historic town center.

We had a sharp screw sticking through the back of the kitchen unit into the bed area near the pillow. We had to cover it with two rolled up towels to prevent injuries to hands or face. The kettle was missing the on/off button and we messaged them to replace it, but nothing happened,

An old hotel partly renovated in short-rental studios. Awful management, low quality renovation, sticky dirty floor, dusty rooms. The management is worse than you can imagine and so is their staff. When we arrived, there was a vase of brown dirty stinky water on the table, and the cleaning staff told me that I should pour it in the toilet and clean it myself. The wall shelf was broken.

A fantastic location. Right in the center. A few minutes walking and you are in the square full of restaurants, bars, outdoor seating. On the other side a minute away is the river.

The hotel is well-locatd in the city and close to most things - the river, museums, restaurants etc. The room was fine, but nothing special. The staff were quite rude and not at all helpful. For the price there are doubtless better places to stay in this very nice small city.

I booked this place today. It said "apartment". Once I booked, I see it says "hotel". I called the number and the answering machine says "this number is not in service". Called another number and the answering machine said that they "prioritize other customers" and hang up. I searched online and reviewers claim it was dirty and smelly.

I found the price for the tiny and not really beautiful room much too high!! The house itself is beautiful with its gorgeous staircase and reception area and breakfast was very good with a number of healthy things. However, the marvellous dining room is under repair which I have very much regretted! That was one of the reasons I had booked my stay there, but they served breakfast in another room which is by faaar not that beautiful.

Staff was friendly but as always in NL they lack a bit of hospitality and warmth.

The garden and terrace desperately need to be cleaned up as well as some TLC!!!

My parents came over to Maastricht for one weekend and we booked a superior room in the Hotel d'Orangerie. However, upon arrival we didn't get the room that we originally booked but were dumped in a dark trash can. Barely no light, uncomfortable beds and mould (!!) in the bathroom. The online pictures do not do the whole hotel justice at all!! It's dark and has seen its best times a long while ago.
The bar was very poorly equipped and the soft drinks were old with no gas. But the worst part is the manager. Trying to reason and find an agreement was impossible with her and when I tried to talk with her in the week after my parents left, she kicked me out of the hotel.

Overall, a very very poor experience. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. There are so many good hotels around that are, by the way, also much cheaper.
