We booked an 8 pers children's cottage. Due to the local storm, we were apprehensive about actually enjoying our stay. We were in a pleasant surprise. There were many ways to be indoors and have fun. The indoor heated pool, though it could be bigger, was a lot of fun. There is a sauna and a jacuzzi too. The slide, though for older children, is worth a visit. We enjoyed the sessions at the bowling alley and the pool tables. Children also loved using the indoor play area and table tennis. The property boasts of many other attractions, but due to the poor weather, we could explore all of them. The Kinderboerderij is not as advertised, but it was interesting to the children.
The cottage was really well maintained, spacious and well provided for with respect to the kitchen and bedrooms. I wish it was better stocked in the bathroom and toilet area. Luckily, after reading some reviews, we had taken additional toilet rolls.
All -in-all we loved out stay.

On arrival the cottage smelt awful of sewage and greasy food. The following day the sewage smell was fixed- the cleaners had left the shower drains open so the smell was coming up. The oven smelt of food cooked by previous occupants. The cottage was really hot and there were no fans or air con. There was only one pillow each, beds were made up on arrival. Each cottage is next to water but you can’t necessarily go in the water but there are places to do this on the site. The activities on the site are cheaper than in the UK. The archery was great fun. The steam room and baths were broken all week. The supermarket is well stocked and okay for prices. The restaurants are very expensive. This is a great site for younger children. It is not as well maintened or as lovely as UK center parcs. All staff were helpful. Would not return to this site.

Thank you for sharing your feedback about your recent stay. We’re sorry to hear that your arrival did not meet your expectations. We regret the inconvenience caused by the unpleasant smell in the cottage and the issues with ventilation and maintenance. We appreciate your comments about the odor and the condition of the oven, and we will pass these concerns along to our maintenance team for improvement. It’s good to know that the smell issue was resolved and that you enjoyed activities like archery and found the supermarket well-stocked. We apologize for the steam room and baths being out of order during your stay. We understand this must have been disappointing and will ensure this is addressed. While we are glad you appreciated the staff’s friendliness, we regret that the park did not fully meet your expectations. We take your feedback seriously and hope to provide a better experience in the future. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. The Center Parcs Team

Firstly, to add some background, this was my first trip abroad for around 15 years and my kids' (2 and 8) first ever trip abroad. Also my first experience of driving in a country other than the UK.
Therefore, after much research and reading of reviews, as well as considering where I would be comfortable driving, Center Parcs Sandur was selected.
We crossed by ferry to the Hook of Holland and both journeys to and from Parc Sandur across much of the Netherlands were trouble free and within 3 hours while incorporating a short break for refreshments.
Check in was ok, though don't make the mistake of going to reception as they actually have your key cards and info at a less obvious building prior to the main car parking area.
We stayed in a 4 person premium lodge (312). All things considered, I would say it was pretty much what we anticipated. Nothing particularly premium about it - parts have probably seen a refurb at some point (Kitchen/possibly a bathroom) but the general décor was a little bit 1990s with a kind artex textured ceiling and wallpaper.
The sofas are not very comfortable, the beds were generally fine, the outside garden furniture was not used once (despite the 30 degrees heatwave) as the local geese leave poo absolutely everywhere and we did not fancy spending time in the garden area by the waterside.
If I'm making it sound bad, it really wasn't, more a case of considering a few of the cons.
I kind of wish we'd picked a kids cottage as these are not waterside, have enclosed gardens, as well as toys (and a washing machine apparently).
However, the lodge we had was perfectly fit for purpose, offered decent space and became our little home from home for the week.
The park itself was clean and attractive. It is what it is - you can compare it with other center parcs which have amazing water parks (for example) while this one does not. We were more interested in using it as a base to explore the local area. We did not book any activities but we did use a few of the facilities such as the pool, the play areas, the rather impressive petting farm as well as the on site supermarket. We did not eat in the restaurants though we had some freshly cooked fast food from the takeaway diner.
Other things worth noting - they were happy for you to park your car next to your lodge.
WiFi - the info on their website seems out of date - there does not seem to be a streaming WiFi option which you pay for. However, the complimentary WiFi was easy to connect to and generally pretty quick and fine for streaming sites such as You Tube. One evening it was a bit slow and I gave up in the end, but generally it was fine.
Communication - I didn't see any other English people during our stay - most cars on site seemed Dutch or German registered. The menus were all in Dutch which is possibly why we did not explore the restaurants and the kids' entertainment obviously in the native language. However, the lodge info was provided in various languages and the reception staff I met all seemed capable of conversing in English.
As for the local area - Wildlands zoo in Emmen is fantastic, in my opinion (I will get round to reviewing it).
Emmen town itself has a variety of shops and was pleasant enough and easy to access. We also went shopping in a little village called Erica, 5 minutes drive from the park which had a decent Coop supermarket.
We also ventured over the border into Germany - one of the nearest towns of note is Meppen, which is an attractive town with a decent selection of shops.
Overall, I may try a different Europe Center Parcs in the future, though I absolutely would consider this one again.

We came 5 persons to have a good time but It was definitely a bad experience. The house cleaning was BAD, there were dogs hairs everywhere (seems like they didn’t vacuumed at all), the dishes in the cabinet were dirty with old food, we found a ball of hair in one of the bed sheets and there were spiderwebs everywhere. We also did a reservation for catering at home, so they brought a pan to cook everything which it was UNWASHED, the fondue that came with the catering was a bad quality cheese that didn’t melt properly and it was just swimming in its own oil… The place had so much potential, but everything else was disastrous. Not recommended

Last year went to Center Parcs for the first time, in Winterberg. On arrival, the house was more of a ruin than the luxury that we have always been used to from Landal. Now they were renovating the rest of the park, but don't rent out those sheds. Complained and fair is fair, neatly resolved by Center Parcs, received a nice voucher. Well, we regretted using that voucher.

Upon arrival at the park, Parc Sandur, we noticed that it was a beautiful green park. The positive experience immediately ended there. When signing up, it said that you had to stay in the car, because of the corona virus. But non-compliance with those rules was encouraged by the staff as those who got out of the car were helped and if you stayed in the car you could wait a long time.

Got the key and on to the house. At first sight a nice house, but when the door was opened, the holiday feeling was immediately gone. A too rancid smell of wet dog. Unfortunately, it didn't stop there. Crumbs on the sofa, broken child chair, dog hairs here and there, pincers (bugs) in cups, cobwebs in the corners, windows were too filthy to see through, sandbox - pardon mud bin for the kids, half of the toys were broken. And then claim that the park is responsible and hygienic because of the corona virus. We have also complained to the authorities and hope Center Parcs will adjust their policies soon. For us it is in any case the last time we have been to Center Parcs, even if I get a voucher of € 5000 (unless it is for a Landal or Roompot park).

This is not a centerparcs. Cars are whizzing round all day long. VERY dangerous for small children. Pool is tiny and there are swimming lessons every day for a couple of hours which effectively half the pool. Then there are huge groups of parents standing at the pool entrance blocking showers when the lessons end! Another day when we were there two coach loads of teens came and over took the pool. They were so rough it ruined the pool for other families. No one at centerparcs was bothered. I would be surprised if this parc is still going by next year.

Great place to reconnect with family. We had 2 cabins next to eachother and had the full benefit of the amazing ambience. Nice to wake up to the beautiful water and mostly everything worked very well. Price level in super market surprisingly reasonable. In Denmark, it would have been a regular tourist trap, but here it was good and left no reason to drive out for shopping groceries. Wifi coverage could be better.

We've been here two years running now, with our 8 and 5 year old.

It has all the amenities you'd expect from a Center Parcs resort - with the added bonus that the dutch schools have different holidays to the UK. We have been twice in the Easter holidays and found it was much quieter and more relaxed than the UK experience. The general feel was less commercial too.

For the price of a Premium/VIP cottage, ferry crossing and bike hire, it was comparable to the most basic cottage in Nottingham for the same week.

Things we did and loved for free:
Swimming (including water slide & various jets/fountains)
Play parks
Zip wire
Air trampoline
Indoor soft play area
Face painting (at the kids club)
Biking around (we hired the bikes there - lovely steel framed ones that glide along. Our son learnt how to ride without stabilisers in our first trip there - plenty of flat ground)

Things we paid extra for:
Badminton
Bowling

There were other things we noticed but didn't take part in, including climbing wall, archery, paintball, gym and other kids club activities.

We sampled the buffet restaurant once each time we went, and were really impressed by the quality and variety of food - not just your usual chips, pizza, pasta, generic holiday buffet food. Lots of local tastes, large variety of salads, soups, bread, cheeses, as well as the obligatory hot dogs, nuggets & chips for the kids. The supermarket also had great food at very reasonable prices. (In fact the first time we were there we found there was not much difference in price with the local Lidl)

The VIP and Premium cottages are a real treat. Lovely modern, light, spacious and airy. Well stocked kitchen, including coffee machine & electric juicer (which we used a lot!)

The VIP cottage has a luxury bathroom with steam shower, jacuzzi bath and sauna. The Premium cottage has separate bathroom, shower room, and sauna room with a couple of loungers to relax in. Ideal for relaxing in the evening when the kids are asleep.

The travel was fine. We took the overnight ferry across, which was an adventure in itself and the resort was about 2.5hr drive from the Hook of Holland.

What we liked the least was lunch in the cafe by the soft play area. The food was ok but not great - greasy and a bit overpriced. We made the mistake of not specifying tap water & ended up spending 10 euros on 4 tiny bottles of mineral water.

All in all it's one of our favourite places for a relaxing family holiday and we look forward to next time.

I loved the premier class house we got. I said to my wife that this could house a family with two children. We even had our own dish washer and private sauna. Two tvs, dvd player full kitchen with coffee maker and dolce gusto.
And all that on water front ...brilliant.
The place is not as big as another park we visited...I was missing the type of restaurant where you pay entrance and you eat what you want and as much as you want.
I loved the pizza dough in the pizza restaurant. Plus super market was great, felt like being home...
In the brochure it says that in the a la carte restaurant you can eat pizza, but that was not the case. They could improve in flexibility in that sense...same company same waiters....
There were the typical things for a 9 year old kid to be busy with.

Having previously stayed at Landal properties in the NL this CP was closer to my destination so we opted for a closer commute. Unfortunately the place was expensive for what we got.

The best part about the place was the little play areas with equipment for younger kids, the little farmyard bit and the soft play (although that did look pretty dirty and had a really bad smell about it!)

The less good stuff is more to do with not feeling like we got value for money.... It’s basically a run down place which needs far better management to make it worth the money you have to spend. Almost everything has a surcharge (including mini golf) and the swimming pool is out of action 4-7pm everyday which wasn’t very convenient.

The staff were on the whole were great. Although lifeguards were overly officious, not allowing you to supervise your own children in the water unless they were wearing a floatation aid. Not much fun for a little lad who is learning to swim and likes to jump in to you and go under.

Our house was not properly cleaned. There were belongings from the previous guest and the coffee machine was switched off but had clearly not been checked as the filter was still in too.

Dirty finger marks from the previous guests kids smearing food had not been cleaned off furniture and there was grime and cobwebs in every corner. Clearly that’s not part of a cleaners job because that dirt was months old not just a week or so.

Inside the houses the staircases are very steep so it’s worth checking if you need a different type of property as older people who don’t normally need a ground floor room might struggle.

The WiFi rarely worked and the maintenance team would drive round in their vans and leave them running outside the property they were in even if they were working inside for 10 minutes or longer, the engine stayed on. We switched one off outside our house. One morning these vans were hooting horns at 7am and at weekends there’s way more noise from other guests and parties than the place claims to allow.

The restaurant was expensive even without the poor £ to € exchange rate but there’s nothing walking distance so if you fancy a night off cooking save up!

I wouldn’t recommend staying here unless you can get a decent discount. I think the place needs to seriously review their management, in particular the cleaning of the houses and the cost of staying their when you have to fork out more once you arrive.
