We left Lewes on a busy Saturday afternoon, intending to stop at a quiet country pub or restaurant. We saw this place and stopped and were so glad we did. The food was top notch. The burger was home-made, well-seasoned and tasty. The whole plaice came on buttery potatoes. Great coffee. We didn't have a starter or dessert. The service...

My wife and I had a great 2 night stay here. The owners obviously care about their guests unlike some places we have stayed in. Great friendly welcoming hosts, great food, comfortable bed and spotless room, what else is there to wish for ? We will be back for sure !

Having lived in the area for years I had driven past the Blacksmiths Arms a lot and finally decided to give it a go for dinner. The car park at the rear is slightly tight given there was a large van in it but would probably park about 10 cars. This was a Thursday night and we were booked for...

Dear M05croyDON, Many thanks for your review, we were expecting it. In fact I won a small wager so again, thanks. I was going to answer every point in your review as there are quite a few inconsistencies- like leaving a tip for Jack and then writing this???. But hey I have many other things to do to enhance my...

We needed a nights accommodation in or near Lewes, a search on the net came up with a few but for some reason The Blacksmiths Arms stood out. I booked a room along with dinner. The room was very nice, great bed and very clean. Dinner was very good although I have to admit that we had eaten a large...

I took my 92 year old Dad here after seeing good reviews. It was over ambitious because of his mobility issues but the staff (owners?) could not have been more helpful and kind, assisting me with getting Dad in and out. Our lunch was beautifully cooked and I especially enjoyed the saffron and pea risotto. I'll be back but not...

We had a super evening at The Blacksmiths Arms. We were in the area for one evening and it was recommended by a friend. The decor was delightful, fresh flowers everywhere, the service was excellent, all the staff were polite and friendly and the food was delicious, beautifully presented. If we are in the area again we will definitely return.

First time visiting - and really loved everything about the evening! Not a usual trip advisor reviewer but the welcome was so warm and the wine advice was expert but not given until requested. Food excellent- great presentation and cooked to order. Steak amazing and home made sorbet selection very special. Squid also great. Dog friendly in practice- water and...

A warm welcome into a stylish and well appointed dining room, which was unexpected after having driven past on countless occasions. Recently taken over and presumably revamped, the experience as an 'off chance' location was great. The food was excellent, with smart presentation and perfectly cooked - Salmon roulade and salt and pepper squid for starters followed by Cod steak...
