Loved the breakfast on Sunday morning, best I ever had being on the road and sleeping over by different establishments. Well done to the host, breakfast made up for the hot water issue in my room.....

The front manager insisted on speaking Afrikaans to me after I told her that I spoke English and other official languages. Her words were “if you are a journalist you should know at least 3 South African languages”. And although I do know 3 or more , Afrikaans does not have to be one of them. She continued to engage my colleagues in Afrikaans and left me out of the conversation about rooms and dinner which reflects very poor services and customer care. It was my second stay there. I was very disappointed and will not be staying there again.

Not quite true - alarming that as a journalist, this is how you distort facts. You said you don't speak Afrikaans, only French. I did not take offence; I address quests in the language of their choice.

Well located, easy to find, safe parking, very nice cooked dinner. Comfortable bed = good sleep and all you need when not at home. I enjoyed the conversation at breakfast with the host on all their travels and the beautiful coffee table book.

Treatment/ service poor, Boarding school set-up. Not having a good way to talk to clients.Should the landlord lady continue like that, they'll definately lose clients. She's not a business person, not friendly at all. The Oupa is friendly & knows how to interact with clients. Clients should be served, if you can't serve them don't turn it to be their problem. Hire staff to do that on your behalf. Understand your clients schedule as a guesthouse, you're not a hotel even hotels engage with clients & try to meet each other half way. Customer relations is really needed there.

Oh, how terribly disappointed I am in this vindictive review - I am flabergasted, since there was never opportunity for us to talk and I sent all notifications via text message. Could it perhaps be because you smoked in the room and I reminded you of the Valet fine and to please not smoke, or is it because you asked me to serve you your food in your room, which is not part of the service we offer? We also do not have the staff to do that - you do recall that we are still in lockdown and have sceleton staff. Apart from that, we are not a hotel and do not offer room service. You also reported me to your agents after you smoked in the room, accusing me of being rude and that you wanted to check out, a request they declined after clearing the issues with me. Instead of being insulting, maybe take the time, sit back and reconsider what you are accusing me of. We had a friendly chat in the mornings and I went to great lengths serving your a great meal every day - for twelve nights you never had the same meal. And your collegue, when I asked him about the food, said 10/10. Oh well, some you win others you lose and I am sorry we have lost you as guests.

This is 1 of those places where you have to remind yourself that you are not at your own house. Peace and tranquility reigns supreme here. The herb garden, the layout of the place coupled with the friendliness of the elderly couple whose place it is and the staff, makes this place count among the best guesthouses I've visited thus far. The quality of the food served here is superb. I'll go back there anytime. If you intend staying over in Bethlehem, Free State this is the place to be. It is situated right across the road from the shopping mall and a mere 3.4km from the parkrun if you're into running the 5km race once a week. Great place to stay.

Haha, when you mentioned "Parkrun" I immediately realized who you are - you're the guy that overslept and did not make it to the Parkrun in time! But it is good to know that you rested well - that is important. You have been a lovely guest and we sure hope to have you back. And thank you for your kind words. Take care.
