Michel Reybier is pleased to announce the opening this winter of La Réserve Eden au Lac Zurich. This unique, elegant and indeed legendary model is thus reborn after several months of an ambitious project, impelled by the creativity of Philippe Starck and the vision nurtured by La Réserve. The 40 rooms and suites, the restaurants and the bar: everything has been redesigned to offer guests a refined and timeless experience reflecting the La Réserve values of excellence, authenticity and simplicity. La Réserve Eden au Lac Zurich is an imaginary yacht club that is both timeless and contemporary. Certain materials such as varnished mahogany are reminiscent of boats and the world of sailing, as are the regatta photos lining the corridors. "La Réserve Eden au lac Zurich is a timeless cocktail of classic, modern, intelligent and creative elements." Philippe Starck

The hotel has definitely been upscaled with the renovation. The location is perhaps the best part of this property with its wonderful views over the lake. The rooms are comfortable but not without issues. For example, the sink in the WC is a postage stamp and there is nowhere to hang a hand towel. If you get a room near the DJs (lobby or roof ones) good luck trying to sleep! And there is an unevenness with the service. The servers on the roof run around in a very disorganized way and forget what you ordered. But the views are truly a treat. Overall, the excessive number of interns relative to seasoned hotel staff is a problem for a 5 star property. Being constantly told "let me get back to you" regarding basic information that should be common knowledge for all personnel, is not a good sign. On the other hand, there is much to commend. The burger in the lobby level restaurant is fantastic and the elephant art in your morning cappuccino is a lovely touch. The hotel also did a great job with Covid-19 precautions providing a box of masks and hand sanitizer in the room. In time, no doubt, the teething problems of a newly-opened property will be ironed out.

i have to be honest and say i miss the old eden au lac even though there were problems "then" for building was getting old and needed real renovation , my stay was pleasant and have to say staff "most" very helpful and polite , however there is not much of an "atmosphere" anymore ..more like.. robot like which is what one notices in most hotels and not what i was expecting at the new eden au lac , also when i arrived it seems they mixed up my reservation with someone else's and also gave me wrong type of room but finally were able to fix issue , next morning during breakfast it took forever to have breakfast and staff were cut and dry also noticed arguments in kitchen , finally when i asked for a taxi for the airport i got a black mercedes limo instead but anyhow took it and , as expected , driver started asking "personal questions" which i found annoying and unacceptable , when we ask for a taxi ( and for good reasons ) we mean a taxi ..and not one of those drivers , anyhow even though i miss the old eden au lac ( and the old ambassador hotel ) overall it was a pleasant stay , thank You ~

Long story short, the best hotel in Zürich. By far. Only problem you'll have, once you experience La Réserve brand, your expectations will increase dramatically. A tip with regards to the restaurants, La Mouna is obviously the place to be, especially in summer, but the new card in The Kitchen is exquisite. Well done guys !

Eden au Lac was fully rejuvenated to join the Michel Reybier constellation of Swiss luxury urban resorts. As expected, all staff members are genuinely nice, courteous and really helpful which seems to be the signature of this privately owned small chain. Rooms are relatively small but very comfortable with oversized bathrooms. The rooftop bar and restaurant is worth the trip with presumably the best view in this area. Rooms on the first floor have an extensive terrace but the noise of the lakeside road is slightly invasive. A nice retreat, a few blocks from the Bellevue public transportation hub.
