What can I say? Although owned by the same group and both hotels rated 5 stars, the Lausanne Palace doesn't come near the Beau-Rivage Palace in Lausanne-Ouchy. On arrival we upgraded to a suite since the booked double room didn't have a balcony nor a walk-in shower. The room was nice and on the 5th floor with a view over the city and the Lake of Geneva. Both bath rooms were rather dark ( I decided to shave the next day at another hotel in another town) and the interior design didn't appeal to us at all. The room itself was fabulous. Still, something's missing in the overall picture, so next time, we will again stay at the Beau-Rivage Palace.

I often seat at the lobby bar but have decided to write a review after realizing that a service and food quality have indeed reached the alarming zone. Both food and service quality are becoming nothing different than at any average place in the city. The only differentiator between them and a place in Renens for instance is the price.

We used to come 2-3 times a year before COVID and had not come back since the COVID break out. Unfortunately, I was surprised by behavior of some members of the staff this time; that was very unusual. Specifically, service at the reception was not a 5-star service. What I like about this hotel is the size of the rooms. I always try to have a large enough room so we have space for the three of us. When I arrived, I unfortunately had to ask for a change of room. Guy at the reception was super unhappy about my request and ended up downgrading me, as they did not have the same type of rooms than the one I had booked in advance. Not even offering me an upgrade, because « it is with a surcharge ». So, the guy just judged me and assumed I would not pay more… again not what you expect in a 5-star hotel. Hotel manager tried to solve it, but it is a pity to see such a service… I would favor other 5 star hotel I guess from now on

Having stayed in different properties all around the world and in Switzerland my expectations were rather high for this classic five star property - that was regretfully far from excellent. The location of the hotel is convenient and the entrance decor show that it is a five star property. Also the front office staff were efficient and professional. The best part of the stay was the restaurant the Brasserie with outstanding food, wine end personal excellent staff. The room itself was very unoriginal and emotionless. The terrace was a shock; definitely not ready for guests with just one chair. The flower baskets just looked sad and were covered in bird droppings. The breakfast was not impressive; staff looked lost, some did not speak English and it took 20 minutes to get a cappuccino.

We shared an absolutely amazing experience at this stunning hotel. The staff and the service was extremely professional and the covid-19 measures were followed with extreme carefulness. On our arrival, we were - to our great surprise - upgraded to a room with full lake view. It was an act of kindness we did not expect, however appreciated therefore even more. The room itself was excellent - very clean and spacious; the staff and service was world class. The hotel's central location in Lausanne is simply an 'icing on a cake' as it make exploring the city extremely easy. Should you wish to go to the lake for a walk, the metro pass is being provided by the hotel and the staton is simply across the street. Don't hesitate for a moment to make your reservation as it will be the best spent money. You will indeed treasure every moment of your stay! That being said - we already look forward to our stay!
