Nestled in a prime central location, the Lausanne Palace is celebrated for its cleanliness, luxurious amenities, and exceptional service, with special commendation for its attentive staff. Its rooms are widely regarded as clean and comfortable, offering stunning views, though a few guests suggest they could benefit from modernization. While opinions on value vary, with some deeming it pricey, the hotel's charming atmosphere, complete with live music and tasteful decorations, consistently delights guests. However, some feel the breakfast service could be more efficient.

Hotel's Favorite
Extraordinary hotel—I don’t know where to start. I had arrived too early for check in, so the front desk staff suggested visiting the spa. Great idea! I was able book a massage on the spot and enjoyed a little snack in the Yogi Booster lounge. I had a lakeview room (#312) with a charming little balcony that was a lovely setting for breakfast. The well-lit, large room was quiet (thanks to insulated windows), with simple, elegant décor. The bed was comfortable, but the comforter was a bit too warm—so I requested a simple sheet and blanket, which was much better. The bathroom, too, was large, with good lighting, a shower, & tub. Everything was spotlessly clean and in good working order. Room service breakfast was more than generous and arrived consistently on time. As fabulous as the hotel’s facilities are, what made my stay extraordinary was the superb staff. The front desk, spa, restaurant, and housekeeping staffs were all highly professional and helpful in every way. A very special thanks to concierges Matthew, Christopher, Cindy, Felician (apologies for any misspellings) for all the advice they gave me in figuring out public transportation and in suggesting restaurants and interesting things to do around Lausanne. They made my stay in Lausanne even better than I had planned. I would come back to Lausanne, just for the opportunity to stay here again.

Bed was uncomfortable, didn’t tell us about the city travel pass for tourists… take metro or taxi to hotel from the railway station, we were not informed about this… Bar staff were very good, restaurant Le Table is excellent.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your experience. We are pleased to hear that you were satisfied with the team at Le Table bar and restaurant. We also appreciate the honest feedback about your stay. While we are disappointed to learn of the discomfort of our beds, we strive to offer a welcoming atmosphere, friendly service and comfort to all our guests, and we take all feedback seriously. It is also regrettable that we did not provide you with information about transport in the city on arrival; this is something we will look into further. We hope you will give us another chance, and and we would be happy to guarantee you an upgrade for your next stay. with our best regards Ulrike Kuechle Oguey public relation manager

From the moment we arrived at this magnificent hotel we were treated like old friends. The Reception, Concierge and Guest relations staff made a very favourable impression from the word go, and in fact this level of friendly professionalism continued throughout. Our room overlooking the lake and mountains was beautiful, and maintained in a sparkling condition by the cleaning lady, who did a brilliant job. The daily breakfast was very good, an extensive selection of quality food served by more friendly, professional and efficient staff. The omelettes in particular were delicious. There was an obvious emphasis on european fare, the croissants were the best I have ever tasted, but there were also a small selection of sausages, bacon plus delicious potato croquettes, even baked beans and mushrooms. The building itself is undeniably impressive, imposing even, and the decor is top class, but the ambiance is warm and friendly, homely even, certainly we felt completely at home. Even as we left, Wilson, one of the Concierge staff, left us with a big smile and a handshake, and told us he hoped we would return. It felt like the natural end to an extremely enjoyable stay.

Overall the hotel is very old. Need a refurbishment. Rooms are very old as well as corridor. Inside the room, the double bed was two singles bed… which is weird! Quality of a 3 star hotel Mini bar should be free when you pay 400€ a night.

This hotel has a marvelous facade, both literally and figuratively. The building's exterior has that yesteryear charm, the lobby is grand and impressive, and our initial impressions of the room were also positive, especially when we found out at check-in that we were getting upgraded to a suite. To recount the positives -- a marvelous city view, from the floor-to-ceiling windows and balcony at the top-floor suite. The room was very large, with a king sized bed, a separate seating area with a sofa and armchair, and desk, and the closets were very plentiful. The bathroom was also spacious. Various complimentary drinks, with a local flavor, in the mini fridge. Housekeeping kept the room in reasonably good order throughout the stay. However, in no way was this a 5-star experience. The room looked tired, dated, and uninspiring. The furniture was mismatched, and not in that "eclectic" sense, but just assembled semi-haphazardly. The only wall "decor" were two oversized TV screens -- one facing the bed, and another facing the seating area. There was no artwork, no floral arrangement (live or otherwise), no embellishment or special touch of any kind. A very cold and uninviting space in that regard (for a 5 star hotel, especially!) None of the furniture, wall coverings, or bedding held your gaze either. The bathroom decor and design were straight out of the 1980s, I guess, and might have been all the rage then but now they look, well, amusing. The footprint of the bathroom was equivalent to a small dance floor, but the shower cabin was small and creaky. At check-in we were advised that a complimentary tea service could be requested any time, which we did request immediately (we're big tea drinkers!). I guess it was too much to expect for clean cups and a couple of teabags to reappear automatically, on daily basis, because we had to call down for the tea on subsequent days. The tea itself was a very good brand. My biggest gripe with this hotel stay was the following -- a loud mechanical noise that seemed to originate directly behind the wall adjacent to the bed's headboard was almost nonstop, including through late and early hours. I sleep with earplugs, but even they were of little use because the sound waves vibrated through the wall and furniture. After a restless first night I brought this up at reception, first thing in the AM. I said that the sound resembled that of an elevator -- an observation that was dismissed before I even finished speaking, by the lady at reception. She said it was impossible for an elevator to be heard in our particular room. She suggested it might be the aircon system or something like it, and would have it looked into. I felt shushed, slightly embarrassed (we were upgraded to a suite across the hall from the ballyhooed Coco Chanel suite, after all), and, ultimately having experienced an episode of gaslighting. Why? Because when, on the last day of our stay, I opened the adjacent to our suite service-exit doors, I discovered not one but two service elevators! And, considering that the bathroom had no vent of any kind, and I did not see a thermostat either, I'm not convinced an airvac system even exists in the building. Not sure, but, in any case, how ridiculous not to acknowledge that it's the damn elevators being operated at late evening hours and very early in the AM that drove me batty! I don't begrudge hard-working service staff the elevators. I begrudge whoever thoughtlessly placed the headboard directly on the other side of the elevator shafts. To be fair, over 24 hours after my initial complaint, a letter was left in our room offering to be shown other rooms and moved elsewhere in the building, if another room suited. At that point, we were halfway into our stay at Lausanne "Palace", having fully unpacked, and the prospect of spending at least an hour or more looking at other rooms, packing up all our belongings, and then unpacking them again seemed wasteful, when we had other sightseeing plans. I think 24+ hours to address a serious noise complaint was not very timely, and the method of communication (via a "memorandum") not very efficient. To add insult to injury, even though we were several floors above street level, the noise from the street reaching the room was off the charts. On at least one night, there were frequent sirens, shouting, brawling, etc. Yes, I realize we were in city center, but, let's just say, if you plan on getting a good night's sleep here, maybe lower your expectations. By the way, I also asked at reception, on the same morning as my noise complaint, whether we had been given one of the un-renovated rooms. To which the reply was something along the lines of only very few rooms having been renovated thus far. My advice, if you do decide to stay here, by all means, request an updated room, unless you fancy time traveling about 3+ decades into the past. We didn't use the spa services or dine at the hotel. The lobby bar looked busy and popular at all times, though there was a whiff of chlorine wafting over the space (the pool must have been very close). Location-wise, I wouldn't say that the hotel is very conveniently positioned. We wound up having to take the on-street elevator and then the metro a couple of stops here and there to get to where we needed to be. Though there is a good sushi restaurant a very short walk away, on park grounds.
