Booked to stay at the Chateau as a birthday treat, having stopped by the bar for drinks a few years ago & liked the ambience. I booked direct by phone and stressed that we wanted pool, sauna and hammam facilities to relax the next morning. I opted to pay a bit more for a deluxe room - which turned out to be overlooking the bins and car park. First thing we spotted was a note saying the Chateau's pool was outdoor and closed, and the sister hotel's indoor pool and facilities were closed for refurbishment. This was never mentioned when I made my booking (a week earlier), even though I'd stressed this was the reason for choosing the Chateau d'Ouchy. The next morning we looked into the sauna and hammam in the Chateau - but were dismayed to find a small sauna and tiny hammam box squeezed into a small, cold, uninviting room, neither switched on and both needing half an hour warm-up time. We didn't bother. If you're looking for morning relaxing spa and leisure don't bother with the Chateau (or the Beau Rivage sister hotel). We wished we'd booked into the Hilton over the lake in Evian where we've stayed before, has excellent leisure & spa, and which is a fraction the price of the Chateau. Aside from this disappointment the ambience at the Chateau is lovely and service is excellent. The location is superb, right on the lake by the ferry and metro terminals, and in summer would be fabulous. There are interesting sculptures and artwork, and it's a nice refined atmosphere. The room looked imposing, heavy old oak door, high ceiling, comfortable bed, but maintenance was a bit lacking - a sharp-sided gap in the floor boards for example. Room facilities also poor - for the price paid, and with Nestle just down the lake, you'd think they'd put a Nespresso machine in the room and not a couple of sticks of instant coffee. Breakfast was too expensive to contemplate, so we went to a cafe over the road instead.

A party of 7 entered the bar after a nice dinner in Lausanne. I ordered the “bartender choice” Tanquery and white egg with Cardamom. I told the waitress that the egg smells strong. She said this is how it is supposed to be. My friends smelled it too. I was asking whether I can have another drink. Although the glass was full they refused to exchange the drink at it is not the policy. I was asking the manager who walked around but he said that he is not in charge although everyone saw he is part of the staff.

Dear Mr. Florian K Thank you for your feedback addressed about the Bar at the Chateau d’Ouchy. I am sincerely sorry to hear about your disappointing experience. Your feedback is important to me and has been seriously discussed with the manager and team. Indeed as an exception the manager was not present this day and the team is not allowed to offer a cocktail without the agreement of the person in charge. We will take measures about this type of situation. I would be pleased to talk to you about your convenience and I invite you to contact me by email at f.stefanini@brp.ch I remain at your entire disposal for any further special requests and thank you once again for your valuable and constructive feedback. Sincerely yours, Frédéric Stefanini Food & Beverage Director

Fantastic location on the lake. View from the room (Deluxe Lake-view room) was just incredible whatever time of the day or night. The room was very spacious and tastefully decorated. Friendly staff. Lovely atmosphere. Excellent food at the grill restaurant where the chef cooks in front of you. I stayed there for a few days on business but I would not hesitate to recommend to travellers looking for a stylish romantic hotel on the lake. Hotel guests have access to the 5 Monde Spa at the Beau-Rivage hotel (across the street) for a small fee.

Decided to stay here for a night in Lausanne while checking out the city and visiting the Olympic Museum. The hotel is by the lake and not in the commercial city center. The check in staff was good and received an upgrade based on the World of Hyatt Globalist status. The room was functional and internet extremely fast for a hotel. Breakfast room was a mess and way too hot, however. Could perhaps revisit when next time in the city.

Can’t fault this place. The staff are great and the rooms are lovely. We had a Lake View Junior Suite which was room enough for two adults and one 10 year old, even with the put up bed. The suite is in the oldest part of the hotel, which is a tower served by its own elevator and boasting period window features. Each room in the tower is on its own floor with it’s own entrance, although there is also a separate door from the small lobby, to a stairwell for emergencies. We liked that the room came with one Suisse adaptor and a city travel pass for each of us; both welcome conveniences. Darling daughter says ‘the bed was comfy, even though it was quite springy. The bedding was nice and the pillows comfortable’. The restaurant has a beautiful view of the lake and mountains. The food is really nice. Loads of breakfast options served in style. The bar was buzzy on Friday night and full with family’s taking a hot beverage on Sunday afternoon. Reception recommended restaurants and made reservations for us ahead of time - they were very communicative and provided the right information so I could make decisions. Sophie deserves a special mention. We arrived at night so opted for a taxi cab to transfer from from Lausanne-Gare Train Station to the hotel, costing 13 CHF and taking about 10 mins. We realised once settled that the Metro is just 1 minute walk from the hotel and takes similar 10 mins to travel to/from Lausanne-Gare to Ouchy where the hotel is, so... options. We felt safe, well looked after and very special bedding down in a Chateau style hotel with all the boutique mod cons.
