The City Hotel is nicely located along the banks of the river, which you can hear if you open the windows. Some rooms have a view of the Matterhorn. The rooms are both spacious and scrupulously clean. The bathroom tiles will give you funny flashbacks to the 70s, but they're in excellent condition, and they give the hotel a homey... More

Have skied in Zermatt for many years and find this the best for us. Christoph and Anja, and now the 3 kids, make this a very welcoming place to stay. Yes, it needs updating, and could be a bit warmer, but then you would have to pay more! Excellent breakfast. One of the best locations for ski buses or the... More

A large clean room, great view of the Matterhorn, and an amazing host. We could not have wanted for more after finishing the Haute Route! Christoph is a wonderful host; going out of his way to provide help, advice and information during our stay in Zermatt. We felt very welcome. We had a great stay in Zermatt and could easily... More

This was the final stop after hiking the Haute Route and it took a short walk to find the hotel but was worth it. Christoph was wonderful and went out of his way to provide advice and information. The room was large and clean and the breakfast was well done. Walking around Zermatt is highly entertaining and you can't beat... More

I really want to rank his hotel higher. Christoph is an excellent host who will do anything in his power to make you feel welcome. It was raining hard when we arrived at the train station; a call to the hotel and Christoph was there in minutes to give us a ride. The hotel was a short walk to the... More

It has a cosy and warm atmosphere. Mr. Christof the owner, Lena and Andrea were really nice hosts & friendly people! The hotel is small, but its location is great, a little walk to the main area where shops, cafes and ski rentals are located. Also, room size was good enough, there's free wifi that works in the reception and... More

Our room was large with a great view. Great location. Friendly owners. That's the good stuff. Terrible, limited breakfast. There weren't enough products in the bathroom, i.e. shampoo, soap, etc. And what was provided was in small packets, so it wasn't even enough to wash hair and body. The furniture in the room felt broken down and rickety. I've seen... More

I have stayed at this hotel alot over the last couple of years and every time I come back to Zermatt this is the first hotel I chose to stay at. The hotel itself is great, rooms are good size with a lovely balcony. It isn't modern but if you aren't looking for a fancy hotel, something clean, friendly and comfortable,... More

The City Hotel Garni is a great little hotel in the heart of Zermatt. Ange and Chrisof are excellent hosts and very knowlegable of the area. Christof helps arrange for a mountain guide, who took us skiing on the Schwartzhof glacier, an incredible experience. The location is excellent - 2 minute walk to the Sunnegge train, less than five to... More
