Very cosy hotel in front of the lifts. Rooms were big, well equipped, nicely decorated and very clean. Only small things prevent this hotel to be excellent in my opinion. I had the impression that waiters were "trainees" or quiet inexperienced for the job, which doesn't go in line with the excellent quality of the food and overall presentation. Portions were a bit small (in my opinion) during both dinner and breakfast.... and orange juice was only from concentrated :( Having said that, I liked the hotel and I'd highly recommend it to everyone.

We stayed at the hotel Berghof for 2 nights and should have booked for 3 nights. The view of the Matterhorn was incredible from the balcony. The room was large but still retained a coziness about it. The wife loved the large bathroom. The hotel also has 2 pools both indoor which is an amenity that many other hotels and condo's in Zermatt. do not have. The hotel is steps away from the lifts The hotel provides a good breakfast If you need a ride/transfer to or from the train station during the day they will provide that as well. The hotel also has a very nice and large outdoor area overlooking the Matterhorn with plenty of places to relax .The only drawback for an older couple is that it's a bit of a walk to the main part of town where all the shops are located. We've been to many places and I rarely give 5 star reviews but we both thought Hotel Berghof exceeded expectations and offers a better bang for your buck (or Euro) then many of the other hotels in Zermatt This is after looking at many of them online and then seeing them in person

We checked in today and was happily met at the Swiss Train main station by a gracious staff member—huge shout out as he was the most polite and kind staff member that we had ❤️. This hostelry is just gorgeous w various rooms and outdoor area finely decorated! All should sleep well here. The front desk recommended we walk up about 100 meters elevation to a restaurant for lunch. Great day. We dined at the hotel restaurant and found ourselves in another world! As we introduced ourselves, the waiter said, “I just need your room number..!” We were seated and a card was shown w choices. We decided to have cocktails and talk re menu and order some wine for dinner. The waiter questioned every request. Quotes: how do you know what wine you want if you haven’t ordered food. Your pronunciation of ‘fass ’ is incorrectly spoken. Bier vom fass’ . He bolted and a woman came to take over. Relief. End of rant. Sooo be prepared to stay at a palace, dine on very nice food, and get a cattle car shuffle at the get go. We like to dine at our pace w a cocktail, menu discussion w wine card, order food. Don’t push me to rush through what is anticipated to be the highlight of the trip—dining under the Matterhorn. Don’t treat me rudely as my German is not spoken well. Asked for bill. Nope. If it’s ‘put on the room’ you don’t get to see the bill for what you just ate. If you pay at table, you see bill. Doesn’t every restaurant need to give a bill that you can check? I paid at table. Now all the staff was royally peeved. We are all upset and I hated it.

From the moment we arrived at the Hotel Berghoff, we were made to feel like very special guests. Our room was lovely with a balcony with a fantastic view of the Matterhorn. Everything is designed for comfort everywhere on the hotel property. The pool and sauna areas are fabulous. Breakfast was so nice we chose to stay in for dinner for our second night there and we were blown away by terrific food, lovely ambiance and excellent service. The hotel is located right near the Matterhorn lift making it super easy to go up for hiking and sightseeing on the wonderful mountain tops. We hope to return and we won't have to look anywhere else for a fantastic place to stay.

We stayed at the Hotel Bergoff, Zermatt from the 11th to 14th August and will have fond memories of the stay for a long time to come. It is a family run hotel , I run by the Lerjen Perren family . The hotel is located next to the cable way for glacier paradise and a short walk from the town but there is a shuttle to pik and drop from the station. We were in a family room which was fairly large and the balcony opened up to the grand Matterhorn peak. The room was well appointed with a large bed, and an extra bed for the kid. The toilet had both a bath tub and shower. The hotel has two pools , both indoor and with a whirlpool - which was a very relaxing day to end the day after long walks and excursions. The hotel also has a well appointed spa , with sauna and a salt room. I have saved the best for the last- the food. The restaurant served amazing gourmet food- the dinner was to die for. A note of thanks for Paskale(apologies if I have misspelt the name) who waited on us for the dinners we had in the restaurant. He took good care of us.
