Lovely views from the terrace and south facing rooms of the Matterhorn and only a short distance to the town via the James Bond style tunnel. We found all the staff to be very friendly and helpful especially Miguel in the restaurant who made sure all your needs were met.the room was very clean and although very compact the bathroom... I've spent a lovely short ski-trip in Hotel Alpenroyal in March 2016 with my family. Even though it wasn't the best hotel I've stayed at in Zermatt, I still highly enjoy our trip. Hotel is located a bit outside the centre of the town, on a quiet location a bit uphill at the end of the ski run - very... More

Our second visit. Clean, comfortable accommodation. Nothing too much trouble for the staff, who remembered us from our previous stay. A good varied continental style breakfast, and pleasant evening meals. Decent 3 star quality - hope to return.

Stayed here for one week for Alpine hiking over Summer. My friend and I were received with shortness, rudeness and unfriendliness from the staff. No one greeted us at the train station to pick us up, as promised. Food was salty and over priced. We were forced to buy alcohol in order to receive water! The head waiter Miguel was... More

We spent a week here at the end of June, would highly recommend it. Very friendly staff. One of our party needs a gluten free diet and this was catered for very well, special thanks to Juan for this. Would definitely stay there again. Well positioned for the town and access to the mountains.

Hotel is nice, good alpine village hotel. Restaurant food was good. Quiet location 10mins outside the main town on foot. Perfectly good place to stay if you want a base in Zermatt. Clean and friendly staff. Lovely terrace overlooking the village and the Matterhorn. Caution: 1) hotel is up a steep hill on foot so not great for children or... More

Hotel was excellent! Booked a room with a balcony and view of the Matterhorn, and it didn't disappoint. Hotel was in a great location, thanks in part to the roadside elevator that takes you up to the hotel which is above the village. Be sure to get the hotel shuttle to pick you up from the train station and they'll... More

1.0 star rating 4/18/2016 First to Review I was very excited to come to Zermatt and my high hopes were swiftly dashed. The train dropped us off 850 meters from the hotel. There were no buses and no pick up offered by the hotel because it was after 1700. That means I had to carry over 60kilos of bags to... More

Fantastic friendly atmosphere, warm and cosy. Staff go well beyond the normal meaning of service, especially Miguel, the awesome chief waiter, who made our stay at the motel feel like we were staying with friends. The wellness centre is extraordinary, with fantastic views including the Matterhorn, a huge pool and great Turkish steam room. The service and facilities are well... More

We spent four nights here on a short ski break. The hotel will collect from and drop off to the rail station, without charge, which was convenient. The location is excellent. We could see the Matterhorn from our balcony, ski lifts were 5 mins away and we could ski back at the end of the day to within 3 mins... More
