Another amazing holiday at Altesse. This was our 6th visit, but sadly only for a week this time. As the owner Max said, the "Altesse must feel like a home from home by now" - it does!
We stayed in the second floor apartment this time, but have rented the penthouse and first floor previously. This is relatively new chalet (we first visited in 2010) finished and furnished to a very high standard with 3 large bedrooms, a great well-equipped kitchen with steel and wooden work surfaces, a spacious lounge with a large wooden dining table and open fire, and uninterrupted Matterhorn views from each apartment. The balcony has a table and chairs plus 2 reclining sun lounger chairs to relax after a walk or simply to soak up sun and Matterhorn view.
There is a wellness area in the basement with a sauna, steam room, shower, relaxation room and toilet.
The chalet is in a great location for hikes and is very peaceful.
We were very well looked after by the chalet manager, Nikki. She was friendly and attentive, and is very knowledgeable about Zermatt, e.g. restaurant tips, etc.
We look forward to our next trip.

One word can describe our stay: PERFECT !
Chalet Altesse benefits from a unique location, which was a key criteria for us. With the magnificent direct view of the Matterhorn in the foreground, we enjoyed a signature Zermatt experience.
As a family of 4 with 2 children, we wanted a place that was close to the start of the ski lifts, but also to the center of Zermatt, without being in the midst of the nightlife.
Chalet Altesse is ideally located in one of the most chic area of Zermatt, just a few minutes walk from the start of the "Furi" ski lift. It is also possible to take the free bus at the stop next to it to go to the ski lift (1 stop) or in a few stops to the center of Zermatt.
The apartment was in pristine condition, spacious, quiet, decorated with good taste and branded design furniture.
Although we mostly ate outside, we enjoyed having a fully equipped kitchen for breakfast. The daily croissant delivery, with bread order as an option was very practical.
Nikki, the Chalet Manager anticipated all our needs and was fully available to us, which made us feel we were the sole customers in the small building (whereas it was fully booked).
Chalet Altesse belongs to a well-known family from Zermatt that also owns the famous Zum See restaurant. They will do the outmost to share their love of Zermatt and have you enjoy a perfect stay in Switzerland’s best ski resort (says the Swiss guy !).
To be recommended without any restriction !

Visited Zermatt with the family in mid-January and were fortunate to stay in this chalet. It was a last minute booking but both Julia and Nikki were super accommodating. We arrived by train and were provided taxi service upon arrival to the chalet. (Taxi is provided on arrival and departure for direct bookings). The chalet is toward the edge of town but it has a perfect view of the Matterhorn!! The units are very clean, spacious and comfortable. We opted for two bedrooms (2 bedroom and 3 bedroom rental rates are available for each unit). This was perfect for the four of us. Daily delivered croissants and and complimentary snacks upon arrival were a treat after a long journey.
Two things to note…. First the chalet is on the edge of town so there is a little longer walk to the city center. The distance isn’t the issue…. It is however on a constant gradual incline. The walk is better after you have acclimated to the altitude. Secondly firmer pillows would be nice.
All in all I highly recommend this place!

We had a wonderful week in the penthouse. Nikki did a great job of making sure we had everything we needed - location was perfect with easy access to glacier express and e-bus stop. The apartment was generously fitted out and very well presented - we would highly recommend.

We stayed here as a family of six and enjoyed our time very much. The hosts are very nice and accommodating, the rooms are nicely set up and the living room with matterhorn views and a fireplace leaves great memories. The location the the bottom of the mountain allows to ski back directly. Nice to also have a well appointed kitchen and some basics in the fridge already upon arrival. Would certainly come back

I highly recommend Chalet Altesse. My wife, my two adult children and I enjoyed a great week from December 22 to December 30 in the patio level three bedroom apartment. The views of the Matterhorn are magnificent and unobstructed. The apartment is spacious, clean, tastefully designed and very comfortable. The kitchen is modern, had everything we needed and attractive. The living room is large, is perfect for relaxing after skiing and has a nice fireplace that we really enjoyed. The bedrooms are perfectly sized, modern and comfortable.
The Chalet is in the south side of town, about a 20 minute walk to the center of town. We enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere, tucked close to the mountain. There was a lot of snow the week of our visit, so we easily skied almost to the chalet at the end of the day. It is a pretty short walk or bus ride to the lift in the morning.
Our hosts Julia and Nikki were terrific. They were responsive, had great recommendations for lunches, dinners and activities and are lovely people. They also arranged taxis for us on arrival and departure.
We also were very pleased to meet the owners of the chalet, who also own and run the acclaimed Zum See restaurant, over a delightful lunch at Zum See on Christmas Day. They are very warm and welcoming.
I can’t wait to return to Zermatt.

Spent another very comfortable and delightful week in Altesse with six adults. Great location in the Winkelmatten part of Zermatt, great service and great people servicing the chalet. We’ve visited Zermatt a handful of times and this time opted for an apartment. We stayed at the Chalet Altesse in the apartment on the 1st floor, and had a great week. The apartment was spotless. Really pleasant stay - we’ll go there again.

The top floor, 3 bedroom apartment provided for a cozy stay with perfect views of the Matterhorn from the living room and the balcony, which is bathed in sunlight in the afternoon. The property is modern, clean and well appointed, with good sauna and steam room facilities. It worked well for a family of 4 staying with friends.
Our host Julia was extremely helpful and friendly, available to arrange transfers and provide advice on the many fine eating establishments around Zermatt, not to mention the family run Zum See restaurant.
