Stayed for one night before Christmas. Full moon in December just a month after the big moon night in November this year. It was such a fantastic stay -- the front desk staff was very welcoming and friendly, the dinner room staff were amazingly patient and the food was great -- and besides, as I had to leave with the...

What an experience to spend a night at 3100m surrounded by breathtaking a mountain range while still enjoying the comfort of a first class hotel. A worthwhile and unique (side) trip for couples and families alike. However, be aware of the height and subsequently thinner air!

That’s always our travel preference, so we decided to treat ourselves to 2 nights in the Gornergrat Hotel. We’re regular summer visitors to Zermatt and have joined the day-trippers up the mountain a few times in the past. However, although that gave us the lovely views, the experience once the trains have stopped provides those views with a quietness that...

because of food. Dinner was like shabu-shabu? that we had our country. I expected to have some swiss food course. Even though it has absolutly perfect view of matthorn so it worth every penny, if room rate is around 350fr, the food should be better!

Unique place for a hotel. Great views especially during sunrise and sunset (depending on weather off course). Nice comfortable rooms but way to expensive. Food quality is really bad. No bar in the hotel.

We arrived on top of the Gornergrat - 3'100m - about noon on a sunny summer day. The view around to all the uncountable mountains (most of them over 4'000m) is majestic and grandiose. In earlier years we were here for skiing and had not so much time to look around. But this time we enjoyed everything. The good food...

We had lunch on a particularly snowy day, so we had to sit indoors. On an earlier trip we have had lunch on the terrace - a much better experience since one is that much closer to the snow. The decor is charming - all wood. The views from the windows are fabulous. In fact all the stars in my rating...

We had lunch in the inside dining room. The waiter was very friendly and super efficient. I chose the pork sausage with Rosti and my wife has smoked salmon with Rosti - and we had a side green salad. The meal was the best we have had in Switzerland! The meals plus a glass of Pinot noir followed by coffee...

The hotel is on gornergrat, you arrive here only by train from zermatt. The room with matthorn view is right facing the big triangle and you can see it all day long from your window. The best time is after the last train and before the first train, it's quiet and just like only you, the mountains and the glaciers....

This would be by far the most unforgettable stay for us! The spectacular view by the window is breathtakingly marvellous! Staff were great and attended to our needs promptly, dinner and breakfast were great too especially if you sit by the window! Highly recommended!
