Detailed Reviews
A very nice B&B hotel. It’s situated in a quiet area, a few bus stops from the centre and the lake.
We spent 3 nights there and our family had 2 Exclusive Double Rooms with sofa bed : spacious, clean and absolutely no noise from surrounding rooms or the corridor. You are therefore guaranteed a good night’s sleep on comfortable beds which is certainly appreciated after a long hot day . Air conditioning also works well. There was a minibar in the room which was replenished with 2 bottles of water every day : a welcome extra, not available in all hotels today.
There was plenty of choice in the breakfast room (our grandchildren were disappointed there were no pancakes, but they survived nevertheless !). A special thanks to the lovely lady in the breakfast room who served everybody’s drinks with a smile and kind words.
All the personnel we met were friendly and helpful. Definitely a hotel to be recommended.

The Hotel City Lugano is a gem tucked in the city center. It's easy to find, parking is easy to access (and secure!) and every staff member went out of their way to be helpful. The room was nicely appointed and the only small issue was we stayed during a few unseasonably warm days and really needed to be able to cool the room or have a fan. (Thermostat was locked and too warm).
Breakfast was a pure pleasure each day with lovely helpful, friendly attendants and the food is fresh and very good!
We walked everywhere we wanted to visit but the hotel included public transportation passes which we ended up not needing. The area is safe to walk, even in early evening.
We will stay here again if visiting Lugano again.

Found the hotel almost by chance, already at the reception Mrs. Alessia was extremely courteous. The room was spotless, very spacious, elegant and minimal but with all the comforts. I particularly appreciated the magnifying mirror in the bathroom and the use of the dispensers for
Soap . I also appreciated the presence of the two bowls and the towel for my dog. I would add the excellent, varied and abundant breakfast and compliments to the very kind lady who served the breakfasts. Super convenient parking under the hotel and proximity to the centre... made our stay perfect!

I chose this hotel based on the glowing reviews, and now feel it is important to write a review to provide a more nuanced opinion.
Our room was quite small and fairly basic in terms of what was provided. The view of the hills was magnificent.
The hotel is in a quiet part of town, about a ten minute walk to the lake and town centre.
Breakfast was good.
Reception was fine - in line with what I would have expected.
Would I stay there again? Possibly, although probably not.
One tip: If, like us, you are travelling by train, contact the hotel 48 hours in advance so that they can email you a Ticino ticket providing free public transport for the duration of your stay. We took a taxi from the station to the hotel which cost us 30 Swiss Francs. Instead we could have taken a number 6 bus from the station (3 stops) using a Ticino ticket.

Convenient hotel to reach, it has a bus stop right in front.
There is also a hotel garage (if you book directly from them it will cost 15.- fr per night).
Breakfast is a buffet and there is a nice lady who serves you coffee.
Rooms with good sound towards the outside and a spectacular shower that separates the bathroom from the bedroom.
The mini bar in the room is a bit noisy.

Stayed here after travelling on the Bernina Express train and bus. The hotel is about 20 minutes walk from Stazione Nord where the Bernina Express drops you off. We had an average size double room, with bathroom separated by glass. Kettle and tea/coffee in the room. Also mini fridge and in room safe which had an international plug adaptor in the door. Large walk in shower in the bathroom. Buffet breakfast available in the lobby area. Reasonable choice of hot and cold items, and a toaster available. Very helpful lady looking after the area. Hotel is around a 15 minute walk to the centre and the lake. If you don’t want to go too far to eat, we found the Hollywood Bar ristorante and pizzeria just a few minutes walk along the same street as the hotel, where we had an excellent pizza at a very reasonable price. We also dined at Ristorante Cinese Orient Express on Corso Elvezia, about 5 minutes walk away and a good busy Chinese restaurant.

My daughter and I spent a long weekend in Lugano. The location of the hotel was good. 15 minutes walk to the city center. The reception was very friendly. The parking garage is extremely narrow. You can't get into the garage with a large SUV, so I would ask the hotel before arriving if there is an outside parking space. The rooms are very clean and well furnished with shower gel, shampoo, etc. The mattress in our room was very hard and the blankets were rather thin. But I was given a second blanket when I asked. The breakfast buffet was also very good and the employee at the breakfast buffet was very attentive and nice.
We would be happy to go back.

The hotel is very clean and efficient. It doesn’t have great views but it’s easy to walk to the lake and the receptionist offered at check-in free bus tickets which we used twice. In fact, I would say the staff is the best thing about this hotel- helpful, efficient, friendly. The breakfast staff was also very nice. I hope management realizes this!

This hotel was great - a short walk from the lake and main square with good breakfast and a lovely room with views. The reception and catering staff were incredibly helpful and informative. This hotel was so much nicer than many of the others we stayed with on our trip through Switzerland and we would definitely choose to stay here again. A particular plus was that the bed was a proper couples bed - not the usual twin pushed together arrangement that is more usual in Switzerland.

Hotel slightly away from the center in a modern style. The hall is very bright, as are the rooms which are equally modern, clean and equipped with a bathroom with a large open shower.
Not particularly friendly receptionist used to the quick passage of customers.
Very sad note, the breakfast, poor in variety, quality and service, slow in cleaning the tables and in replenishing the exhausted food.
Equipped with underground parking, access and especially exit are particularly problematic even for medium-length cars. Be very careful.

Hi Jin,
our garage is small, but it dipends on how do you feel. Some people drive inside with a Range Rover, other prefer to park outside.
Please let us know if you want to reserve a parking outside.
