The best part of the hotel is its location. It is situated right in the center. Just walking distance from the lake. There are lot of shops around the hotel. (In case you are looking for a peaceful and secluded hotel then probably this is not the place for you). We traveled in a group and enjoyed our stay. The... More

The hotel is located next to the lake and in the city center. The rooms unfortunately do not offer comfortable chairs. Besides sleeping, there is no much you can do in the room. Although there is a desk and a chair in the rooms, they are not comfortable to perform any kind of task beside chilling (e.g. work on your... More

Perfectly situated for the centre of the old town, yards from the waterfront. Hotel also stands on the most expensive shopping street, for those who love Gucci and wonderfully unaffordable Swiss watches. Simple, pleasant hotel, clean, and cheaper than the vastly overpriced alternatives all around. (Swiss prices are now so high that even the locals cannot afford them. A typical... More

Very friendly and helpful staff provided a warm welcome. This is in a great location in the centre of the old town and just a block or 2 from the lake. A quick bus trip gets you to the train while the funicular is being reconstructed. A good breakfast is included. The staff are very willing to help with advise... More

My check-in was one of the most pleasant I have ever had. The hotel only a block to the famous lakeshore esplanade and is in the heart of the old part of the city on the Via Nassa, which is a pedestrian-only area (mostly). The only drawback is how noisy those late night pedestrians are when they leave the nearby... More

San Carlo Garni hotel is a cosy place, really central and well looked after. The Lake is just a few minutes away from the hotel. It is a bit too expensive for what it has to offer but Switzerland is an expensive country anyway.

Even if centrally located, the rooms have no light and no air, looking onto a narrow street and separated from the opposite houses by a few meters only. I wonder if some people who have reviewed this hovel have really been there. Not only have the rooms no view and no light, but they are the dirtiest rooms I have... More

Stayed here or a short break. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much bother! The hotel is very reasonably priced given its location right in the centre of Lugano. The lake and shops are so close as are various very good eating places. Our double room was at the front of the hotel as was more tha... More

Great setting. Is in a stylish shopping street a moments walk from the Lake and attractive squares with a wide selection of restaurants. Booked a bedroom for four and impressed by design, furnituring, cleanliness and friendly, helpful staff. Price for Lugano reasonable especially as includes breakfast; free wifi and ,as everything is near, means no additional transport costs. Interesting, attractive... More

The hotel is very well located. Rooms are super clean but unfortunately no a/c are available. if you visit during summer it's very hot in the rooms. if you have a room in the first floor you can hear the people on the street very good and habe to close the windows. Breakfast is very basic but okay.
