Upon arrival we asked to store our backpacks and we were rejected do to “covid restrictions”. We had to backtrack to the train station, pay to store the bags, and then get started on our day about an hour behind schedule. This was at first annoying and a bit ridiculous since covid transfer by luggage seems unlikely at best. However what really bothered us was that on the morning of our departure we watched several early arrivers drop their bags for storage before their check in was available. Perhaps we interacted with a misinformed staff member, perhaps the restrictions changed in a matter of two days (I doubt it). But this left a sour taste in our mouth upon departure.
We arrived early after our flight ; and we decided to leave our luggage at reception, while we went to discover the city. We were given the FREE Ticino Ticket , which offers free travel throughout the region and discounts on local attractions and cable cars. The staff were knowledgeable and multilingual . The room was a bit small with cabin shower, however was clean and practical; double bed with bunk bed , which is suitable for a family. We loved the continental breakfast, also a good coffee. We will stay again.
Room was clean spacious and adequate for our needs , the service was good and the room came with a ticket for free bus travel / reduced costs on other things in Lugano which if you get a get a chance seems a lovely place to visit but like the rest of Switzerland is a little expensive
The hotel is in the same building with Ibis Lugano and Novotel. The room is smaller than the other two but the price is cheaper. The location is great. It is very close to Lugano Paradiso train station, bus station No. 1 and 2. You can walk to the funicular station to Monte Salvatore. The Migros convenient store is a few minutes walk. At check in, The reception persons were nice and helpful although I could not do an early check in. The room I stayed #611 was quite small but clean and comfortable. The hotel supply was only small soap. No refrigerator in the room. The breakfast was great with many selections. The price was relatively high to be called budget hotel. Overall it was OK for me. I might come back for the next convention in 2021.
The hotel is well located for restaurants and shops in this part of town. The room was what you'd expect for an Ibis Budget hotel; very basic including a double bed with a bunk bed above, toilet (with 'cardboard' door), shower and sink. Good WIFI. A bit cramped but manageable. Disappointed that the use of the underground garage was charged at CHF 20,- per day.
