Beautiful Property! The grounds were spectacular! The entire hotel personnel were delightful! The lobby is gorgeous and the breakfast delicious - located right by the funicular, Complimentary bus tickets to see the immaculate city! We will be back!
It's a beautiful place forgotten in time, bad management, rude receptionist girl, racist, hysterical. Couldn't sleep all night with mosquitos, room smell chlorine and moist, sort of abandoned, At restaurant they asked you to pay before you even ordered your meal, bad service only for foreigners. They constantly harass you with treats. On the phone. Had made a booking before but it's written nowhere. Was never so insulted in all my life!
My wife and I stayed at the Grand Villa for five nights and had a wonderful experience. The hotel is absolutely beautiful and the staff is always ready to help. Our friend Mario at the front desk was so welcoming and made our stay very special. We will be back soon and strongly recommend this hotel. Todd and Solange
Very much enjoyed my stay in September 2022. Great room with wonderful view of the lake. Nice breakfast. Lovely spa (including 15m pool, hot tub, saunas and steam rooms). Helpful front desk. Nice bar and piano player each night.
Great service, great piano player the evening and the room was just splendid ! The gardens are so beautiful you don’t feel like being in town. Thé spa was also very nice. A little bit disappointed that the eggs are not included in the breakfast. A big thanks to all the staff !! I recommend this hotel
This is a very unique and special property in a gorgeous, non touristy area. It blends old world charm with modern amenities. We were happily able to book one room with Hyatt points and paid for the other room for my family. We were thrilled that the delicious, gourmet breakfast was included for both rooms. The staff was attentive and friendly. The private lido across the street is amazing. Be sure to ask for the free 2 hour paddle boarding (they call the company next door and arrange it). The highlight of the trip was renting a small boat for $60 US for a hour at the same place (a boating license is not required) and exploring Lake Lugano on our own. Magical and memorable!
My wife and I stayed at the Grand Hotel in early August. The place is a gem. A complete mix of old and new world. We had a garden room which had a nice den area, great bathroom and small deck. The staff at breakfast and happy hour are very attentive and very well trained. The views from breakfast and happy hour are second to none. The outdoor "great lawn" area is delightful and the "beach" was much better than I could have imagined. We swam in the lake often and enjoyed it more than expected. The walk to town is 15 minutes with a lovely park and beautiful scenery along the way. If we went back to Lugano there is no doubt we'd stay there again.
The hotel has 5 star stamped on all facets. Looks luxurious and the service is even better. The buffet breakfast was good (not great), but we had a great time in the area, thanks to this hotel. Mount Bre Funicular is 2 minutes from the door of the hotel. The garden is very well maintained, and we had a great time enjoying our dinner in the garden.
From the reception team remembering our room number hours later to the wait staff finding us the perfect corner for our lunch the experience here was amazing. We LOVED the beach club across the street, right on the lake which came in handy on some very hot days. Also super handy that it is directly across the street from the bus stop if you don't want to taxi from the train station or don't have a car. The only note - it would be good to have a way to ask for help with luggage etc from the bottom of the driveway as it is a bit of a hill which might be tough with a lot of cases. *Special mention to Ricardo at the front desk - an absolute gem who treats every guest like Byonce!
Villa Grand Hotel Castagnola is one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at! I wish it got more recognition from us Americans. I haven’t heard of anyone who has stayed there before we went. Now I am recommending it to EVERY ONE. The property has absolutely everything you would ever need. The spa is amazing, the indoor pool, the whirlpool, the garden, the snack bar and our favorite part.. the private lido!!! We wish our stay was longer but we made the most of being there only 1 night and 2 days. They also gave us an upgrade to a junior suite and our view from the massive balcony was gorgeous!! It was also convenient the bus stop was right outside the hotel and complimentary bus passes came with check in. It was a 5 min ride to city center. Great location, amenities and service. A++++…
