Picked the hottest June to visit this hotel as part of an Inghams tour' we move to St.Moritz from Luzurne. Very smart hotel in the centre of town, good efficient welcome with our bags already in the room on arrival. As weary travellers we headed to the room immediately, really hot, fiddled with a control on the wall with no effect, I then phoned reception to ask how the air con worked only to be told to open the windows, in fairness I suppose as the number of times air con would be required it's not an option. Nice lounge and bar with very helpful staff, the health spa on the roof was clean consists of jazzuzi, treatment rooms, sauna etc, good view over the town. Restaurant was ok, again being on a tour you are pushed into one area, the dinners were good enough, breakfast could have been better, the poorest of the three hotels we visited on this tour. Main complaint was our bathroom, to get into the shower you needed mountaineering skills, the bathroom was so small you had to climb over the toilet to get into the bath, it seemed that others on the tour had better bathrooms, luck of the drawer. The bedroom itself was spacious with comfortable beds. The town is clean and tidy as you would expect from Switzerlands version of Rodeo Drive, all expensive shops. All in all worth visiting but would not rush back.

Dear John R Thank you so much for your review. St. Moritz is an energy saving town, which does not allow any hotel by law to install air conditioning. Thanks to the high altitude of 1800 metres above sea level, the nights chill down and opening the windows during the evening grants for a good and healthy sleep. Most of our bathrooms are, as you have seen, within an appropriate size. I apology you got one of the smaller ones. Hoping to show you a better room next time, I remain at your disposal for any further assistance. Best regards, Dominik Zurbruegg, General Manager

We stayed at this hotel for town nights in a Suite. The hotel was modern and well appointed, however the lack of air-conditioning was an issue as the temperature rose. The restaurant was not really attractive however as the weather improved we ate outside in a terrace area which was fabulous. Breakfast was dominated by packaged tour groups and a combination of the handling of food, coughing on food and gluttony were not that attractive or enjoyable. for the other guests. This was an ok stay that could have been so much better.

Dear belladonna01 First of all, I would like to thank you for your feedback, which I take - hotelwise - as an allover positive experience. But I see you have had some very disappointing moments, especially during breakfast. I sincerely apology for the inconvenience during breakfast. Our hotel is proud to have an overall rate of 50% of groups only through the summer season, where many other colleagues need to have a much higher rate. Unfortunately, you came into a group during breakfast and I totally agree that this is not the maximum experience as an individual traveller. Regarding the air conditioning, we are not allowed to install a/c as St. Moritz is an energy saving town. Therefore you will not find any a/c in any hotel here. Due to the high altitude of 1800 metres above sea level, the nights chill down all summer long and a good a healthy sleep is guaranteed with only opening the window in the evening. Hoping to show you 'the better side' of being our guest, I would love to welcoming you back on another occasion and am sure, you will experience a much better time with us. Warm regards, Dominik Zurbruegg, General Manager

Wonderful place, very good friendly, professional service. Nice room, excellent restaurant. We arrived by pick-up service from the railway station midday, having been delayed and having had no lunch yet. On the terrace as well as the restauarant full service was available, which was welcomed very much by friends and ourselves.

This was our first visit to St Moritz and it lived up to all of our expectations especially the comfortable and friendly Hotel Monopol. The hotel had very efficient reception staff, wonderful restaurant and was conveniently placed for skiing and shops. The hotel is very clean with a very modern feel. The spa has great views over the lake and mountains. A really good trip out is taking the Bernina Express and a horse carriage ride up Val Roseg. There is also a good wine bar called Pavarotti near the hotel although the hotel bar has a good atmosphere. St Moritz is modern with lots of activities. We will definitely stay at the Monopol again.
