Stylish and legendary: the Steigenberger Grandhotel Belvédère combines the traditional charm of a Grand Hotel with the exclusive comfort of a modern building. Located centrally at Davos Platz, the guest can not only spend a fascinating winter holiday in the Steigenberger - it is also possible to enjoy a varied sporting holiday in summer. After skiing or a long walk, relax in the hotel's own wellness area with its sauna, steam bath and its spacious bathing landscape. The town in Graubünden is particularly famous for the World Economic Forum which is held there every year in January and for which the Steigenberger Grandhotel caters for the guests' culinary wishes. As far as conference planning is concerned, our staff can always be counted on to provide creative ideas, such as, for example, a day's meeting in an alpine chalet. And for our holiday guests our staff always has special holiday tips for events in the skiing and holiday region of Davos Klosters.

We arrived on a rainy day here for our first day in Switzerland, but this hotel made our stay feel like vacation. The view from the room was so gorgeous I didn't feel like I missed out too much of Davos. Additionally, the sauna/steam rooms were so comfortable, it set a good note for the rest of our trip to Switzerland. At breakfast, they had a little bit of everything we could possibly want including dim sum. And we managed to catch our train with 10 minutes to spare because of the complementary car to the station.

A beautiful hotel we’ve now visited in July for the 2nd time, with a relaxed feel, obliging staff, good food, and very clean. We stayed for a week in a superior double room with comfortable bed and restful pillows. The double basin bathroom, drenching shower, bath & closed toilet were ideal. Our beds were turned down each night with a chocolate gift on the pillows. The bedroom team were laden with fresh supplies should we need them. Coffee/tea making facilities and a large balcony with lovely view of the town and down the valley , with sun on it all morning were an added bonus. Breakfast was all types of selection and plenty of it. Dinner had a set 3 course menu for the week, but if you didn’t want that we had the allowance of 65 CHF each per evening to spend on the main menu. We could eat inside or outside. There is a large comfortable lounge bar and all waiting staff are polite, professional and pleasant. The reception staff were also friendly and helpful, being quite busy at times. There is a large swimming pool, jacuzzi and gym also sauna . Tea fruit and clean towels available, wash down shower and changing cubicles. Bathrobes supplied in the bedrooms. The hotel provided a discount card on all lifts, local trains and free buses around town. We felt relaxed and refreshed after our week walking miles each day in the mountain air, seeing wild flowers and clanging cows, old chalets and punctual trains. Fully recommend! 10 out of 10!

Although it’s a 5* hotel, that is because of facilities. In reality, it’s on a main road so having the balcony door open for ventilation at night, you’ll be kept awake. Doors closed, it’s fine but no air! The shower over bath in our room was plenty hot but the shower screen was an utter disaster, leaked everywhere. The pillows were aliens I’m sure as when you put your head on them they just collapsed ‘ were horrible. Staff and hotel itself were fine & staff especially good. Restaurant was mouth-wateringly expensive for our £ exchange rate as was everywhere else. Being charged 7F for some hot water (for a decent tea bag, not that terrible Lipton nshite) and tiny jug of milk was unnecessary & should have been free. Switzerland is great but you need a mortgage to spend as you’d want to.

We liked the helpfulness, professionalism and friendliness of the staff of all ranks and in all areas of the hotel that we frequented (concierge, front desk, restaurants). The location is very good, for example if events in the Davos congress center have to be attended. The hotel however, is very old and urgently needs a total renovation, starting with the partly damaged exterior facade (especially at the staircase to the main entrance, not exactly the best calling card for newly arriving guests) and the discoloration of the otherwise very attractive ceiling in the spacious laid out lounge/bar to the room furnishings (dirty fitted carpets, outdated sanitary installations, inferior cushions, poorly closing doors, carelessly furnished, very dark adjoining room in our "superior double room") to the public toilets in the basement of the restaurant (toilet seat loose, flickering neon tube). In this respect, the term "grand hotel" is at best historically accurate. It is surprising that the local management does not have an efficient controlling (governessess, in-house craftsmen) that detects such defects, records them and rectifies them as the need arises, and that the Steigenberger Group obviously sees no need for action here either. With reference to the other guests during our short stay, the management is probably more interested in large groups of tourists from abroad who don't notice such shortcomings in a 5-star hotel or don't care.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here over the Easter weekend. The hotel’s decor is elegant & stylish. Our standard room was spacious & very clean with a fabulous view of the mountains. The spa is large with spacious saunas, steam room & quiet area. Breakfast was super, with a good choice that caters for all. The staff, without exception, were extremely cheerful, friendly, smiley, helpful & professional. They really made us feel welcome. Fantastic service! The hotel is ideally located. Highly recommend this hotel. We left feeling very relaxed.

Classy and stylish building - even it is older (some parts from 1875!), it is pretty well maintained and always clean. It is located in at the 'main' street, the Promenade directly opposit the Kirchner museum and a stone's throw away from the famous Ice Hockey Stadium in Davos. The personnel is very helpfull and always friendly. The Shuttle Service is very appreciated, so you can go to the Ski Slopes without need of your own car or the public transport.

This is one of the older-style Swiss properties but it is certainly well kept up and the 2BR suite (Signature corner suite plus connecting double room) did not feel old at all. Our teenage kids liked the vibe of the property. We liked the suite and the terraces with expansive alpine views; there was a large bathroom and plenty of closet space. There was no bar of soap or shower cap in the room but I was able to get one downstairs. Breakfast buffet was very good; we received items such as avocado that were not on the buffet. Dinners at the restaurants (the Italian plus the dining room) were all excellent. We were satisfied with the choices of foods; in the Italian restaurant, there was no fish on the menu but they share the kitchen with the other restaurant and so we got items from the other menu delivered. The only thing disappointing here was the hotel gym which I thought was a bit sparse but it was OK. They need a foam roller though. I was going to buy one for them in town as a gift. Couldn't imagine how they could go without one. Davos Fitness is a full service gym in town near the train station that sells day passes. Truth is that most people don't use gyms here as they are running around outdoors all day long. The hotel offers reasonably priced massage services at the hotel. The pool is good but overchlorinated; the jacuzzi was broken all 5 days of our stay; and the saunas were fine. They did not have a bathing suit spinner to dry one. The hotel offers a shuttle to the train station and also to the ski areas. The shuttle does not run to the ski areas between noon and 3pm which is bad if you are going for a beginner lesson (offered daily by Davos Ski School at 12:15) but if you ask at the front desk (see a manager such as Alberto if problems), they will get you transport. The bus system in town is very good and runs along the street by the hotel. It runs every 7 minutes and it is free to hotel guests. We just mainly used the bus and didn't concern ourselves much with the hotel shuttle except when we needed it and then arranged to schedule it in advance. The hotel has 3 shuttles and probably needs more of them during peak season. The hotel seems to think the guests are demanding about shuttles, but I think that it is an important part of the service offered by the hotel to make getting around Davos a pleasure for its visitors. The manager came out to greet us at check-in and to see us off when we left. It was a nice genuine gesture. Compared to other properties: The Seehof is right near the Parsenn ski area and is super convenient if you want to fall out of bed and go to the mountain. Our kids decided after a day that they liked the Parsenn area. But the hotel is not equivalent to this property for food or facilities. The Intercontinental probably has better facilities but it is outside the city and does not have a shuttle to the city except to the ski areas. From this hotel you can walk just about anywhere in town and it is easy to hop on and off the bus. The stadium with the Davos Hockey Club is just 3 minutes walk (we had a great time watching a game there), and Schneiders Cafe is a few minutes down the street; it is a good alternative if you want less formal eating and we went there 3x in our 5 day stay. There is a Co-Op convenience store down the street right by the Casino. Hotel staff were very good prearrival in terms of communicating via email and giving us prearrival advice for ski school, lift tickets and equipment rental. Only other thing we didn't like was that at night it was warm in the rooms because there is no AC and you don't expect to want it in wintertime, but if you open the windows you hear cars or people yelling in the street. Climate control in a corner suite would be nice. I was hoping for a more luxurious spa experience at this resort compared to other Swiss hotels I've stayed at. It's a 5-star hotel but not on the same level as others I've enjoyed in this country. Our flight was delayed a day due to the fire at JFK airport which knocked out services. The hotel was very nice about accommodating our delayed arrival and delaying our stay by a night. If we were going to return to Davos, this hotel would be our first choice. We enjoyed Davos as a ski destination and as a city to visit. My wife and I who are nonskiers found other amusing things to enjoy while the kids did their sport.

Wonderful hotel smack in the heart of Davos and close to everything. Great room warm with all utilities and the best thing about the hotel would be the friendly staff from reception to room services and more. They remember your name and are very attentive to your needs. Room is comfortable and very quiet as well. Love the free fruits and welcome gift.
