During my last visit in "my other home Switzerland" I stayed at this beautiful hotel. Customer service is extremely professional and very friendly. My room had a private balcony and I enjoyed it with a "Glühwein" in the evenings, observing the amazing alpine scenery. It was a nice gateway for me to catch a break in between visiting family members and friends. I grew up in Switzerland and stayed at many different hotels. This place has a friendly atmosphere and was much gentler on my holiday budget than any other hotel I ever stayed in the "Berner Oberland". I hope to return soon and recommend you to anyone looking for a relaxed, casual atmosphere whilst enjoying top Swiss quality on every level!
We chose the Edelweiss based on the excellent reviews on Tripadvisor and other sites and were not disappointed. From the outset, Tom responded to our e:mails promptly and was helpful on all aspects of our trip be it information on the wearing of masks on public transport to reassuring us that they would provide dinner for us even if we were delayed. Our room was on the first floor and had a fantastic view of the Jungfrau. It was great to return to the hotel after a long day’s hike and relax whist enjoying a cup of tea (provided free) on the balcony. Breakfast composed a good selection of local bread (which was still warm if you ate around 7:30) together with a range of cereals, cold meats and cheese as well as juices. The four course dinner was good value and wholesome consisting of a salad followed by homemade soup, the main meat course (fish on Friday) ending with dessert. The service was efficient and attentive. On the Sunday night, before dinner, Tom and Daniel hosted a free drinks and nibbles party in the garden which was a good opportunity to meet other guests and share experiences. We did not sleep well on our first night as we found the mattress too hard. We mentioned this to Tom the next morning who was very sympathetic and arranged for the mattress to be changed later that day. This was just typical of the personal service that Tom, Daniel and the whole team provided. Indeed, it was obvious that they wanted us to have a really enjoyable and relaxing stay at the Edelweiss and would do all that they could to ensure that that was indeed the case. Finding such great service these days is rare and hence if we return to Wengen in the future we will definitely stay at the Edelweiss without hesitation. Thank you again Tom and Daniel.…
It had been years since we last visited Wengen and our once-favorite hotel looked a little tired, so we tried a new one. We now have a new favorite! The welcome at Edelweiss was warm and our wood-paneled room (with balcony) made us feel like we were staying in a Swiss chalet with its stunning panoramic view of the Alpine skyline and the Lauterbrunnen valley (complete with waterfalls). At night, except for an occasional bird cry, it was absolutely silent. After our first dinner in their restaurant, we never ate anywhere else; the food was excellent (and also a bargain in this expensive country). A 10 min. walk from the train station, the Edelweiss gets our enthusiastic endorsement.
We stayed here one night on a spontaneous trip within Switzerland. The innkeeper was super responsive, friendly, and helpful. The rooms were comfortable and clean, albeit simple. We were pleased to have two adjoining rooms and a nice balcony with views of Jungfrau. We ate dinner in the restaurant and found the food to be tasty and beautifully presented, and inexpensive.
Being welcomed by a nice and friendly owner was the start of our long weekend. We got well informed and received lots of 'to do' tips. Great! Our stay was good. Breakfast and diner were simple but good. We would come back. Location and views: 10/10
