We had a room out the back with a nice view of the Reichenbach Falls, which were lit up at night. The room was spacious and comfortable. As some other guests said, the bathroom was somewhat old-fashioned but clean and over all satisfactory. We liked that the hotel was on the outskirts of Meiringen, only about 200 m from the... More

We stayed here in a family room on our trip down through Europe. Switzerland is a very expensive country ( fir instance it was going to cost over $150 for us to go on the boat on lake brownie) so we were worried about the prices for our evening meal. As it was, the food was excellent and not overpriced.... More

Comfortable room with pretty linen. Great for families as the room has twin and bunk beds. The bathroom was small and had dated decor but was adequate. If visiting in summer a trip to the swimming pool just down the road is a must, great water slide kept me amused for ages as well as the children!

We came for a second holiday here this summer because we enjoyed it so much last year. This is a small family run hotel and Martin, the owner, is so very kind to the children and indeed to us adults. The hotel is on a main road but it is in the village of Willigen on the outskirts of Meiringen... More

Nice staff but we had room on the road side and it was very noisy. Traffic all night. We stayed on a hot weekend and the room was stifling hot. Couldn't open the windows because of the noise. I wouldn't stay here in summer. Definitely ask for a room away from the road. Breakfast was adequate but coffee was ordinary.... More

We had dinner here after a bad experience the night before in our hotel (we didn't sleep in this hotel, only had dinner). The food was very good and we came back a second time. The first day we had meat, very good, tender, perfectly cooked. The second day we had a very good Fondue, the owner also gave us... More

We stayed with our NZ friends for one night in the Tourist Hotel in Meiringen and found this a well run establishment (accommodation and restaurant). The rooms are lovely and clean, the food was excellent and the interaction with the staff good. We liked the lovely showers and beds and had no trouble sleeping despite of the proximity of the... We spent 10 days there. On the first night the owner asked us what the kids liked to eat and he would accommodate them as best as possible. This he did and the food was excellent. If one or other kid didn't like the main course they would be furnished with sausages or an omelette. Didn't like the pudding, no... More

I have been passing the Hotel Tourist on trips to Meiringen for a number of years and even eaten there so this year we decided to go and stay there as it has always interested me. We were very happy with our visit here this summer. We stayed for ten nights on a half board basis which offered great value... More

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights during a touring holiday of Germany and Switzerland. The owner and Heidi, the waitress/ bar person, could not have done more for us and made our children feel very welcome. They always had time to talk to us and were keen to share information about the local area. Our family room was... More
