We LOVED our stay at Hotel Glacier! Make sure you get a room with a view of the Eiger…if you don’t, you should stay somewhere else with a view. Our balcony view was the most incredible hotel view we’ve had. Location is just outside of town. Although it’s walkable to get into town, it’s straight uphill and even though we are active and enjoy walking, we opted to use the city bus (free) or the hotel van (small extra charge) to get into town. Waking down was super easy though (except with luggage…we almost lost a runaway suitcase😂). The breakfast is the BEST hotel buffet breakfast we’ve had. I looked forward to this every single day of our stay! Fruit was perfectly fresh, eggs were perfectly cooked, fresh local pastries, cheeses, sausages, and yogurts. I still dream about my breakfasts there, with that amazing view. Although we opted the PRICEY 7 course dinner one night, we did not enjoy it. Presentation was beautiful, but our American palettes just weren’t up to this type of food (even though all 4 of us consider ourselves “foodies”). Close walk to Glacier Canyon (“Gletscherschlucht”), and it’s a beautiful walk. The hotel hot tub in the spa was okay…but that wasn’t the main reason we were there. We didn’t have one on our own room balcony (as some other rooms do). If you can afford it, get one with a hot tub, as we enjoyed a nightly soak looking at the view. We booked a room with the extra living room off of it. It was pointless having that extra room, as the ceilings are low and the room mostly unusable. The only downside was no shower door, so water soaked the floor every time we showered. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. The employees were all VERY kind and helpful, helping us to know how to get to wherever we wanted to. Oh, and just fyi for Americans…there are no Coke products at the hotel. Their version of Coke was totally different, although fun and tasty to try a couple times! Bring your own if you’re an addict. 🤣

Please do get the complimentary pick up from the train station for check in as the hotel is quite a distance away from the train station. Luckily I read the reviews and saw this service provided by Glacier. Upon arrival, I gave out a loud Wow! The beautiful view is just too good to be true. I also had an enjoyable lunch, they do serve good burger. The room is very clean and cosy. Beds and pillows has sent me to slumberland sweetly. My outdoor tub has the best view. It's really very relaxing and I stare at the majestic mountain and green for the longest time every time I soak in. Room has Apple TV and Netflix as well! It's great for us to catchup on our shows. Breakfast spread is very good for a small boutique hotel. The selection of fruits are soo fresh and sweet. I enjoy my breakfast every morning though there aren't changes. Unfortunately, I did not manage to enjoy the spa services as we were feeling bit under the weather. The bus stop to take you to town is right in front of hotel. We will usually take the bus out and walk back to hotel. The walk back is always enjoyable because the area has beautiful scenery and cute houses with many best photo op. I have used the complimentary hotel transport to and from when checking in and out which really helps a lot since I have 3 big luggages. I went to 4 other parts of my trip, Glacier Hotel in Grindelwald is really my favourite stay.

We were glad to have stayed at Hotel Glacier, a charming boutique hotel in Grindelwald. The team was friendly and helpful. The rooms were cozy and well-appointed. The best part is the private terrace with our own hot tub - with stunning views of Mt. Eiger! We definitely enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub after a long day of hiking. The included breakfast was very nice, and the free laundry and local bus pass definitely came in handy. Also appreciated the complimentary shuttle service to the train station so we didn’t have to lug our luggage uphill on the day of departure. Best place to stay at in Grindelwald!

We did the 5 course tasting menu with wines. Every single food we tasted was delicious and the presentation was suberb. The service was top notch and the setting was like something out of a movie. We couldn’t recommend Glacier more highly

We enjoyed a great holiday staying at the Hotel Glacier. The staff were so friendly and helpful, and of course ,this being Switzerland, fluent in several languages. The tasting menu we sampled twice (it was that good), in the dining area overlooking the Eiger with paragliders landing in a field about 300 metres away. Otherwise we ate in local restaurants in the evening which provided variety, and while we booked with no difficulty, the hotel would have doubtless assisted/made phone calls. Breakfasts were fantastic at the hotel - lots of, and varied, fresh fruit; omelettes etc on request, and seriously good local bread/rolls, with croissants for those wanting pastries. Plus a daily changing smoothie. Adequate supplies of coffee capsules were provided in our modern bedroom. Wifi was good throughout the hotel. And guests get a card entitling them to free travel on local, but not mountain going, bus routes to facilitate access to gondola terminals and Grindelwald town centre. Although a shuttle was available the (uphill) walk to the town was less than 10 minutes so we just took some extra exercise. The key point of visiting the Jungfrau is to see/walk the mountains and Grindelwald is a very good base, as the copious leaflets describing the various attractions stored by the hotel entrance witnessed, because of its gondola/train links. Help/suggestions were always available if needed.

We are definitely coming back to Grindelwald and will stay in the Glacier Hotel again. It's a little bit of a climb up and down (steep not long) to town but the location is perfect otherwise, situated between the main train station and the Grindelwald terminal where we caught the gondolas to Jungfraujoch (Top of Europe) and Mannlichen (en route to Wengen). The hotel has a complimentary shuttle on arrival and departure to the train station (which unfortunately we didn't know about until we arrived and checked-in). It must have been fairly comical seeing us manoeuvre our suitcases down a steep slope. Glacier Hotel has absolutely the best breakfast, great coffee and food is overall very good - fantastic sweet potato fries. Thoroughly enjoyed my Jalapeño margarita as well. Well worth having dinner (must book in advance) at its restaurant - beautifully plated dishes (separate comment on the restaurant). Nice to eat out on the patio on a sunny day. The rooms are relatively large, which means a nice sized bathroom and enough space for large suitcases. Only issue is the little coffee table in the room, which can be difficult to shift. Service is attentive and efficient and they made us feel very comfortable. The hotel found my scarf that I had left behind and mailed it to me.

Fast and easy checkin. Room 304. It had a sitting room but with the sloped ceiling it wasn't really useable. Quiet at night. Safe and Nespresso maker in the room. We did not use the spa. We did not try the restaurant because I was told it was a surprise tasting menu every night. I prefer to know what I will be served before deciding on dining there. Breakfast was very nice. The view from the rooms is amazing.

Thank you very much for your good Feedback! We are sorry to hear that you could not use the sitting room in your room, the SPA area and the Restaurant. Our Restaurant only serves the tasting menu in a fine dining style in the evening with 3, 5 or 7 courses. We do have a small menu during the day available in the lounge. We are happy to read that you enjoyed the view from the room as well as our breakfast buffet! With pleasure we look forward and hope to welcome you again at the Glacier!

Location is great, less than 10mn walk to Train (Grund or station) and to Terminal. The best restaurant / food in Grindelwald. A boutique hotel, you feel home not in a big unipersonal hotel. Good service. Owners present and close to customers. Nice rooms, exceptional view

Stunningly beautiful hotel in Grindelwald, with beautiful views of the mountains. The suite was huge and lots of space to sit and just enjoy the scenery. Had dinner in the restaurant and food was excellent. Only slight issue is the walk downhill and uphill from the hotel! But still worth it.
