Prime location and excellent views! The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Parking is off site but was not a problem. Getting to our actual room was like driving in Lucerne, lots of winding halls seemingly going in circles! The view from our room was spectacular! The hotel was clean, the bedding was very comfortable - finally a hotel in Europe with big pillows! The included breakfast buffet was average, nothing hot like eggs and bacon, but still good. Check in and out was easy with English speaking staff.
My daughter and I stayed 3 nights at the wonderful Hotel des Alps in late February. I think 1 of the best things about the hotel is it’s location - an easy 5 minute walk from the train station, right in the lovely old town of Lucerne and on the river. We walked everywhere during our time in Lucerne. The room was modest and the bed was too firm and narrow for my liking but otherwise it was very comfortable. The buffet breakfast was very satisfying with lots of great choices. We chose a room with a view of the river which was worth the additional cost. Switzerland is expensive but I think the Hotel des Alpes was reasonably priced. During one of our days we took a day trip to Lauterbrunnen / Jungfrau region which made for a long day (about 3 hours on the train each way) but was spectacular- we were lucky to have good weather. The Swiss trains are incredibly efficient but expensive. Try to book in advance if you can - you’ll save some money. We didn’t do this with our day trip b/c we only wanted to go if the weather was good, so we payed full price fare. I high recommend Hotel des Alpes in Lucerne.…
Had a great experience at this hotel. Room was clean and had great views of the bridge, historic buildings, lake and mountains. Desk staff was amazing, especially Simon who gave me a great room and helpful tips of what was happening in the city. The hotel is an easy 5-7 minute walk from the central train station which is manageable with luggage. Breakfast was continental, but still very good with local cheeses, meats, pastries, homemade Muslie and optional egg. I highly recommend and would return again next time I am in Lucerne. The entire staff I interacted with was also fluent in English which was helpful as well.
Since we travelled to and from Luzern by train, this hotel is conveniently located just across the river bridge from the Luzern main train station. Our room was was adequately-sized and had a panoramic view across the river. At night it was quiet, even when the window was left open. We were pleased that in the room there were two chairs and a place where two suitcases can be opened. (Double occupancy rooms in many other hotels only provide for one suitcase, a second suitcase having to be placed on the floor !) The safe was not large enough for a laptop but quite adequate for smaller items. The bathroom was large, had excellent lighting and a well thought-out shower that did not allow water to splash on the floor as occurs in so many other hotel bathrooms. The reception staff were really great - friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast was more than sufficient with which to start the day.…
This was the 2nd hotel we stayed at for 3 nights on a STC winter holiday. A very easy 5 minute walk from the station . In the old part of Lucerne , it overlooks the historic wooden bridge . We asked when booking in , if they had a room with a bath or a balcony available , none with baths , but they gave us a lovely room with a large covered balcony , great views. Very comfortable beds , good air con , tea and coffee maker , large tv if that’s important. Breakfast was downstairs , hot and cold buffet. Superb restaurant and very good menu for dinner. The staff are lovely and very helpful Easy to walk to anywhere , very impressed with this hotel
