Space was an issue. Awkward-sized chairs took up too much of the room. Asked for, and got, an additional luggage rack because there was very little shelf space. Tiny shower; had to turn off while soaping up or shampooing. Bathroom shelf entirely too narrow, so toiletries were at risk of falling into sink or toilet. Tiny elevator. Had to move plug for one lamp into the bathroom to get electricity for our computer and other electronics. Good bed. Good table and desk chair. Staff member who initially greeted us was grumpy, but all others were friendly. Proximity to train station and other key areas was a big plus.
The room we had was pretty basic but made better by the incredible view we had overlooking the river and the Chapel Bridge. I would definitely upgrade room to get this view. We were told that, due to Covid, they would not be serving the included breakfast. However, their restaurant was open for breakfast. I gather it may have had more to do with staffing since the room for breakfasts for guests was on another floor. At any rate, if you're going to stay here, do get a room with a view. You won't be sorry.
The hotel was fine, nothing special. We had a “city” view which was basically over the back rooftops. Room somewhat small. It is in a good location, walkable to train station, close to covered bridge and other sites. We just weren’t fans of Lucerne, really touristy and expensive. Only stayed one night. Did not eat at restaurant as expensive.
Three nights.. The Good: super location on river. First floor room with spacious balcony overlooking historic wooden bridge. Hotel restaurant on lower level. Food okay but that is very subjective. Reception people attentive and eager to help with planning schedules although received misinformation about boat schedules twice. Room spacious. The beds very comfortable. Walls bare with small mirror. There is a desk and lounge chair. The Bad: no dresser and no air conditioning (although they do provide a fan). I missed the fact there was no a/c when booked. That’s on me. But, were does two people put their clothes if they do not want to live out of suitcases for three nights? How much could a dresser cost? There is plenty of room for one. They could put it under the TV. In fact, they can remove the TV because the signal is so poor unless you like to listen to stutter and watch flickering. They do provide four cubicles next to hanging closet to store clothing. Lucerne is a charming town. The hotel is well located. We had to pay in full upon arrival. Thought that was a bit unusual. The owners need to do some minor upgrades with room interiors (art on walls and a DRESSER).…
I wouldnt stay here if i didnt get a room with the view of the river. You are looking right at the river and charles bridge. 5-8 min walk to train station with nice restaurant at the bottom. Check amenities before booking… We enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend getting a room with the river view. Comfy bed and pillows
