Fabulous, friendly service from all staff, especially at reception who gave us the full run down on where and how best to visit the local sights. The hotel facilities, location, decor and atmosphere were also outstanding. Very highly recommended.
The Grand National Hotel Lucerne is perfect! The location is in a more quiet area of the city yet very central, walkable and easily accessible to everything! The interior is exceptional, elegant and immaculate. The breakfast just charming. Bar area sophisticated! No stone left unturned! The only thing I would suggest is more powerful hair dryer in the guest rooms. The guest rooms were charming with a large modern bathroom! The staff friendly and inviting! I enjoyed being inside the hotel as much as outdoors strolling around the city. Thank you for making my trip to Lucerne wonderful!
Great location and views but dated rooms, poor facilities, very disappointing restaurants, No atmosphere and mixed service. It could so easily be better with a little more care and attention to service but for now the location was all it had to offer,
Beautiful hotel in the best location of Lucerne right by the lake and only a few minutes walk to the old town and other parts of the city. So nice to stay in a hotel that has kept its classic features but gives you the modern luxuries. The bar is beautiful in the evening with pianist and it is a breath of fresh air to other hotels. Open the window in the morning and you have a stunning view of Lake Lucerne and Pilatus Mountain. We ate in the Chinese restaurant in the hotel, fantastic food and service. Cannot wait to come back here again to this wonderful hotel.
Mediocre to poor service for such a highly rated hotel. The rooms are nice and well appointed but the service from staff is lacking. Worst experience was dining at National Restaurant. The wait staff must not understand German nor English since I had to continuously repeat myself. Last morning at breakfast we witnessed other people who arrived after us being served their food first. He does happen when we ordered the same dish before them? Perhaps because my wife is Asian and the others where white we have to wait longer? I think that is the case. Will never return to this place that hires xenophobic staff.
Wonderful place. Good old style set up and decorations. Great location and service. Beautiful lake view and walking distance to all tourist places.. Only complaint was the WiFi did not work and we reported it to front desk.
Lovely views of Lake Lucerne from this excellent hotel. We appreciated the proximity to the city center and lake promenade. There are multiple excellent dining choices. The staff are professional and welcoming. Housekeeping is excellent. Bathroom a bit small but the powerful showerhead was so nice. Recommended
We were blessed to stay here for 3 nights in Sept/Oct 2021. We were greeted by the most courteous front desk staff. Our clerk not only checked us in but spent at least 15 minutes showing us a map and planning a route for us to do a walking tour, and a boat tour. The room was absolutely beautiful and spotless with a view of Lake Lucerne. We were able to walk along the promenade and enjoy old town... both only steps from the hotel entrance. The breakfast staff was exceptional, remembering our likes from the first morning. The housekeeping was top notch as was the bell staff. We felt totally spoiled and were treated like royalty for our entire stay.
Situated along the lake, next to the city center, the interior is spectacular. Multiple dining options within the hotel. Very friendly and attentive staff. Our room was HUGE - not common in Europe - included a sitting area, desk, separate clothing room, as large bathroom. One caution the tub walls are very high, so it is a challenge getting in and out of the tub/shower.
I have stayed in this Hotel with my Mother for a weekend in August. The hostel is in a good location but is already quite dated. Unfortunately we booked with half board. There was no menu choice, only one type of food was offered. The dinner on Saturday night was a disaster. Salmon was served as an appetizer, it was only lightly fried on the outside, completely raw on the inside. There was a piece of plastic in the dessert. After dinner we were both sick. Unfortunately, my condition kept getting worse, I became feverish during the night and had to vomit several times. I didn’t get better the next day either, but I still had my fever and stomach ache with nausea. My condition was so severe, after returning to Germany, i have to see a doctor, where food poisoning was diagnosed. Since we didn’t eat or drink anywhere outside the hotel, I could only get food poisoning there. After reporting the problem to the hotel, the manager called, who then accused me of just figuring out the whole story and just wanting to get money back from them. During the conversation, he said that he never gives any compensation and I am just lying. I’m sure I’ll never set my foot in this hotel again, but luckily there are many good hotels in Lucerne where similar “surprises” are not to be expected.…
