Everything about our stays on two occasions these past two weeks was outstanding.
From checkin to checkout and everything in between was such a pleasant experience.
All hotel personnel were friendly, courteous and extremely helpful.
Highly recommend this hotel.

We’ve been regular guests to Intercontinental Geneva over the last few years, whenever we traveled back to Geneva during winter or summer holidays. Apart from its location, i found the quality of service very good if not excellent. Now, during our most recent visit we were extremely disappointed with the very same feature that made us regular visitors: service.
1. At our arrival, there was no doorman to help with luggages (they used to have at least 2-3 any time of the day). We waited for the only desk/reception lady to finish off another guest checkout (10 minutes) to eventually have our luggages taken care of (with a helping hand from the taxi driver!).
2. We were literally harassed by the housekeeping staff daily. We would receive daily calls (one day we had two calls) asking us when we would leave the room. This, while the “do not disturb” sign was displayed on our room door (not to mention the usual papers they would sneak under the door).
3. We were two guests in the family suite but housekeepers would leave only one bottle of water, and more surprisingly, only one glass. I did mention it to the desk staff, they improved the same day, but we got one bottle and one glass the next one. Also, they would not top up the coffee machine.
During previous stays, we would generally get a fruit platter. None was provided this time around. And i won’t mention the fact that the main bar was closed. Basically, it looked as if the hotel was running with the minimum, most basic capacity and with reduced quality standards (but with the same, unchanged rates). We visited and had drinks at hotel Bergues, they seemed running business as usual.
While i can understand that the covid related closure and reopening is a challenge, i still believe that for a hotel of this category and reputation, they have to live up to their reputation, at least when it comes to the quality of service.
We decided not to return to this hotel anymore.

I am a loyalty card holder for this hotel group and have stayed at many of their hotels.

The first thing to say is I realise the pressure that COVID 19 has caused.

Secondly the pool area and the staff at the pool led by Yousef and supported by Angola, Christof and Sarah helped to stop our visit being a disaster. They could not have worked harder or done more for us.

I believe the issues with this hotel lies with senior management. I rang the hotel before we arrived to advise of our late check in at 9.30pm and was told we would be able to get a meal on arrival. When we arrived we were advised that there was no food available and that if we wanted to eat we could leave the hotel and head for the City centre. This was a 20 minute walk away. So we went hungry.

The next day, Saturday, we visited Lake Geneva which was beautiful. When we got back to the hotel we decided to have lunch by the swimming pool and use the sun beds in the pool area. When we got the pool we were surprised how busy it was as the hotel was nowhere near full occupancy. We were told there were no sun beds available as all the non residents had taken all the beds. We were also told that we would have to wait an hour to eat at the bar restaurant due to it being booked up with non residents.

Luckily at this point Yousef and Christoff jumped in and saved the day.

Unfortunately they could not help when we finally sat down to eat our meal and the food was if a very poor standard.

We then decided to eat that evening in the hotel premier restaurant Woods, only to be advised it was closed on a Saturday and Sunday evening.

At this time I asked to see the manager, only to be told there was no management on site as they were on a day off.

By this time my wife and I started laughing as we could not see how things could get any worse.

It is clear the management team are not interested in their customers and prefer the local residents to use the hotel facilities.

As I say I do not blame the front facing staff in any way as they were trying their best in difficult circumstances. However I do blame the faceless management team who clearly lack the skills to run a five star hotel both in communication and empathy to their customers and the burden they put on their lovely staff.

I would advise to stay away from this hotel until they sort these issues out.

Overall we had. Very good stay. It’s a lovely hotel in a great location and we had a lovely private function in Woods restaurant that was enjoyed by all.
Minor issues were in room servicing - 3 people so ensure 3 of everything (towels, mugs etc). Fantastic coffee machine but no powder milk added 2-3 times (but lots of sugar which we don’t take). First world problems I know but you pay a lot so you want it all ‘just right’.
Great views to the lake...

A beautiful, elegant hotel, impeccably decorated. Staffed by professional, courteous and helpful workers. We were automatically upgraded to a suite, which was VERY roomy and comfortable. There is a great pool and deck, which came in handy during the heat wave that occurred during our stay. There's a gym, conference rooms and restaurant. Breakfast could be had (which we didn't) for an exorbitant 40 Swiss Francs per person, but I suppose that this goes with the territory and the presumed great variety of selections. There's a bus about a half block away that gets you into center of town in about 10-15 minutes.

Our second visit to this famous Hotel & a completely differnt experience, apart from the slightly frosty welcome at reception.
The best part was the huge room or suite; a whole corner of the Hotel quite high. Great views & very luxurious. The best designed bathroom I have experienced & luxurious too. Compact but beautifully arranged.
Generally the staff were really friendly, especially the Manager of the reception, the wonderful Indian pool attendant & the doormen.
The Intercons now have one of the best toothbrushes that I have ever used too.
The in-room book about the previous GM is great reading.
The Geneva pass is also very useful, especially for the Bavettes.
A wonderful Birthday treat, thank you.

At first it seems like this hotel is out of the way from town but it is actually in a very convenient location. We were given a travel card by the hotel and we were able to hop on and off buses to go everywhere, including the water taxi.

Staffs are the hotel are very helpful and bedding were very comfortable. Will stay there again.

We spent a fortune and got more than poor service on every level. The room was nothing special, the dinner more than disappointing and the breakfast was a total rip off.

The hotel was practically empty, but after ordering a soup as a starter, the monk fish for my wife and the lamb for me, we had to wait not less than 40 minutes for a soup that had absolutely zero taste and was almost cold, they brought us a tiny piece of fish and two tiny slices of lamb for more than 50 Swiss francs each. A total joke.

For the breakfast they charge an extra 44.- per person and what we got was not worth more than maximum 20.-.......it was not even a buffet, but only à la carte with a very small choice.

For the parking they charge another 36 Swiss franks.

Anyway, we will never come back to this hotel, that's for sure.

In the summer the outdoor pool is the big draw of this hotel. The location is a bit off centre and the building not very nice, but when you lie besides the pool or have a meal in the poolside restaurant it feels like a summer resort.

All the rest is standard intercontinental hotel but the pool is quite special certainly for a Swiss city hotel. We’d stay there again for a family corona vacation with plenty of day trip opportunities in nearby France.

I spent three nights here before COVID-19 as I’m a Spire Ambassador and I was very happy with my stay. I took an Uber there from the train station as we had luggage and knew I chose the right place as the doors to the car opened.

Stayed on the 12th floor with an upgraded suite. Was very well appointed, clean and good views. The bus pass I got at check in came in handy as it permitted free transport on public buses.

Obviously Geneva is expensive and this hotel is no exception. Overall it was a great stay and I would return again.

The hotel outdoor pool is indeed heated to 27 degree but only opens from mid May to mid September. Our Sauna and Hammam is open throughout the year. Alternatively we do offer to our guests a complimentary access to the indoor pool at the Geneva Country Club. Our Concierge Team would be happy to assist you with the complimentary transfer as well.
