We were on a biking tour & stayed here 2 nights as our first stop. We visited during a heat wave & we were very glad the hotel had a/c, no other hotels on our trip did. The breakfast is very good too. Rooms are on the smaller side, but the beds were comfy & everything in the room worked well. The train station is right outside the hotel, so very convenient.
Travelling by train the closeness to the main station is great. Within a 10 min. walk you are at the lake. The room was big enough and clean, also the bath-room. I love the view over the city from the 7th floor and even more at breakfast in the 8th floor sitting at the window. The staff is friendly and in the foyer there is much space to sit and meet people.
On our first night in this hotel, we noted that our room was hot. We called the front desk, and personnel there told us the air conditioning system of the entire hotel was broken. Apparently this had been the situation for several days. They said they did not expect it to be fixed the next day either. No one had been able to figure out the problem. When we asked if they had called top A/C experts, they said that, because there had been a holiday (Ascension Day), they had had trouble getting someone to come. The hotel manager was away. We were extremely irked, because when we had checked in, no one at the front desk had even mentioned that the air conditioner was down. We should have been told this up front, so that we could book a room in another hotel if we wanted to. But we were stuck. We tried opening our window, but the noise was intense: very loud music, trains speeding by, people yelling, and dogs barking. It was hellacious, particularly during our second (and last) night there, which was a Friday. We had no choice but the close the window. While that helped with sound, we were hot again. We called and asked if we could get a fan, but the front desk told us they had all be given out (how many, we have no idea). Obviously under these circumstances we did not sleep well. Failure to disclose a big problem is clearly no way to treat guests. We have asked for a full refund.…
We really loved Hôtel Cornavin so much so that we booked it twice during our trip. normally, we would try a different hotel and location to get a different sense of the city, but we were just so happy at the Cornavin, and the location was super convenient. The staff is all-around great, breakfast was satisfactory, the rooms were spacious and really well built and thought out. The pillows were amazing. I looked for them in Portugal and on Amazon, but couldn't find them, sadly. There was plenty of space to put things away. Light switches are also by the bed so you don't have to get up to turn off lights. We will be booking our future stays with the Cornavin. The hotel was also nicely situated near the train station, trams, and buses. There is also a very nearby underground shopping place with a grocer, bakery, H&M, Mister Mint, etc. If you are flying into Geneva, just know that it is faster and cheaper to take the train to the hotel (first stop) than to taxi (by a lot)! Plenty of good food nearby as well. See you all next time we're in Genève and thanks for a lovely stay!…
The hotel cornavin is well located, being just a road-cross from the main station of Geneva. I had a 2-nights stays. Personally I found it a bit too generous classify it a 4* hotel. Room was normal size, not that detailed. When I entered I found some rubbish in the trash bin… I complained about it at the reception and the staff looked at me lost in face and asked if I wanted to change room without apologizing. Breakfast quite poor, not much choice. The stuff overall was cold and not really interested in help a client. Not really satisfied about it
The Cornavin Hotel is conveniently located beside Geneva train station only a 5 minute walk to the lake side. It's a very convenient location to the airport which is 6 minutes by train and on the doorstep to the delights of Geneva city. The hotel lobby is quite impressive with a large seating area for guests and an atrium which goes up 9 floors and hosts a 30 meter clock which is the largest of its kind in the world. The welcome by the staff is always friendly, polite and courteous. The check in process is fast and efficient and from that point on they regularly greet you by name when you walk past. Also in reception is a little display to the comic character TinTin as this was one of the locations featured in the comic. On the lower floor of the hotel is a gym and sauna. I have had the pleasure of staying over 60 nights in the past year at the hotel. I have always been fortunate to have a room on the top floors with panoramic views over the city. These rooms have a full floor to ceiling windows the width of the room. It can be opened Juliet style and offers a truly incredible view over the roof tops to the lake. Whether watching the sun rise over the mountains in the distance or enjoying the night lights of the city, it is breathtaking. The room itself is a very good size and even more so for Geneva standards. A large comfy bed takes pride position for wakening up with a view. The rooms are executive in style having a good desk space area. It also has the usual amenities you would expect such as mini bar, tea/coffee and complimentary toiletries. The bathroom is also large with full size bath shower. The WiFi has always been very reliable, fast and full bars. One thing that is noted is the cleanliness of this hotel, the rooms are always meticulously spotless and clean with no signs of wear. Breakfast is served on the 8th floor in the panoramic breakfast room. There is a mixture of hot and cold buffet food with the most amazing scrambled eggs I've had in any hotel. The breakfast staff are also amazing, full of smiles and very helpful. Overall, Hotel Cornavin is a wonderfully professional and friendly hotel. The views on the top floors are spectacular and the rooms beautifully comfortable. I have been privileged to consider this a home from home.…
The best value in Geneva! Ask for a room with a city and lake view and you will be delighted! The breakfast on the panoramic floor was fabulous with sweeping views of the city. If you are on a budget don’t miss this one!
"I had a very pleasant one night stay. I was travelling by train and this was the obvious choice as it is only a few hundred yards to walk. I had requested and was given a quiet room; number 614. the hotel was very clean. The buffet breakfast was adequate."
Hotel is adjacent to the Cornavin railway station with an old world charm. Heavy room keys which you won't see now a days and excellent view from roof top restaurant add to the central location. Its good for those on a short visit to Geneva. Many attractions are within walking distance and you get a travel pass which can be used to travel in bus. Breakfast was good too.
Had a sort business trip and had to a last minute booking at the hotel. The hotel itself was well suited next to the main train station and had lovely bars and restaurants near by. No trouble getting around the area which was good. Hotel staff I believe Orlando his name from Panama was incredible I work in luxury hotels in the Uk and US and he sets great standards - big thank you to him.
