When we arrive at Hotel Dufour, it was a record hot day, and unfortunately, there is no air conditioning available in the hotel. They were very accommodating though and provided a fan for us. Due to the downtown location, it was very noisy (cars and the church bells that ring every 15 mins) which made sleeping difficult because our window had to stay open all night due to the warm temperatures. I can't say enough about how friendly, kind and hospitable they were, and couldn't help how hot it was. The breakfast was pleasant and adequate. Rooms were very sparsely decorated (reminiscent of a dorm room or hostel), but it was clean. The hotel is within walking distance of Old Town which has lovely shops and cafes to visit.
Thank Tanya J

With friends I had visited in this place 4 monts ago.... it has too cozy environment, antique looked furnitures and a very good restaurant along with the hotel.... its a rear combination in terms of price and covenience.

Highly affordable and recommended.

The hotel was planned as home for ??? with wardrobes that were accessible from the (smelly) corridor in the 70s, allthough the furniture looks even older. The most modern thing in the room was the flatscreen TV and the phone; in the whole hotel the elevator from 2014. Only the bathroom seemed recently renovated and relatively clean. The breakfast buffet was ok for 3* but didn't justify the overall price.
According to houserules it is not allowed to:
Smoke on the premises or out the windows, use drugs, enter the hotel with dirty safetyshoes or workinggear ... tells you about the customers.

Cannot recommend!

We were certainly disappointed.
The location is good, but for the price, I expected something comparable to the other hotels in the area but was immediately shown otherwise.
Our room was very outdated. The bathroom looks to have had a partial refurbishment, however it wasn't completely finished so there were still holes in the tiles where the old taps were.
Probably just a coincidence, but the elevator was out of service for the majority of our stay.
The wifi was awful - constant dropouts and very slow.
The room didn't have a fridge, which was a bit of pain.
The walls are really thin - we could hear the guy next door talking on his phone most of the night.
The breakfast was included, but was very basic.

If all other accommodation in Biel is booked, I would recommend staying in Bern - it's very close (~30mins by train).
Thank John M
