This is a beautifully renovated hotel. The location is ideal. The underground parking is easy to access. The rooms are perfectly decorated. The gym has everything. The king bed is extremely comfortable (saying a lot as we travel frequently). Our view was spectacular. The one disappointment was our room, 221, faced the loading dock of a hospital - 50 meters from our bed. At 6:30am, we were awakened by trucks unloading for hours, sometimes 3 trucks at a time. I had requested a quiet room multiple times - in my booking request, upon arrival, when assigned the room. Too bad, as we otherwise loved this hotel. At checkout, the manager wouldn't apologize or recognize the problem, instead he offered free parking. We would have preferred the sleep! If we come back, I'd ask for room 229, as far from the street & loading dock as possible.

The hotel was recently renovated. We had a room with a balcony on the third floor with a partial view of the city. The room was perfect with comfy pillows. Parking for 26 fr per night is acceptable compared to others who can charge up to 50 francs. A smoked glass separates the bathroom and toilet from the room so you can still pretty see what’s your room partner doing in there, strange concept that is now fashionable in some other newer hotels. At least one can close a curtain which allows full privacy. The rooms are accessible through an inside gallery on every floor facing the inner closed off patio of the hotel. Our room was above the entrance to the Asian buffet restaurant on the ground floor patio and as a consequence the fumes of the Asian kitchen filled our room that smelled terribly in the evening. It’s like we were in the kitchen. Opening the windows didn’t help because it created a draft which amplifies the smell in the room. Once the restaurant closed they started to play some music in that area and we could hear the music in our room. In the morning, woken up at 7am with a strong coffee smell from the buffet breakfast. When we left the hotel room around 11.30 am the Asian food smell started again. Compared to other hotels that we stayed in recently, this place does not respect the COVID social distancing rules at breakfast. The buffet is in a narrow corridor and there were too many people in there entering and leaving the narrow area from all sides. Also, tables in the breakfast room were too close to each other which left us with an insecure feeling. Small kids were running around the place but that’s a matter of parents’ education although staff should have intervened in my view.

We have stayed for a short weekend brake and enjoyed our time. The room seemed to be freshly renovated and was nicely decorated. We especially liked that our room had a lovely view overlooking the city of Berne. The breakfast buffet offers a wide selection of delicious food. The staff is very friendly and we definitely recommend to stay there.

The newly opened and renovated Swissôtel Kursaal in Bern is absolutely amazing! The rooms are spacious and neatly decorated with very comfortable beds, linens, towels, shower, seating area. It's nice that you can open the windows where we had a view over the city, magical! The staff is very professional, the Italian restaurant was great, and breakfast had a large selection of items. The location of the hotel is perfect, only a few minutes walking from the city center yet in a quiet and peaceful area.
