Humour – and especially the British take on it – is our recipe for lifting you out of the gloom of the grey foggy weather of everyday life. At The Bristol in Bern, you will not only be able to recuperate physically, but also mentally. Jokes and humour make up our wellness packages for the mind. Meaning that after a lengthy meeting or day at a trade fair in the Swiss capital, you can quickly wind down and recharge your batteries (and even add the odd sharp-tongued comment to your repertoire) before your next long day of business.

I really wanted to love this hotel, but in the end was only satisfied rather than wowed. Staff were very friendly and helpful and rooms were very clean. It was also nice to be able to use the bar area for our takeaway dinners while restaurants are closed. The hotel location is perfect and the rooms are large for a city-center hotel, but there were a lot of little things that didn't live up to the flashy presentation on the website. Stayed in an "Executive" room, which was very spacious and had a nice view to the street and the Bundeshaus. One thing about a big room though - it can feel a bit barren if not properly decorated. Mostly bare walls (with quite a lot of scuff marks) and a lack of lighting fixtures made it feel a bit drab. I would have appreciated a lamp next to the couch (as shown on website photos) so it could be used in the evenings for reading or work. There was also quite a bit of noise audible from the adjacent rooms - footsteps, moving furniture, talking, etc. We did appreciate the free soft drinks in the minibar and the bathrobes. The bathroom was fine - nice shower, good quality towels and hairdryer, but very small vanity area. However, there were no coat hangers in the room, we couldn't get the SuitePad to work, and I found the mattress too soft and saggy, which was a disappointment since the beds are a point of pride in the marketing materials. Breakfast was fine, but nothing really special. It was included with our room rate, but I probably wouldn't pay for it otherwise when there are many nice bakeries/shops within a few steps of the hotel. The "full English" was not quite fulfilling our expectations either - good bacon and sausage but very salty scrambled eggs and beans, no tomato. Speaking of the British theme - the idea is cute, but much more could be done with it. One glaring flaw is that, as far as we could tell, there were no British beers served at the bar. Also would have liked to see scones or other British specialties at breakfast (and HP sauce for the English breakfast?). Maybe things are different in non-Corona times? Overall, we were satisfied with our stay and we would consider staying again at the right price point because of the prime location. There is a lot of potential with the British theme and location of the hotel, but our experience didn't entirely live up to the expectations we had based on the rave reviews and optimistic marketing.

Dear inkwave17 First of all thank you very much for staying with us. We appreciate the time you spent to write this detailed feedback. Usually we do offer a variety of british beers at the bar and also serve different British dishes including our popular scones. You also have to try our tea time offer, served with our delicious sandwiches. We hope to welcome you back when the situation has normalized and our bar and lounge is fully back for all of our guests. Until then thank you and all the best. Kind regards The Bristol Family

The location of this hotel is top notch right across the train station in in the old town you also get a free transport bus with makes it so easy to visit a beautiful city of Bern. The hotel itself is modern and funky but it works well there’s a really nice lounge and the rooms are updated with the latest technologies such as a smart TV and a small iPad to control the room and order anything you would need. The rooms are really nice a bit small and a queen size bed for a strong man is quite small as well on the other hand there a bit lacking some amenities such as offering only one towel for the whole duration of the stay unless asked for Same with slippers and laundry bag but these are minor details. On the other For the price. I would’ve expected a better view but it’s fine Switzerland is known to be very expensive It is a great hotel highly recommended for a stay in Bern

I loved this hotel. Five minute walk from Bern main station, it is superbly located and a great, stylish modern hotel with terrific staff. I stayed two nights and had a great room with AC and modern facilities. The staff were very welcoming. I would go back to stay there every time. Excellent and well done to all.
