Well appointed hotel. Very clean, excellent, friendly staff, more than willing to make suggestions on sites to see and ways to get there. Buffet breakfast was very tasty with many choices both hot and cold. Perfect location for walking into old Basel.

Booked a one night stay prior to a river cruse. Both the cruise line and our airline cancelled our travel plans due to Covis-19. Our hotel reservation was pre-paid nin-refundable, but we were given a full refund. I can't thank them enough, and if we are able to do the planned Rhine river cruise in the future we will definitely stay at Hotel Spalentor.

This is a gem of a hotel. We had a huge corner room on the 4th floor with coffee machine and kettle. Bathrobes were provided and the water pressure was excellent. The beds were very comfortable and we had feather duvets and pillows. My travelling companion is asthmatic so didn’t get a good nights sleep with them but were changed the following day without fuss. The receptionists are so helpful and friendly and will go above and beyond for you as they are fluent in many languages. We were offered breakfast at CHF16 per person which we felt was a little high so went to a local coffee shop instead. Bear in mind that prices in Basel are particularly high anyway so it might not make much difference! This hotel is on the main road so there is always going to be road noise but it’s convenient to walk to the old town and easy from the airport. Airport bus 50 will take you to the centre, and then it’s just 3 stops on bus 50 to Spalentor. You don’t need to pay CHF40 for a taxi when it’s free travel on the bus/tram system. Overall a great hotel with lovely staff.
