I loved the history of this restaurant, exploring the old ruins in the basement of the restaurant. My wife and travelled to Basel on holidays, and loved exploring this beautiful city. I liked the attention to detail and the quality of service. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Spent a very enjoyable weekend in the lovely city of Basel with friends. We get together in a European city around this time every year. The Teufelhof was a great place to stay in a superb location in the old town. The rooms were comfortable, up to date and spotlessly clean. Our room (12) on the first floor faced onto... More

My only regret is we did not spend more time in Der Teufelhof!. We stayed in room 3, which is in the Art Hotel and reflects the look and feel of an artist's studio. Certainly one of the most unique rooms we have stayed in.. Unfortunately we were pressed for time in Basel so did not dine in the Michelin... More

This was a great venue for an amazing company dinner. They have a fabulous cellar area with archeological facts of the wall in Basel. Owner was very friendly and service was great. Wine tasting to start the night was very well done with excellent mix of selections.

Traditional hotel in the old city of Basel. Excellent for a quality city trip. Great hospitality, nice well furnished rooms (some design but not too much). Tramway stops close by. Parking at 300m. Great terrace and bar as well as a gastronomical restaurant (which we did not try). A really good breakfast with an excellent service. I will try to... More

We found this hotel to be unique in that it is a boutique hotel, so the rooms are individually decorated. The rooms occupy three separate buildings which contributes to the eclectic atmosphere. There is even a basement with exhibits of the original wall of the city of Basel - from centuries ago. The restaurants on site are good, but pricey.... More

It is a nice hotel. Not very large, in an old building. Our room was quite small but well designed, with a bathroom and a shower. The appearance is quite essential but pleasant. Clean, close to downtown and in a walking distance from all main tourist attractions.

We stayed here for our Swiss wedding in Basel in July 2016. While the rooms were small, they were well designed to feel more spacious. Very clean (this is Switzerland after all) and I loved the art theme. The courtyard was lovely and the food for both breakfast and dinner was amazing. The service was great and the rooms came... We had a very nice room overlooking the back pedestrian street, it was quiet with a lovely view of the cute buildings in this street. The windows open which was good because the weather was very hot the 3 nights we stayed. The hotel does supply a floor fan to circulate air - works well. The breakfast was excellent, a... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Der Teufelhof Basel, situated in the old town, with all sights and museums within walking distance or easy to reach by public transport, is a unique hotel experience with 33 stylish rooms. The hotel is classified as design and lifestyle as well as unique hotel. The rooms are either in the historic building, we call Art hotel, or in the more modern part in the Gallery Hotel. The Art Hotel has eight rooms and a suite. Each of them is made a work of art to live in. Especially business people who travel a lot enjoy staying in rooms which are not like the hotel rooms they know from their visits throughout the world. The Gallery Hotel's rooms and halls are a large exhibition area for one artist who can present his works for a particular period. We have chosen three designers for the rooms' furniture. The Gallery Hotel has twenty rooms, each different in size, three suites and a junior suite. The hotel comprises further the restaurant Atelier, the fine dining restaurant Bel Etage, the Teufelhof Bar, the wine shop «Falstaff», an own theater and the archaeological cellar. ... more   less
